The fairy tale-retold trope isn't new, but I typically find it an enjoyable one. Jude Knight's take—role reversal—is definitely clever. Weave Me a Rope, a Rapunzel retelling, is book 5 in the series. I read book 1 but not the three novels that precede this one. I liked but didn't love that first book; I found the protagonists charming but the overall tone a bit formal. My reaction to this book is quite similar.
Spen is the heir to a marquesatte, and Cordelia is a wealthy commoner. They are quite young, with Spen only 20 and Cordelia almost three years his junior. Their youth in itself is novel, at least for the hero. Spen's dad is horrible; Cordelia's family is great, but her societal status is problematic. They fall in love, but the marquess refuses to give permission, going so far as to lock Spen up. Battle lost, the couple, with the help of a rather ragtag group of friends and supporters, have to use their wits to win the war.
This author's style favors long descriptive passages and, when there is dialog, it's decidedly pragmatic. Knight writes well, don't get me wrong, but it's not a style that I find particularly engaging. Like with book 1, I liked the story but wasn't sorry when it was over.

This book has child abuse in it please be aware.
I really enjoyed how the two main characters were together and how devoted they were to each other. I REALLY enjoyed how, both of them won o er everyone involved. The servants and the decent people in the story. Of course you have to have billions so of course they stayed nasty. I was surprised at how she wrote how the other young ladys father ended up. I am glad he was protective just surprised at the ending. I also enjoyed how she included the servants.
