This would have been a 5 star book to me... if it weren't for the epilogue. It felt like it wasn't finish. The last words of the epilogue seem odd, like if the author had written a little bit more but somehow it wasn't printed. Another thing about this epilogue that I didn't like it was the change of POV. Yes, I wanted to know how other characters thought, but we just met Alma, and, yes, she is nice... but I would have love to have Pyras POV, how he feels things is such a mystery, or even Scarlette's, to know how she is been treated now as a slave in another country.

It was a great book! I haven't read a one POV book in a while and I find myself still loving it. Even if the characters are only described by Leora's POV, I could relate to most of her feelings about them. I like the author's writing style and I'm excited about reading more from this characters.

The story follows Leora's journey to find and rescue her sister, alongside a god that she freed from his prison.

We don't get to know much about the main characters, especially since the fire god is hiding his real identity, although he gives an important hint at some point, which makes the twist obvious. The secondary characters where additive to the story, but quite flat.
The atmosphere was good and the reading was quite immersive for me and I found the book easy to read, especially since the pacing wasn't rushed, nor dragged.
I can't say that the book really captivated me, but I found it enjoyable

I really liked this book. I wish it was longer so it could have been deeper and more world building, but it was still good at its current length. I really liked Leora and Pyras as a dynamic duo. There’s potential for further character development by delving into Pyras’ backstory in the next book. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars, I cannot wait for the next book.
