I enjoyed this story, but it didn’t grab me quite the same way as the last three books I read by Ready (French Holiday, The Space Between, and Ghosted). Something about the amount of geeky science love in the earlier pages and the way it didn’t quite mesh with the fantastical Freaky Friday-esque aspects later on, just didn’t quite work for me. But still, it had plenty of that Sarah Ready-magic to keep me entertained.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster did an excellent job narrating the audiobook.

Thank you Sarah Ready, W.W. Crown, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

Every time I read a Sarah Ready book, I know I am in for a new, unique, heartfelt adventure. Switched intrigued me from the start, and I couldn't get enough of Serena and Henry's magical whirlwind of a romance. These two had chemistry right from the start, but Serena didn't believe in love until one fateful night when destiny had a way of switching things up. Both then experienced a whole new perspective and outlook on their lives and fell deeply in love after all.

Kelsey Navarro Foster narrates this book featuring James Anderson Foster. Kelsey never ceases to impress me with her captivating performances. Having to switch back and forth between female and male POVs and take on a British accent at the same time had to be a challenge. Kelsey successfully navigated these character transitions with grace and poise, and I enjoyed her performance. James voices a small part giving us insight into Henry's personality.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Sarah Ready.

Bravo for another fun read from Sarah Ready! I enjoyed the little connections to Ghosted as I enjoyed that story as well and loved seeing their happily ever after continuing. As for Henry and Serena, it took a little while for me to understand the instant love connection and star dust then the quick separation or jolted connection, however it worked when the freaky Friday situation occurred and we learned through the story with the characters even deeper intricacies of the situation. I really enjoyed the funny predicaments they got into when switched and I really appreciated how much they did for each other in those situations out of mutual respect and love. Overall 4.5 ⭐️, I continue to everything Sarah Ready writes!

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Ghosted, so I was excited to read the next instalment. Switched isn’t a follow on exactly but does heavily reference characters and plot from Ghosted so I would recommend reading the first book before this one. I really enjoyed this book. It was pure escapism and fantasy with bags of humour and a whole heap of feel good. I loved the two main characters so much. I was really invested in the story and hoping for a good ending. If you like a little escapism then I would recommend this book. I gave it 4 stars.

Switched is a cute, heart warming freaky Friday-esque story where a man and woman switch bodies. What ensues is both funny and poignant. Readers see how opposites really can attract when the heart and mind are opened to new experiences.

This was a four star read for me and the first book I’ve read by Sarah Ready.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Ready, and Swift & Lewis Publishing for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook ahead of its proposed February 20th, 2024 release date in exchange for a candid review.

Okay to start, I both listened to and read a digital ALC and ARC at the same time because that's just my preference when I can make it happen. I'm so grateful to have been able to listen and review this ALC provided by NetGalley and W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC as well as the digital ARC which I have already reviewed. This review is largely the same as my ARC review but has been modified to include information specifically regarding the audio version!

OMG I'm obsessed with these books!! I was sure this one couldn't be better than Ghosted (the first one that I just finished a couple days ago) but somehow it was?? Or maybe they're equally good, I don't know, I just know that I absolutely loved this book!!! Apparently there will be a third called Fated which I cannot wait for so I hope it's coming out soon even though technically this one isn't even out yet😂

If you read/listened to Ghosted -- the book before this one, though both can be enjoyed as standalone stories -- then you already know a little bit about Serena, basically that she's a Star Trek fan, lives in Geneva, Switzerland and is the love 'em and leave 'em type who doesn't plan to get married or fall in love. She's a California girl, super smart and funny and her one true love is physics. In Switched, we meet Henry, the love interest, who is all for love and marriage and has a big loving family that he's very close with. He's also a physics genius like Serena and after a chance encounter he's convinced she's the woman he'll marry. Well... at first. But life, and mostly Serena, have other ideas and they settle on their one night together being a mistake, which of course it is since they are complete opposites and it turns out Henry is Serena's boss -- which she finds out very shortly after their time together. Fast forward about a year and a half and, thanks to some crazy science, the two have switched bodies. The feelings they thought had been put behind them are very suddenly a complicated mess that they have no choice but to solve together since, you know, they ARE each other.

Features:
*One Night Stand
*Some Instalove
*Opposites Attract
*Forced Proximity
*Fake Dating
*Only One Bed
*Slow Burn
*Individuality
*Science & Magic

There's so much to say but how to say it without giving everything away?? First, Henry is an uptight British man from a big family who loves tea and organization and Serena is a free-spirited only child who detests tea, obviously coffee is the superior choice, and is more organized chaos than anything else. I love how they are opposites but also have their love of physics in common. I was nervous at first because it seemed like it would be instalove and in a way it is but more of a "recognizing your soulmate" kind of way that isn't easy and lovey-dovey from the jump. I love getting to see Jillian from Ghosted a little bit and that both besties have experienced completely impossible life-altering situations. The scene where Serena realizes she is very much not in her own female body is hilarious and honestly most of her scenes are. The descriptive writing and characterization is fantastic so kudos to Sarah Ready for writing funny, heartwarming, romantic, kinda suspenseful novels!

Being able to hear Serena's thoughts through the narration by Kelsey Navarro Foster make the story that much more enjoyable. Plus hearing the dialogue between Serena and Henry, via narrators Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster, is a game changer!! Especially since Henry has a very delectable British accent. Considering Serena and Henry have body swapped, they obviously have to speak with each other's accents at times and I have to say that their practicing is 100x more enjoyable when you can listen to it and not just read it off the page. The narrators do a fantastic job at bringing our main characters to life and were a perfect fit. Their voices are very clear and just great to listen to, helping the story to flow seamlessly. I love finding a good audio and if that's the reading format you prefer than I recommend this one wholeheartedly, but if you prefer reading from the page it's just as good. One of the nice things about the audio too is that with the footnotes, you don't have to click on them obviously or wait until the end to read them out of context, the narrators just go straight into what each footnote says as they occur which was really nice for me because it feels more like a natural progression of those scenes. Almost every scene had me smiling or laughing to myself and it just is a really happy read/listen. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good, entertaining, funny romance with likable characters, banter, chemistry, magic and "Freaky Friday" references. Sarah Ready has officially become one of my new favorite authors.

This story has me wishing I was a science girl or Star Trek fan but alas I am not, which did not at all diminish my interest in the book or enjoyment of it but for any physics and Star Trek fans out there, run don't walk to your nearest bookstore or library on February 20th to grab this beauty, which should be available in print and audio.

This books was everything.
It was so fast paced and easy to get into. Right from the start there’s drama which i love.

If you want a freaky friday romance book this is the one for you!

It was easy to follow along and a pretty fast read. You get to see the characters “overcome self challenges” i would say.

I loved how the characters helped eachother through what they were going through and they understood how it felt since it was happening to the both of them.

The tension between these two characters were unmatched. it kept you on your toes wondering.

this book was super unique i’ve never read anything quite like this. and i would definitely read more from this author

Sarah Ready is a rom-com genius - I would read anything she has written! Ghosted was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2023, so I was delighted to learn that it was the first book in a series. I was so excited! I could not wait to read the second book. And boy, did Switched deliver! I loved Serena and Henry's story so much! It exceeded all my expectations and will stay one of my top reads of 2024. This magical romantic comedy was amazing - a beautifully written love story for the ages. It's sweet, humorous, and heartwarming all at the same time. I enjoyed the fast pace of this nerdy, opposites attract romance in all its 'Freaky Friday' body switch goodness. This concept made for some hilarious moments. Sarah did a fantastic job of showcasing the difficulties that Serena and Henry faced while they were in each other's bodies. The reader is taken on a journey of discovery as they follow Serena and Henry's adventures and witness the many humorous and unexpected moments that arise from their predicament. I couldn't help but fall in love with these quirky, adorable characters as they found their way to their true love story. This unique storyline had me 100% invested. As with Sarah's books, this story will stay with me for a very long time - it's that good! Pick this up if you love a delightful rom-com full of science and geekery!

The audiobook truly brought this story to life. The narrator, Kelsey Navarro Foster, was absolutely fantastic! Kelsey totally nailed the voices of Serena and Henry. And, to top it off, the chapter from Henry's point of view, narrated by James Anderson Foster, was perfection!

A Freaky Friday romance of 2 physicists, one that thinks love at first sight is a thing and the other not so much. Very slow build even with the audiobook but I did enjoy it once the switch happened.
Like the first book, Ghosted, very nerdy and STEM focus which I enjoy. This can be read as a stand-alone or apart of the series. They do bring up the characters from the first novel a couple a times.
At first I loved to second view towards the end but I had 2 issues. 1. I wish it was a different narrator or this other listen to the previous voice to ensure that they are matching accents. 2. The chapter felt like it dragged, they were needing to fill space for this one person and half of it seemed to mimic the same book we just read.

I didn’t realize this was book 2. But you can definitely read/listen to this as a standalone.

This audiobook started really slow for me. But ended up being pretty good. It reminded me of Freaky Friday.

Serena and Henry meet for work in Geneva. They sleep together until Serene finds out that Henry is her co-worker. For her, work comes first and she isn’t interested in love. During a storm, Serena and Henry switch bodies *yikes 😬. There are family obligations that Henry has, so they end up having to impersonate each other. Being in each other’s bodies gives them access to their memories and true feelings.

Tropes:
💞 Insta-Love
💞 He Falls first
💞 Opposite attract
💞 Forced Proximity
💞 Fake dating

Thanks to Sarah Ready, NetGalley and W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for this ALC!

This was my first Sarah Ready novel and it won't be my last. In my view, she took the impossible (body switching??) and crafted a story that works beautifully and sends a greater message about the meaning of love and understanding your partner.
Serena Otaki is a physicist who is determined to live her own life, pursue her career, and stay unattached. In her opinion, love changes a person for the worse-- robbing them of their dreams and individuality. Henry Joules is a man who can't wait to find his perfect match and settle down. Serena and Henry meet in a pub when Serena gets stuck (actually stuck) to her seat and Henry comes to her aid. Sparks fly, they have a passionate night, Henry falls in love immediately, and . . . Serena runs. But, it turns out she can't run too far because Henry is her new boss. Here, the book slows down a bit and it got a little frustrating. Henry is upset and feels deceived. Serena lies and says she felt nothing and it was just a night of fun. The two spend over a year just working together and being annoyed with the other's "opposite" nature. Then, an electric storm causes a cataclysmic event at the particle collider where they both work. Serena wakes up in Henry's body, and Henry wakes up in Serena's body. What? Just wait. As unbelievable as it is, it works. The two attend Henry's brother's wedding together, and Serena has to act as best man. Then, the two rush to Serena's mother's hospital bed due to a medical emergency. They literally walk in the other's shoes and see firsthand the "why" behind the other's beliefs and actions. I struggled a little with the fact that even though it was Serena's mind in Henry's body, she was still somehow able to "see" some of his memories (which should also be in the mind and not the body), and vice versa. But, you just have to roll with this one.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration was wonderful. Kelsey Navarro Foster does an amazing job with both Californian Serena and British Henry. The pacing was good. Admittedly, I speed up my audiobooks and listened to this one at 1.5 x speed.
This is book 2 in the Ghosted series, but it reads well as a stand-alone. Jillian from book 1 appears as Serena's friend, and her relationship is referenced briefly. Given how much I enjoyed this story, however, I fully intend to go back and read book 1.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Serena is our main girl in this book. She’s a science nerd who loves physics and doesn’t think she has time, or even enough love in her, for much more. She’s not interested in relationships or getting married, but she does enjoy some fun now and again 😉. She meets Henry, the handsome Brit who can’t be more different from her if he tried. He’s neat and organized while she’s chaotic and messy. He’s also a science nerd, but he really believes in love and wants to get married one day.
When they meet, they have a one-night stand; because our girl just doesn’t want much more. Then we find out Henry is going to be her new boss…. And then we jump ahead a year and a half into the future. They’re working together, and not much else. They both agree that they are so different and will never understand one another when a freak storm hits and they switch places. Serena wakes up in Henry’s body and Henry wakes up in hers. (What a fun concept!) They have to go through several obstacles, including meeting each other’s family, attending a wedding, Henry even gets Serena’s period (lol), all while trying to figure out how to switch back.
Even though I’m nothing like her, Serena was a such a fun lovable character to me. I really got a kick out of her breaking the 4th wall and speaking directly to the reader. I was rooting for her to figure her sh!t out and realize what a great guy Henry was. Henry, on the other hand, I liked him, he was nice, but I really didn’t find his character believable. Such a hottie and he’s a virgin? Falls in love with her after just spending 1 night together? That wasn’t very realistic to me, but really the whole story wasn’t very realistic, so it didn’t bother me too much.
There were quite a few times in the story that I was actually laughing out loud. I even cried at one point, although maybe I was just super tired, but I could not put the book down! I read it completely in 1 day finishing just after midnight!
Overall, it was a cute story and I really enjoyed it. Not considering the plot, the writing was amazing!! I loved the style and am very eager to read another Sarah Ready story. I didn’t realize this was #2 in the series, so I’m on to read #1 now!!

I really enjoyed this audiobook! Sarah Ready always has such great books that are even better when listened to. I have made a review post on my Bookstagram that I have copy/ pasted below as well as linked.

4.5/5
The best way I can describe this book is an Ali Hazelwood stem romance mixed with Freaky Friday! It was so much fun! If you have been following me for any length of time you know what Sarah Ready fan I am. I have yet to be disappointed by one of her books. Now I’ve read 4 of them, and Switched takes the cake at being the most laugh out loud funny and entertaining read of the bunch. The only reasons I deducted from a 5 star rating for this was sometimes when the body switch was occurring it was hard to picture the dialogue/situation correctly in my head, but that’s probably just a me thing. Also for the one chapter with Henry, I wasn’t a fan of his voice actor. He seemed way too old. Overall though, I loved this audiobook!

Switched is a magical realism rom com. It follows our female lead Serena, who is a free spirited California girl who doesn’t want to lose who she is being physicist being in relationship. Serena meets Henry, our male lead, an uptight Brit at bar in Switzerland one night. They are opposites but literally sparks fly! Serena and Henry spend the night together but then go their separate ways as they work together as physicists. One day, an event occurs that switches their bodies, causing hilarities and eventual complicated feelings between the two!

Thank you NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the free advance listening copy audiobook in exchange for a review! I read Switched as a listen now option. Switched officially releases on February 20th. Would 100% recommend checking this book out!

What in the Big Bang Freaky Friday mashup was this book? Fun! That’s what it was. So much fun. What else ? Different! I loved the idea of learning to love someone by seeing the world through their eyes (literally!). It did have an added challenge of keeping the viewpoints straight, but that did not detract. Do you have to suspend reality a bit? Yeah, a bit, but who cares. That’s what makes it fun. So if you’re looking for a quick, easy, and amusing read - start here.

At first, I thought this would be cheesy, and it was, but in a delightful, fun way that actually made me laugh. Serena is a strong willed character who is obsessed with physics. Henry is a swoon worthy hero who is equally obsessed with physics and works with Serena. He falls first (my favorite trope) and then they switch bodies. Every moment after that is both adorable sweetness as they fall in love and hilarious antics resulting from a body switch. Also! this is the same universe as Ghosted so it was awesome seeing those characters (but it can be read as a standalone).

I recieced this ARC for free from Net Galley and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

I say this every time I review a Sarah Ready book! I just adore her books and more people should know about them! Switched was fantastic. It was emotional, heartwarming and humorous! Serena and Henry switch bodies and craziness ensues. Two years earlier, they had a brief affair and definitely felt a deep connection. Unfortunately, Serena’s issues hold her back from being able to have a relationship. They have circumstances that cause them to have to meet each other’s families. I love this story and their journey together. The narrators did a great job. A enjoyable listen! This was just a fun romance! Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book.

ALC REVIEW 🎧
Switched by Sarah Ready narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster & James Anderson Foster

Ghosted #2 (standalone but characters from Ghosted are in this story)

I am speechless. This book was so so so good. The chemistry, the longing, the understanding…it was beautiful! My heart ached for Serena and Henry. Everything was just perfectly woven together for their story. Also, going to Google is Sarah a scientist because the level of detail about CERN, different theories, and such was incredible. I can’t recommend this book enough!

Kelsey was fantastic as always. The number of voices she had to maintain was mind blowing and she executed it perfectly! James was a nice addition to the story (he just narrated one chapter).

Sarah Ready’s second novel in the Ghosted series is a real gem. It’s fun, frothy, flirty and doesn’t take itself too seriously- everything you look for in a romcom. I’ve never read Sarah Ready before, let alone the first in the Ghosted series and it didn’t matter a jot, I loved it.

This is very much a romcom with a smattering of sci fi (body swap / Freaky Friday-esk story line) with two main characters who are physicists and both love science. One loves the idea of love and can’t wait to embrace all that entails into his life, and one who absolutely, definitely hates the idea and sees love as a takeover rather than a merger and has no time for any of it in her career driven life. After a one night stand where their world’s collide Henry believes he’s experienced love at first sight whereas Serena believes she has had a great night of unbelievable sex and a ‘bit of fun’. And then they find out Henry is actually Serena’s new boss and in an experiment gone awry the inconceivable happens and Henry ends up in Serena’s body and Serena’s in Henry’s. And so the whacky begins with Serena and Henry getting to know each other literally from the inside out.

I was sent Switched as an Audiobook in exchange for an honest review and the narration was most excellent, it truly bought the book alive. The writing and narration work hand in hand, the writing makes us like and embrace the warmth of the characters and the narration makes us love them.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing an advanced copy in copy in exchange for an honest review, I highly recommend it - I’m off now to read Ghosted 1.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of Switched by Sarah Ready. As much as I tried, I just could not get along with the writing style of this one. The constant fourth wall breaking really took me out of the story and the footnotes got confusing quickly. The dialogue and word choices were cringey at times. Overall it was a quick rom-com with a magical twist and I would recommend if you’re a fan of the ‘body swap’ trope, as this is the main premise of the story.

Thank you to W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift and Lewis Publishing, LLS and NetGalley for the audio ARC.

Well, if you love all things science, nerdy, and flirty - this is for you! Unfortunately, I do not. I was very much looking forward to this, especially based on others' reviews. I SO tried, but I didn't get far. The conversations were way over my head, and I just ended up having no idea what was going on. I plan to try again when perhaps when I have more mental space to take it in, and in the e-book format (there are apparently footnotes that don't lend well to audio).

The narrators, Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster were both excellent, though. I would seek them out for sure.
