Serena thinking she can't love someone and still have all of her dreams is my bread and butter. She resists Henry so much because she doesn't understand that it's okay to love a man. Henry is so obsessed with her and I love to see it. The fact that they get engaged and then married the next month is so funny. Honestly, the whole book was funny and I enjoyed seeing them get used to being in the other persons body.
I received an arc through netgalley.
Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown an Imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC for allowing me to read a copy of Switched by Sarah Ready in exchange for my honest review.
A multiverse of stars!
I absolutely loved this book! The quirkiness, the dialog, the "switch", even the "nerdiness"!
I strongly encourage everyone to read this book. It is not to be missed!
This was definitely a cute one! A little modern freaky Friday science nerd story! I was really torn between a 3 and a 4 rating because while it was cute, it wasn’t one that blew me away. Although I did enjoy the parts where they had to view the others point of view…that was fun to see from each side. I did get through it rather quickly as it held my attention, so that’s always a plus!
Sarah Ready always creates fun reads that draw you into the story - becoming a go to author when I am looking for something light and entertaining. This book features two physicists crossed in love and the universe intervening to show them the way to true love through a soul switch that has them literally experience life from the others perspective.
While it is book two in a series, you do not have to have read the first to get into this story. It does have some literacy devices that some readers may not enjoy (footnotes and breaking the fourth wall) but author forewarns of them and they don’t interrupt the flow of the story. Perfect for those looking for a STEM romance with science geek joking around!
I am ready for book 3 in this series and can’t wait to see who is featured next
I was intrigued by the initial concept, it starts out as a fun, original concept, a bit on the quirky diary-style, think Princess Diaries with the awkward stream of thought, but I didn't connect with how the story was actually told and quickly gave up. So it wasn't really for me in the end.

After absolutely devouring Ghosted, I jumped at the opportunity and immediately requested for Switched as soon as I spotted it on NetGalley.
I loved that the book came with cute doodles and footnotes, yes footnotes! And not the boring kind, most were witty and hilarious. At this point it’s safe to say I’m absolutely in love with the whole magical realism trope because I loved the freaky Friday vibe here. There are several moments that had me cackling in the middle of the night (ref. Chapter 31) I adored Henry! As if being gorgeously British wasn’t enough, his golden retriever vibe had my heart melting and the fact that he was so madly, desperately in love with Selena; who by the way I wanted to punch on several occasions! I get that she was a career oriented woman who was scared of loosing herself if she gave love a chance (I’m a bit like that!) but when you have a man like Henry, saying the things he was saying (ref. my annotations) how can one resist! I would’ve quit any damn thing to be with him (if he wasn’t fictional, or perhaps I was!)
I loved this book, even though I almost lost my mind and bawled my eyes out at one point (ref. Chapter 38) These two took me on a roller coaster ride and I would let them do it all over again! So yes, obviously you cannot miss this one.
How unique! I loved Ghosted (my fave of the two in the series so far), but Switched was definitely an interesting spin on the Freaky Friday storyline!
Sarah Ready has quickly become a go-to author for me - you can always count on her to give you an excellent storyline and make you think and bring the drama without giving an emotional breakdown. Switched is one of her more quirky tales! I love that she’s brought in the body-swap idea for a couple that had magic and great sparks at first meeting but quickly discovered that they were new work colleagues so it couldn’t go further, until a freak accident at the Large Hadron Collider one lightning storm caused them to swap bodies and they got a really unique perspective on each other’s lives, including seeing their memories, attending the others big life events, experiencing their own preferences - super interesting!
Definitely recommend it to all, especially fans of Ready’s other works, including but most especially Ghosted! It’s not one to be missed!
Audio is narrated by my favourite couple - Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster. They did a spectacular job as always, but he only had a small role (I absolutely love Kelsey and I know the book was written the way it was for a reason, but would have loved to hear more of James)!
I received an advance read and listen copy from NetGalley and W.W. Crown (an Imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing), Members' Titles and Audiobooks, and this is my honest feedback.
The premise Switched is intriguing and offers a fresh twist on the classic body-switch trope. Serena Otaki, a carefree California girl, stands in stark contrast to Henry Joule, a meticulous British man. Their initial encounter sparks a series of events culminating in a literal exchange of bodies, leading to a thought-provoking exploration of identity, perception, and the nature of attraction. While the story succeeds in weaving together elements of humor and romance, character development feels a little flat.
If I could give this more stars I would. Henry and Serena switch bodies and try to get back to themselves by learning more about the other. There was quite a bit of science in this book which I think is what lacks in some Ali Hazelwood books which I think then rivals them. The spicy-ness is not all that bad which is interesting as they are in an opposite sex body. Granted it’s not closed door but it’s not bad. Serena narrates most of the book. I wish Henry had some more chapters because I would love to get inside his head more. However Serena has this sense of humor which both me and Henry loved. The author uses footnotes which took me a while to get used to but ended up liking. Overall this book was a little cheesy but I felt was wholesome and down to earth.
I did get this from NetGalley so thanks to them and the publisher for giving me this wonderful book. I did not read Ghosted the first book in the series which at a couple points was confusing but this book is standalone otherwise. I look forward to reading more Sarah Ready books!
Bravo to Sarah Ready!!!
Wonderful characters and an amazing and fun storyline!!!
Such a brilliant combination of laugh out loud moments and a creative twist to a great romantic HEA!
Although much different than my normal reads, this was such a breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to see what Sarah Ready has up her sleeve next for us!!
Five stars all the way!!
Like every Sarah Readys' book I loved it. It gript me from the first moment tillthe end.
Love the story line. 4 stars read.
I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this book. I really loved the cover photo. It looks so gorgeous that I was immediately attracted to it.
"Switched" offers a delightful escapade into the unexpected. Dive into the narrative with an open mind and enjoy the journey. Serena and Henry, both dedicated physicists, find themselves in the heart of Switzerland, working at the renowned Large Hadron Collider. Their commitment to their careers is unwavering. Yet, fate intervenes when they cross paths in a bar, unaware of their impending professional relationship. The chemistry is undeniable, but Serena's realization that Henry will soon be her superior sends her into a tailspin, prompting her to maintain a cautious distance. This tale is a lighthearted romp through the complexities of science, career, and the unpredictable nature of attraction.
The writing skills of the author are flawless and I was engaged throughout the book without getting bored. The plot was quite captivating and is a great book to read while drinking coffee. I will highly recommend this book. Grab your copy today.

I devoured this book. This was such a cute story and gave me freaky Friday vibes. I loved seeing Serena’s growth throughout the book and Henry sweet Henry, ugh I loved his character. He was so patient and sweet. I would definitely recommend this book! If you like love at first sight, forced proximity, opposites attract, then you need to add this to your TBR list!

Review: I love this book so much! I think the author did a great job portraying the body swap. It's interesting to see how their souls and bodies mismatch. Their reactions to everything are simply on point. I really felt the emotions in this book – from the mutual pining between Serena and Henry to their relationships with their respective families.
Serena and Henry are such lovely characters. I highly enjoy their sense of humour as well. They're simply adorable, and I understand them so well. The mutual pining was beautiful. Their relationships with their families were portrayed well, and I could feel their feelings of desperation to return to their bodies and be with their families as their true selves. Serena and her mother's relationship made me cry. It's just so sweet.
Anyway, Serena's footnotes are adorable! I think it's such a unique idea on the author's part to include footnotes written by the character. Cute.
It's also nice to see Jillian and Daniel from Book 1, Ghosted, again. She's Serena's best friend! And I love her encounter with Serena in Henry's body for the first time. It's so amusing, and even though it felt dramatic, it somehow also feels like how an actual person would react to seeing their female best friend in a man's body "break into" her house.
This is such a fun book, yet it somehow also managed to make me cry. The relationships portrayed in this book simply touch my heart. I highly recommend this book to all the romance lovers out there, especially those who love a touch of paranormal and science. It's truly worth reading.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the read!
I struggled to get through this book. It’s not that it was bad, I think I just read it at the wrong time.
I loved the MMC - being British always makes a character likeable in my opinion.
And the FMC was genuinely interesting and I did like her.
I just think it wasn’t the right book for me.
It’s book 2 in a series of interconnected standalones and it will make for a good ‘Halloween vibe’ read later in the year.
I will definitely go back and try it again and hopefully my opinion will change.

What an enchanting journey this book turned out to be🤩! As I began reading, I had no idea what to expect. The initial dive into scientific jargon and a one-night stand left me uncertain about whether I’d enjoy it. However, when ‘THE SWITCH’ occurred, the narrative took a magically transformative turn.
The story became an emotional roller coaster, blending light-hearted moments with profound emotional depth. Henry Joule and Serena Otaki, the central characters, forge a connection that transcends conventional boundaries through the soul-switching phenomenon. Their emotions resonate so strongly that readers become deeply immersed in their journey of love and self-discovery😍
I’m grateful to the author for crafting such a beautiful narrative.
The graphs and visual depictions were incredibly funny😂 Even if science isn’t your forte, you can easily overlook it for the sheer enjoyment of the story.
While some monologues were occasionally dull, overall, it was an extraordinary journey✨
This was an interesting way to explore a relationship. I was hesitant to read this at first because I am usually not a fan of sci-fi or fantasy, but I really enjoyed Henry and Serena (Ducky) and their love story. The way they met was unique and he came to her rescue. Little did they know, he was her new boss. The one night they spent together was magical and he fell fast and hard. She did too, but she was scared and determined to end it before it could change her.
I’ve read plenty of books where the man ran away from his feelings, but this might have been the first where the woman ran. I understood where she was coming from, where her career was concerned, but I felt bad for Henry when she ended it so harshly (even though she tried to stop the ruse). I figured out why they switched and what she had to do in order to switch back, but I was surprised by a few things about him that came to light.
While switched, they both learn about the other, not just trivial stuff, but important things as well. I loved the fact that they both experienced highly important events in each other’s lives. When Serena was Henry she had to be the best man at his brother’s wedding. He had to be by her mom’s bedside when she was in the hospital. Each life event revealed things about and to them, only they had to tell each other what actually happened during private moments.
When they finally switched back, it was all interesting to see how it would affect them. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more from Ms. Ready. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
“Switched" authored by Sarah Ready is a wholesome paranormal romance that seamlessly intertwines themes of love and destiny. The narrative intricately blends supernatural elements with a well-crafted plot, establishing a world where fate assumes a pivotal role. The characters are thoughtfully developed, each endowed with unique attributes, and the palpable chemistry between the main characters contributes to the book's overall allure.
This was so fun! Freaky Friday with a twist.
Serena and Henry have a one night stand that leaves them both feeling like the other is “the one”. Except, Serena is terrified of commitment so she sabotages their relationship before it can start. Oh, and they work together! Then, after a crazy electrical storm, they end up switching bodies and they have to figure out how to switch back before it’s too late.
Sarah Ready’s writing is funny and smart. I love a book about a woman in STEM and this delivered. It also didn’t hurt that Henry was giving big Mr. Darcy vibes.
I wasn’t sure how the body swapping plot would be handled but I think the author managed it well. It did get a little confusing as the reader to figure out who was doing what and saying what and thinking what during the switch but it didn’t detract much from the reading experience.
I love an enemies to lovers trope and I love a forced proximity trope and I love a fake relationship trope which I got in spades with this book. I, however, do not like the insta-love trope but it was softened a bit as the characters eventually know each other for over a year before the bulk of the story starts.
Overall, such a funny and enjoyable reading experience. I haven’t read the first in this series but now I want to go back and give it a read.
A rare find in romance novels, Switched is simultaneously a light-hearted romance that teaches us about physics. It is laugh out loud funny and also inspirational and innovatively creative in it's use of footnotes, graphic drawings and thought provoking with bits of wisdom. Sarah Ready manages these feats and presents a book that is a joy to read.
This book is set in Geneva where two physicists Serena and Henry meet in a bar. Serena has no idea that she has sat on a varnished bench at her favorite local bar and needs assistance from this attractive man Henry who loans her his coat while she slips out of her stuck jeans. Serena, who is anti-relationship, goes home with him and later finds out he is her new boss at the particle physics research lab and decides the relationship must end after the first encounter. Henry is heartbroken because he believes he has found true love. Then physics takes over and they collide like the atoms they are smashing and both of them get the ultimate empathetic journey - switching bodies. They have a hilarious adventure where each of them discovers deep admiration for each other.
While this sounds like a silly premise, Ms. Ready writes it so that the reader can really explore what it would be like to switch with the opposite sex and be forced to deal with co-workers and family. You get to see life from another point of view and the book is a lesson in trying to look beyond yourself and see others point of view. I loved Serena's quote "Little did she know, her ordinary life was about to change."
The writing is an example of how to artistically and properly use first person. Serena narrates the story and we travel right with her feeling her struggles and successes together with her instead of discovering them through an all-knowing narrator. This makes the book so much better and fast-paced. Very many authors try to use the first person and fail miserably, Sarah Ready has used it to enhance the story and to create Serena as a loveable and more personable character. We, the readers, are eyewitnessing her breaking into her best friend Jillian's place as Serena inhabiting Henry's body, which is one of my favorite parts of the book. We eyewitness her nervousness, her cravings for coffee then tea, her awkwardness with the switch and her rejection and acceptance of her romantic feelings towards Henry.
This is romance at it's best and books like Switched can be used to convince skeptics or critics of the genre that good writing can be funny, wise, romantic and sweetly educational all at the same time.
