This was indeed a feel good romantic read from Kate Frost and it took place on a beautiful Greek Island. I wish I was there.
Xanthe inherits a cottage on a Greek island from her godmother and she goes there to fix it up and sell it after she leaves her cheating fiancée. Little does she know her Godmother. Set it all up so she’d meet the neighbor and fall in love while also learning about her families history and why her mom never came back to the island where she grew up. All in all it was a good story, slow at time but the description of the surroundings was fantastic and it made me feel like I was there. It made me want to book a trip to Greece. I enjoyed the ending, very sweet.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

A cozy romance set on a beautiful Greek island? Yes, please!

Xanthe inherits a rundown island home from the godmother she hasn't seen in decades. Will her plan to fix up and sell the house pan out? A handsome neighbour and a look into the past might just play a part…

This book brought me back to my Greek honeymoon; I could almost taste the food and see the gorgeous views through the evocative writing. A perfect book to read when you are in need of a vacation escape but can't get there.

'A Greek Island Escape' really is a beautiful, heart-warming read that transported me to Greece and the world of musical theatre. I really enjoyed getting to know Frost's characters, Xanthe and Dimitrios and likeable, and it was a pleasure to follow them during this book. All of the other characters only added to the feel good sense of the read and I could feel their strong relationships.
The plot is good, again it is enjoyable and takes us on a journey from London to Greece. There was a bit of everything in this plot but perhaps too much as I did think the book was a bit too long. If it had been shortened a bit then I think this would have been 5 stars from me.
'A Greek Island Escape' is the perfect escapism read. Pick this up and you will soon find yourself in Kefalonia and surrounded by love.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of A Greek Island Escape by Kate Frost, published by Boldwood Books

I love happy endings! And I want a Villa in Greece. This was a new author for me, but I'm hooked on her books after this one, incredible characters, settings and descriptions. I loved the plot and the ending!

At the beginning of the novel we meet main character Xanthe and her friend and roommate Jude. Xanthe has one more performance and the she plans to escape for 6 weeks of rest and relaxation to Greece, where her godmother Agatha has left her a villa. She would also like to forget her ex, Austin, who shattered her belief in his trust and romance.
This was such a great novel, I loved the story.
The description of the island made me feel like I was there, experiencing it myself.
I loved following Xanthe's story as she fixed up the villa, struggled with relationships both at home in London and in Greece. It was such a feel good novel. I would say an absolute must read if this is your genre. I loved it and will be following Kate Frost for more books.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I loved reading this book. The setting, food and characters.

After Xanthe feels worn out from working on stage, she has also recently come out of a relationship. She feels that she needs time out and to slow down a bit.

Her grandmother leaves her a villa in Kefalonia, something that she wasn’t expecting, and therefore thinks it’s the perfect place for her to rest and relax.

But, when she arrives at the island, she doesn’t get the reception she expected from some neighbours to builders as well as a gardener.

I recommend this book.

Xanthe goes to Kefalonia to relax and recuperate, little does she know how therapeutic her trip will be. A lovely romance to read on a cold winter's day or on holiday. Really enjoyable.

Transport yourself to the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia with Kate Frost’s fabulous new novel. Xanthe has just finished a run on stage playing Nancy in the musical Oliver. She’s completely exhausted and needs a change of pace. When her godmother unexpectedly leaves her a villa on Kefalonia, Xanthe realises it’s the perfect opportunity for some rest and relaxation although once’s she’s on the island, it seems not everyone is pleased to see her. From hostile neighbours to sexy builders and brooding gardeners this is a novel that will entertain you to the end. Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the author for the chance to review.

Another stunning book by Kate Frost. Set in Greece I can't get enough of the stunning locations or Xanthe's story. Kate books so well written and highly recommended pool side read for 2024

I enjoyed everything about this book. The characters were so easy to connect with as I read. The location was great and so well written about I felt like I was there. This is certainly an excellent book to grab as you head out to the beach. The chance that Xanthe was given to change her life and to find what she was missing.
Thank you NetGalley, Kate Frost and Boldwood Books for the copy of the book A Greek Island Escape. This is my personal review.

‘A girl, going through the pain of a breakup, suddenly inherits a property in an exotic village/island from someone she doesn't even know well and then moves to that lovely place and then she meets a handsome but grumpy man, who later turns out to be too good to be true…’

Not to sound rude, but this is one of the greatest clichés in international romances. I'm kind of tired now.

I liked the beginning of the book. The beautiful setting, its description and all that. However, as the story moves forward (if you can say that because for a long time, Xanthe is arranging and fixing the cottage), it gets a little dull.

The situations and conversations (Dimitri-Xanthe first & then second meeting were unexciting/unimaginative. Even her meeting with Irida and Toula could have been more interesting), and those letters didn't really interest me.

Plus, Xanthe ―who is called determined several times ― seemed like a selfish girl to me. She never bothers to talk to or meet her Godmother (who surely loved her very much), or even her grandfather, even though Xanthe is an independent woman. But when she inherits the property, she immediately visits that village so that she can sell it. I mean…this thing could have been handled more sensitively.

For me, this story, set in a beautiful place, lacked depth. If you are a patient reader, and enjoy light reads, you might like it.

Thank you very much for the ARC. Sorry it didn't work for me. Not posting the review anywhere else.

The life of a young actress is on a collision course due to a horrible breakup and burnout from acting. A bequeath of a house on a Greek island provides the respite she desperately needs. Lovely descriptions of the island flow from the author’s pen as the story of family secrets and love unfolds.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A great summer time read to give you a little feel good feeling in your heart. The setting, characters, storyline and the temptation of the delicious sounding Greek food transports you to another place. A great poolside or beach read in the sun. Thank you for letting me read this in advance of publication.

Everything we expect from a Kate Frost book & more!
Life gone wrong, & there’s the perfect ‘bolt-hole’ on a Greek Island. Great characters. Family drama…in several families! Kate captures the island & her people. The last few chapters are riveting & so well written. Such a great & satisfying conclusion to the book.

I absolutely loved this book. I didn't want it to end.

I love the attraction between the characters. This was the first book I read by Kate Frost but it will not be my last.
I highly recommend this book, but make sure you set a time aside to read because you won't want to put it down.

A quick and satisfying read. A young actress returns to a Greek island to get her late Godmother's home ready to sell. While there, she learns of family secrets ,makes new friends and learns about the beauty and the foods of this island that her mother once called home. A book that was great to read on a cold snowy weekend. Probably would be a good beach read (particularly if you are on vacation in Greece!)
