When Serena and Henry share a perfect night, it seems like love is in the air.
Actual Love, Henry welcomes it, but Serena pushes it away having already found the love of her life, Physics.
Serena is not willing to sacrifice her career, or herself for a man.

When Serena and Henry find themselves caught in the middle of an electrical storm, they wake up the next day in each others body.
This is a romantic comedy / Freaky Friday mashup, and I loved it.

I really enjoyed Sarah Ready's previous book, Ghosted. In that review I said I had a feeling who the next book would be about, and that I was excited to read it. So I jumped at the chance to read this one and I was not disappointed.

I am usually not one for magical realism, I want all magic or no magic at all.
But I love this series.
I love the story, the characters, the dialogue, it was a really cute and fun read.

Serena (Ducky) Otaki is a physics loving, messy, chaotic cat-lover, with no desire to fall in love or get married kind of woman. She is in love with her job, and she is perfectly content with that. She has a one-night fling with a man named Henry who she felt a little more towards than she would have liked to feel. She quickly calls it off when she finds out that she is going to be working with Henry because what an awkward mess that would be. 1 year later, she and Henry are still at the same job and Serena is convinced she made the right call when ending things with him because she can absolutely see that he is not someone she could be romantically interested in.
Henry Joules, who is anything but messy and chaotic, does look forward to falling in love and getting married in the future. He realizes he and Serena's night together was a mistake as well but there was something about her that he couldn't quite let go. When they are together at work and the unexplainable happens during an electric storm, Henry and Serena are switched. Henry is in Serena's body (awkward) and Serena is in Henry's body (awkward again). This is where I had a lot of laugh out loud moments, especially when Serena is learning her new body. How long will this last and what in the world are they supposed to do to switch back?

This was such a cute book and made me smile a lot- this is my first time listening/reading to anything by this author and it was very enjoyable! I feel like listening to the audiobook was even better because Henry has a British accent and Serena has an American accent- getting to hear them practice talking like the other was a fun little detail that made the book that much better!

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of switched by sarah ready

I absolutely loved this book !! The humor , the tension , the emotion in it left me hooked making this one of the rare book that made me finish them in one sitting . I listened to it while reading the book .The bouquet scene with Niall had me cackling for 5 minutes straight. This audiobook got 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons 1. I would have liked more chapters in henry’s point of view. 2. I did not like that the chapter from henry’s point of view they switched the voice actor which got me a bit distracted. I would 100% recommend this book for freaky friday fans.

This is a delightful story. I listened to the audiobook version. It was nice to have the different accents for the characters and make it easier to follow who says what. I liked how the author blended humor, science, family relationships, and romance into a cohesive, entertaining story. Serena, "Ducky", is all about the science and physics. She has a skewed interpretation of what a romantic relationship looks like and it has colored her entire outlook on her future. The she meets Henry, by chance, at her favorite little English pub in near Geneva, Switzerland and sparks fly. They have an incredible, passionate night and then Serena retreats because, you know, complications for her future....
This is an entertaining RomCom with well defined characters and a delve into Serena's psyche and her single-mindedness relating to her future and her career. Can Henry help her see that her future can be more than a career?

I remember reading Ghosted last year and absolutely loving it! So, when I found out that Sarah was releasing a new book set in the Ghosted universe, I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible. However, I have to say that Switched didn't quite hit the same spots as Ghosted did, at least not for me.

The story follows Serena, a California girl living in Geneva, Switzerland. She's a Trekkie at heart, a vegetarian, and is passionate about physics because she believes science can explain everything. One night, she meets Henry, a British man who's incredibly organized and looking for his true love. Needless to say, he's the exact opposite of Serena. After their one night stand, Serena discovers that Henry is her new boss and she freaks out and leaves. Things are going as well as they can between the two until an electric storm changes everything, making Serena reevaluate her feelings and priorities.

What I didn't like about the book was Henry's behavior. He was a virgin until the night he and Serena met, which was fine, but his obsession with boobs and his hormonal teenage behavior every time he saw them or heard the word was a bit off-putting.

What I loved about the book were the STEM characters, the strong family connections, the mother-daughter lessons, and the strong women characters, including Serena, her mom, and Henry's mom. I also loved the amazing narration by Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster.

Thank you to Netgalley and W. W. Crown, an imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC. for the ARC and ALC in exchange of my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book! It was so funny and I laughed out loud a bunch while listening. The characters are relatable and well developed. I like that the author didn’t skip over some of the more uncomfortable things that would come with switching bodies. Like Henry has to experience Serena’s monthly visitor and Serena had to deal with a certain male bodily function and it was really funny and entertaining. The end of chapter 38 made me audibly gasp because I didn’t see it coming. Overall, a really fun listen. 4/5 stars

We start by meeting Serena Otaki, a free-spirited Californian whose love for smashing atoms at The Large Hadron Collider is as bold as her love for Star Trek and spicy tofu. On the other side of the pond, we have Henry Joules, an uptight Brit who enjoys making analog black holes, sipping piping hot tea, and keeping his pencil tray meticulously organized. We first met Serena in book 1 in the series Ghosted, and I loved getting her story. Life seems perfect for both Serena and Henry until one fateful night when they meet, and after the best romp, Henry declares his love, and Serena freaks out and grabs her phone before retreating to the bathroom. While looking at her emails she finds she has a new supervisor.... Henry! She runs and stops this before it really begins.

Except.... the universe decides to play a little prank on them. Fast forward and its a little over a year later and an unexpected event at the particle collider leads to a switch – Serena finds herself in Henry's body, and Henry lands in Serena's. Cue the chaos, the hilarity, and a journey that defies the laws of both physics and love.

What makes "Switched" an absolute standout is the sheer uniqueness of the story. Sure switching bodies isn't new, but other moments were, such as when Serena breaks the 4th wall and talks to us. Sarah Ready takes the concept of a body switch and injects it with humor, heart, and a touch of cosmic magic. The collision of Serena's free-spirited chaos with Henry's uptight order creates a dynamic that makes Serena's character relatable to me. I also love the opposites attract trope.

The Authors ability to weave humor into the narrative, coupled with her vivid descriptions, brings the characters and their unconventional predicament to life. From Serena's messy apartment to Henry's spotless home, the contrasting elements add layers to the storytelling. I also loved how she gave us a scene with the characters in Ghosted.

The chemistry between Serena and Henry, despite being in each other's bodies, is electric. The way they navigate this unexpected twist in their lives is not only hilarious but also surprisingly touching. The story explores the idea that love is not confined to appearances or the expected norms, and sometimes, it takes a cosmic mix-up to reveal the true connection between two souls. Excellent Read.

Loved the concept of this book. It was so clever and I am already a fan of Sarah Ready. I loved the characters and I really did chicks in science.

Such a great book. I have a couple of problems with it... Ducky is from pretty in pink... Not 16 candles and it's toad in the hole... That one hurt me everytime it was called a wrong name.

I loved how this book ended and the audio was excellent! I was thoroughly entertained!~

What a twist and roller coaster this was!!

This was such a fun audiobook. Its starts with a meet cute between a man and woman ... AND HE FALLS FIRST!! I love that. Some how the FMC found a way to muck it up however her reasoning is beyond relatable. I found everything about the two characters navigating their life extremely relatable (minus the scientist part, I'm just me.)

I wasn't ready for the actual twist and them literally experiencing each other lives in their bodies... talk about a freaky Friday switch but with a bit more too lose. I love the development of the characters and the storyline.
It was paced perfectly and left nothing to question. I really went back and forth on who I was rooting with while they were figuring things out and the outcome is just what you wanted. I love a good HEA.

I also really loved the Star Trek references. There were several references and jokes that made me LOL.
Highly Recommend.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Switched was kindly provided as an ARC by Netgalley and W.W. Crown. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy this wonderful book!

Release Date: 2/20/24

Ya’ll. This was such a good book. I loved Serena and Henry. Their meet-cute was perfect, and it was so fun watching their story evolve. The narration was really good, as it gave voice to Serena’s sarcasm perfectly.

I also loved the layers of this story. Learning about their friends and families, and how those people shaped who Serena and Henry are today, really gave depth to a story that maybe could have just been silly or surface level.

The ending of this book SHOCKED me. Not in a bad way, but it was just such a perfectly executed plot twist that I HAD to know what was going to happen.

I think anyone would enjoy this book, no matter what genre you normally gravitate too.

FREAKY FRIDAY FOR ADULTS! The MFC is a HOT MESS!! Serena Otaki, in love with physics and tofu, has allowed her ideas of love and relationships become colored in a negative way by what she assumed she saw. Because of this has sworn off love and relationship and has decided that "fun" was a better option. That is until she meets Henry Joule and he threatens to demolish her entire way of thinking. In an effort to stay with her original mind, career over love, she ends her brief relationship in quite a theatrical way, before it can begin. A year passes, an explosion happens and they are switched! The beginning of the book stressed me out with the unneeded science lesson, I almost dnf'd the story because of it; I had to really press to get to the good part, I am glad that I did. This story actually touches on the ideas of many of today's career minded women, telling a story that is honestly in my opinion, pretty sad, in a very light-heartedly comical way.

If you can handle sitting through science class for a couple chapters, you will enjoy this story.

I love anything Sarah Ready!!! This was no exception. Super super cute!! You do not need to read ghosted before this one, it is great alone.

4.5 stars (rounded up on my rating)

This book was so delightful, charming, and funny, and I devoured the whole thing in a day! It was a Freaky Friday plot but make it science-y. I loved that Serena and Henry were forced through one of the most eventful weeks in their lives where they had to learn to lean on each other while simultaneously being each other. The banter was perfect and I was smiling so hard at the end!

The narrator for the audiobook was amazing - she switched between American and British accents for both main characters absolutely flawlessly.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This was a cute rom-com. I didn’t realize it was the second in a series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

I thought the Freaky Friday body-swapping plot was entertaining, and I haven’t read many books with that trope. It did feel a little too convenient sometimes, as far as experiencing certain of each other’s memories and habits (but not accents, for some reason?).

Unfortunately, I struggled with the main character. She was so chaotic and ✨quirky✨ I enjoyed it much more during the body swap, but she wasn’t a character I could really connect with. And the fourth wall breaks killed me, not in a good way.

This book did have funny footnotes, which I always enjoy! I thought the parts involving their families were sweet.

This one was just okay for me, and took me a while to get into.

This book was a slow starter for me, but once we got into it, I loved it. Sarah Ready is absolutely an auto-buy author for me, and this book was no exception.

To be honest, this is a second in a series, but fret not, it is not required to read the first, this read easily as a stand-alone. It read like a more fun freaky Friday with small moments of The Big Bang Theory. It had typical California girl, Serena and her awkward former one night stand (and current colleague) Henry switching bodies. It has moments that are awkward, like Serena being the best man at Henry’s brothers wedding, or secrets they didn’t share to make things happen. The he falls first, magical realism, nerdy mash up, with little communications created a unique and fun reading experience. As I said it was a slow start but absolutely worth it in the end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Four stars.
I haven't read Sarah Ready before, so this was a really lovely surprise. I loved this book. I really liked both main characters (it's been awhile!) and I loved that they were both science academics. Sarah Ready's writing is smooth and easy to follow. It's kind of like eating chocolate mousse (maybe revealing a bit too much about myself now). It was extremely consumable and went down a treat.
The story caught me up from the very beginning and carried me along with no difficulty. I just wanted to keep reading and I couldn't get enough. I immediately checked and saw that Sarah Ready has written a number of other books, and I was do happy to see that! I
I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Serena and Henry. I wasn't sure at first about the idea of them switching bodies, but boy did the author write this well. It didn't annoy me at all (these types of plots often do) and in fact, I really liked how it all was spun out for the reader.
The only reason I marked this one down a star is because I do enjoy a bit more spice in my romance novels. Their romance was written so well, and they had such amazing chemistry, I just wanted more. This is both a good and a bad thing probably! As I said above though, I am so happy to have discovered Sarah Ready and have already begun recommending her to people I know will like her books. I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of her books. I'm so glad to have found another must read author!

Thank you Netgalley, W. W. Crown, (an imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC) and the amazing Sarah Ready for an advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and IBPA for this early arc in exchange for my honest review.

Serena Otaki lives a simple life. She's a scientist smashing atoms together in Geneva who loves Star Trek, coffee, and being single. Physics is her one true love and she wants it to stay that way. Henry Joule is a scientist who makes analog black holes and is otherwise her opposite in every way--neat(freak), British, tea lover who wants true love, marriage, and a family. But on one perfect night Serena and Henry meet and what ensues can only be called instalove......until Serena panicks that love may change her and put her career at risk, especially since Henry is supposed to be her new boss. So she runs from their connection. A year later an electrical storm causes an unexpected physical event at the particle collider and suddenly—they’ve switched. Freaky Friday style. Now both life and love have become very complicated.

I like the timeline of this story. I enjoyed the pacing, instalove to borderline animosity to friends to maybe more. The writing is vivid, funny, clever, and easy. I don't love commitmentphobes traditionally, but Ready takes the time to really show us the family life of each of our leads so we can better understand their viewpoints, fears, and desires. This is raunchy in its jokes. I imagine randomly and unexpectedly switching into the body of someone of the opposite sex would come with some sexual jokes as well as confusion. But I think it's all handled tastefully. The love between our leads just feels palpable. The yearning is undeniable. I read this in one sitting it was so easy and fun.

Switched is the second book in the Ghosted series, though I think it can easily be read as a standalone. Personally, I liked Ghosted better, but Switched was still an enjoyable read. I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version, which I thought was well-done, especially with portraying the various accents of different characters.

I liked the portrayal of Serena being a woman working in science, though sometimes I felt like the science references were a little bit lost on me. That said, you could feel her passion for the field. The body switch give the book a little bit of a paranormal feel, but this was something I expected. There were definitely some laugh-out-loud moments along the way, but also a lot of soul searching as Serena and Henry learn about each other during their predicament. There was a lot of character growth, especially for Serena, as she came to better understand herself, Henry, and the reasons she didn't want to have a relationship. Switched kept me wanting to read more, and I was able to finish the whole book within a 24-hour timespan.

Thank you to Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks, and NetGalley for the advance audiobook of Switched. All opinions in my review are completely my own.

For this being my second Sarah Ready book I didn't think it was as good as the first. To be honest, this book did feel a little predictable throughout and it did feel a lot like the movie Freaky Friday. I normally understand walking a mile in someone else's shoes, but I wasn't the biggest fan of how Sarah did it in this book. I did like how the characters got to know each other through their feeling and their own eyes (to a point). I loved seeing some of the characters from her previous book Ghosted and having them be side characters. Overall, I still enjoyed this book, but I will probably be a little hesitant to pick up another book of hers.
