Oh no! I love the first book in this series and was delighted to see there's a sequel, and with GR friends' glowing reviews, I couldn't wait to jump in. Turns out I'm on outlier island alone. 😎🏝️

The Switched premise sounds very entertaining where two MCs Sarah and Henry switch bodies but it took a while to get there. There's a bit of scifi and magical realism but sadly I couldn't connect with this couple as I did with Jillian and Daniel in the first novel Ghosted. I probably would've dnf if it wasn't a review copy.

I thought the narrators were okay, are they spouses by any chance? I'm on the fence about the third book and will see what the premise will be. I've enjoyed every Sarah Ready's novel until this one.

Thank you W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC and Netgalley for the ALC.

This was a really cute story! The beginning was honestly a little shaky. It felt like it was kind of insta-lovey, which is not a trope I’m usually a fan of, and like it was leaning too far into the science/academic stuff. But I decided to stick to it and I’m really glad I did. Once the “switch” happened, the story really took off. It was a great take on that Freaky Friday scenario and even though it was a little silly, I was really into it. I loved the humor and fun references too. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author in the future.

Thank you @netgalley for this Audio ARC

Serena Otaki is an American Physicist who lives in Geneva Switzerland. She is an a big nerd who loves Star Trek. She works on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Sara is all about work and not much else. Sarah is having dinner one night at the local bar/restaurant and she ends up having a one night stand with a British fellow.
The chemistry between the two of them was amazing. All is well until she goes to work and finds out that her new boss Henry Joule is that one night stand guy.
She soon finds out that Henry Joule is a grumpy, uptight neat freak. They keep the relationship to business only. They are pretty much work enemies. One day while the two of them are at work a major electric storm occurs which affects them and causes the two of them to switch bodies. As they come to the realization of the predicament they are in they realized they need to stay close and as they need to figure out how to get out of this mess. As time goes by and they are getting to know each other and they are even having memories from each other. They also are coming to realize that this may end up being permanent. “Serena” ends up finding a pyschic to consult with. This psychic ends up giving them some good advice.

The first part of the book was a bit boring but it gets so interesting, fun and hilariout as Serena and Henry have to learn to navigate their new lives and find a way back to their own bodies. The end was a bit predictable but just perfect for this book.

This was an interesting way to explore a relationship. I was hesitant to read this at first because I am usually not a fan of sci-fi or fantasy, but I really enjoyed Henry and Serena (Ducky) and their love story. The way they met was unique and he came to her rescue. Little did they know, he was her new boss. The one night they spent together was magical and he fell fast and hard. She did too, but she was scared and determined to end it before it could change her.

I’ve read plenty of books where the man ran away from his feelings, but this might have been the first where the woman ran. I understood where she was coming from, where her career was concerned, but I felt bad for Henry when she ended it so harshly (even though she tried to stop the ruse). I figured out why they switched and what she had to do in order to switch back, but I was surprised by a few things about him that came to light.

While switched, they both learn about the other, not just trivial stuff, but important things as well. I loved the fact that they both experienced highly important events in each other’s lives. When Serena was Henry she had to be the best man at his brother’s wedding. He had to be by her mom’s bedside when she was in the hospital. Each life event revealed things about and to them, only they had to tell each other what actually happened during private moments.

When they finally switched back, it was all interesting to see how it would affect them. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more from Ms. Ready. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

The narrators did a great job bringing the story to life. I found it difficult to tell if James was narrating throughout or if it was just at the one point in the book. I would definitely listen to another narrated by these performers.

I adore Sarah's writing and I loved this second book in the Ghosted series. Henry and Serena are so much fun and I loved this romantic take of a freaky friday switch. I also enjoyed the physics in the story and the intelligently witty banter. Having to switch accents was perfect for the audiobook and Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster did a fantastic job with the narration. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

"Switched" is a story about Serena Otaki and Henry Joule, how fate and science brought them close, closer than most people would like. Serena is a scientist who believed that her only love in life is her job, but when she met Henry, her feelings started to change. During a late night at the particle collider, they switched bodies, which led them on a journey of family, friends, and happy and sad moments to learn the true meaning of love and what it means to them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Serena was a fun character, although a bit infuriating in the way she tried to let Henry down in the beginning. During the few days they spent together, it became clear why they had such different views on love. The story also scientifically explains the body switch, which I found very interesting. It's clear that the author did a great deal of research. The scientific explanations also added funny moments between Serena and Henry, such as their different tastes and how they were compelled to continue with the other's routines.

Kelsey Navarro Foster did a great job with the narration, managing to portray two characters in switched bodies with minimum confusion.

Thanks to NetGalley and W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC, and the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) Members' Audiobooks for providing me with an early, free copy of this book.

Thanks for the NetGalley ARC of the audiobook

Let’s just say that this a freaky Friday I’d like to see made into a movie. I was not prepared for some aspects of the book, as had several meeting and had to stop the book because of me laughing and not being able to multitask while listening it is that good. I was able to finish the book in about two days due to having to pause for meetings at work.

A great take on love always finding a way and I’m glad these two were able to find it.

This is one book I don’t mind having in different/many forms.

American Serena Otaki is in love with physics. She is working at her dream job in Geneva at the Large Hadron Collider. She is messy chaos. She meets Henry an organized Brit at the local bar and he helps her out of a sticky situation. They end up making love and Serena freaks out when she feels that love. Then finds out Henry is her new boss. During an electric storm something happens and Serena and Henry switch bodies Freaky Friday style.

I really liked this book. It was so fun to listen to the narrators. They did a fantastic job narrating this hilarious Stem romance. The writing style hooked me right away.

This is such a fun series - another hit for me from Sarah Ready!
I love the mix of romance + nerdy/science elements we’ve gotten in this one & Ghosted.

💭 thoughts:
While magnetically drawn together in a love-at-first-sight moment, Serena & Henry are complete opposites, and body swapping had them able to see a different perspective.

I loved the why behind this one - it wasn’t just a random idea, but for the main characters to truly get to know one another, and understand each other fully.

This one is a bit lighter than the last few (no tears for me!). It’s also HILARIOUS - I hope this isn’t a spoiler, but Henry getting “his period” had me laughing out loud so hard.

🎧 audio thoughts:
This was so incredibly impressive, I’m not sure how Kelsey Navarro Foster was able to manage this one! She had to do both American & British accents in both male and female voices, and somehow keep track of who was speaking and in which body 🔥🤯

While the audio was fantastic, you’re missing out without an ebook/physical copy - there are a bunch of fun/hilarious doodles that are described, but more awesome to see!

📚 Series note - this is book 2 in the series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. The couple from the first book appears in this one, so it would spoil it a bit.

Serena Otaki, a free-spirited Californian, finds joy in smashing atoms at The Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. With a love for Star Trek, spicy tofu, and her cat, Captain Purrk, Serena is content with her chaotic and unattached life. On the other side of the spectrum is Henry Joule, an uptight Brit who loves making analog black holes, drinking tea, and maintaining order. Despite their differences, they have one thing in common – a love for physics.

Thank you NetGalley and W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for allowing me to listen to an early of this audiobook.

Even before starting this book I knew I would have liked it since I am a 2000 baby and absolutely loved It´s a boy Girl Thing.
If you, like me, were a fan of thet little gem than Switched it´s definitely for you.

It is a laugh out loud book, very easy and happy going with a super nice approach to the switching body concept.
I loved that even if the main character switched their bodies were craving what they were used to. I think it was a super nice and distinctive touch.

The audiobook was very well produced and the voice actress did an amazing job with the accents. I was laughing out loud when Serena was trying to do the brithish accent. Chef kiss.

Also Henry was so sweet. I love a well written cinnamon roll.

3.5/5

Serena is an independent physicist living her best life with no plans of love on the horizon. Henry is her polar opposite and can’t wait to find his future wife. Can I make it any more obvious? (I sincerely hope you read that to the tune of Sk8r Boi.) Serena and Henry share a perfect night before deciding that’s all it will be…until a storm causes them to switch bodies.

I knew I had to pick this one up as soon as I read the Freaky Friday-esque synopsis (I mean, are you really telling me that Ultimate is not still on your playlist?!). While it took me a bit to get into the story, I was really intrigued after the switch happened. Serena and Henry’s banter as each other was cute, and it was really heartwarming to see them grow and understand the other person’s quirks and perspectives. I really enjoyed all the nuanced references, like Serena’s cat, Captain Purrk, and per usual, Sarah Ready did a great job creating a fitting atmosphere for her characters. Overall, this was a cute, fun one, and I can’t wait to see what the author puts out next.

Thank you to Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, and NetGalley for the advanced listeners copy in exchange for my honest review. This book is out today!

DNF at 6%.

I received audiobook for free as an advanced reader copy; however, I felt like it was torturing me and I refused to submit to torture.

1. There is a SMALL chance this book could be enjoyable in written form. I usually LOVE audiobooks unless the narrator is absolute crap. In this case, the poor narrator did the best she could, but the source material was NOT meant for audio. This book has footnotes. First of all, it is rare for footnotes to be enjoyable. They are a necessary evil in scholarly works. Even in most nonfiction, I find them difficult to work with. In fiction, footnotes are dumb. And in an audiobook, footnotes make the book almost unreadable.

If this author had chosen to do one footnote here or there for VERY IMPORTANT THINGS, then maybe I could forgive her. I get it. The heroine is a SCIENTIST. Oooh. Big f'ing deal. I do not need to have joules defined for me (for one example).

2. Even without the footnotes, the inner monologue is EXHAUSTING. Seriously, there is not much to the beginning of this book other than constant inane monologuing. For absolutely NO purpose.

3. The "meet cute" is SO DUMB. She gets stuck to a chair in a bar and when she catches the eye of a nearby man, she accuses him of doing it. He says "Do you feel it too" and then she starts monologuing about how attracted she is to him and how this can't be insta-love. It must be insta-lust. WTF!? How did that happen? She was just accusing him of gluing her to the seat.

4. She gets glued to her seat because she sat on a chair labeled "fresh varnish. do not touch". There are so many irritating things about this made up situation, it just makes my eyes roll over and over.
a. Why the F would the bar varnish a chair and then LEAVE IT OUT WHERE ANYONE COULD SIT ON IT!?
b. Even if the varnish was on a bench or something immovable, why wouldn't she see the sign?
c. Even if she did sit in it and that made sense, HOW did the barkeep not come over to get her out!?

She ends up stripping off her pants (and presumably leaving them at the bar?) and then leaving with the hero in his coat. She (of course) is going commando that day so doesn't even have underwear on.

----
I finally stopped when she's in his hotel room, ready to have a one-night stand. I did NOT feel their attraction at all.

Happy publication day!!! 🎉

Sarah Ready has quickly become one of my favorite romcom authors with her fun, flirty and heartwarming stories. Switched is the second book in the Ghosted series, and while it can be read and enjoyed as standalone, Gillian and Daniel from the first book do make cameo appearances. I enjoyed Gillian and Daniel’s story in Ghosted, but really loved Gillian’s quirky best friend Serena, a brainy physicists, so I was tickled pink to learn that Switched was her story.

In a somewhat reimagined Big Bang Theory meets Freaky Friday, Serena and Henry find themselves switched into each other’s body. My heart went out to them as I watched them navigate the complications of their new reality while coming to terms with the possibility that it may be permanent.

I really enjoy listening to Ms. Ready’s stories and Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster do a great job bringing this one to life. I loved the chemistry and banter between Serena and Henry couldn’t root for them enough as they embarked on what turned out to be a journey of self discovery.

The inclusion of graphs, drawings and footnotes peppered throughout the story was a fun way to showcase Serena’s quirky idiosyncrasies, but I will say, the footnotes in the ebook were a bit cumbersome to toggle back and forth reading, but were more fluent in the audio narration, really fun. Similarly, I enjoyed the diagram’s in the ebook, but they were difficult to visualize in the audio narration.

This was such a fun and heartwarming story about self discovery, staying true to oneself and realizing you really can have it all. When I’m sad to leave the characters behind at the last page, I know it was a great story.

I had the privilege to listen to and read advance audio and digital copies of this heartwarming story. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for this opportunity. This is my honest review and the opinions expressed are my own.

This book was so adorable. I loved Ghosted by this author and when I heard a second one in this interconnected series was coming out I had to jump all over it! I really loved this Freaky Friday esk plot line and the depth of the characters, all the while still being so funny and lighthearted. I read this in one sitting because I couldn’t get enough of the characters and their stories. The back and forth / push and pull of their characters and stories really keeps the reader entertained and wanting more. I loved every moment and it’s such a cute romance to get lost into. Highly recommend.

Switched is the 2nd book in the Ghosted series and after reading and loving book 1, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one.
This is Serena and Henry's story. These two had quite an unusual meet cute and an undeniable connection which they both felt, but after a one night stand, she pushed him away as she was very career minded and didnt believe she could have both a careet and a relationship.

As both MC's were scientists, the story was heavily science focused. One stormy night, the unexpected happened and they both switch bodies. They were now forced to stay together to figure out how to switch back and along the way they learn some very important facts about each other and began to see each other in a different light. I loved that we got to experience the changes and growth in their characters. They really were perfect for each other and I was rooting for them throughout.

I really enjoyed this charming tale and found it amusing with some great banter, tension and chemistry. I felt the beginning was a bit slow but it soon picked up and had me fully engrossed. Like book 1, this story was different and I would definitely recommend this novel to romance lovers.

🎧
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel which was narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster & James Anderson Foster. It was mostly narrated by Kelsey, who was able to switch accents and give each character a different voice, with James narrating one chapter and together they brought the story to life helping me to fully enjoy the tale.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Ready, and W.W. Crown, an imprint of Swift and Lewis Publishing, for the ARC.

Sarah Ready has been one of the most consistent authors I’ve read in the last year. I’ve loved everything that she’s written and I was so excited to start this after reading Ghosted in the fall. I always love getting side characters/friends stories.

I’ll start by saying I was so nervous at the beginning in of this book. The way Serena handled some things made me cringe so hard but I ended up devouring this book. I loved the way Serena and Henry got to know each other and understand each other by first hand experience. The Freaky Friday vibes made it almost a nostalgic read. And I loved that a book about two physicists had so much magic! This just cements the fact that I’ll read anything Sarah writes because even when her characters do something I don’t like, I end up falling in love with them!

I love the narration on the audio book. The different voices the narrator made really brought the story to life.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
