At first you get a bit of information about how this book came to be, then you get to the table of contents. I loved how they organized everything. The cookbook has 2 big chapters: burgers and bacon. But you also get an index right after the table of contents that tells you where you can find every sauce, topping, bun recipes and many more that can be found in this book.
For every burger recipe you actually get a few smaller recipes for the sauce, spread, buns, meat patty or whatever they made from scratch, a photo of the head cook that created the recipe, you the names of the other helpers, cook time and the number of servings you get, an ingredients list (for each smaller recipe), directions for every small part and how to assembly the burger. Each recipe comes with a photo as well. Personally I found some of these burgers to be very extra and I won't make them on a daily basis (some maybe I won't every do due to the special ingredients) but with so many options, you can still mix whatever you like and create your own burger. Personally I love eating them but I always struggle to actually make (or even sometimes to find one at a restaurant) that I truly enjoy, so I can't wait to try a few of these.
The bacon recipes are a lot like the burger ones, but they are quite out of this world and I might try some of them, but usually I'm not a fan of using bacon in a sweet recipe (there are a few and I really have mixed feeling about them, but that's just a personal preference).
This cookbook is not for a novice cook, but for more experienced ones, but don't be afraid to experiment and learn if you want to become a burger (or bacon) master.
This Burger and Bacon cookbook includes recipes voted the world's best at the World's Food Championships. It includes creative and unique burger recipes and bacon recipes, as well as arancini, cupcakes, and cakes.
This cookbook had me craving burgers and bacon so much that I am now trying my hand at Pimento Cheeseburger for dinner!
Great cookbook that has amazing sauce recipes as well!
This World Food Championships' "Burgers & Bacon Cookbook" is definitely not for a novice cook - is very much geared to experienced chefs. However, there were interesting sections - including chef interviews, detailed recipes for various specific burgers and bacon dishes with photos. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
This is a must-have for home cooks, culinary students, backyard self-proclaimed grill masters, sous chefs, and food enthusiasts. Over 300 incredible recipes are featured, inspired by cooking practices and spice combinations of the competitors from all over the world — from burgers made with rich Wagyu beef and pork chorizo and a Surf and Turf burger that includes shrimp to tantalizing peaches and cream bacon cupcakes, Bacon Bliss Pizza, and a Thai inspired Bacon Udon.
Burgers and bacon? What’s not to like here. So many good recipes to try. I was glad to see some recipes for different aiolis as well. It’s nice to have other condiments on your burger besides ketchup and mayo.
Burgers & Bacon Cookbook is a nice "everyday fancy" compilation of burger recipes, sauces, condiments, and tips collected and curated by the World Food Championships team. Released 4th June 2024 by Fox Chapel, it's 189 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats.
It's a niche cookbook but includes a number of -really- versatile high quality sauces and condiments. Surprisingly, for a burger and bacon cookbook, there are a fair number of meatless vegetarian/vegan friendly recipes included. It's not one -aimed- at the meatfree crowd, but neither will they feel excluded.
The standout really is the versatility. These are specific presentations from competition and cook-off winning chefs, but they can easily be mixed and matched in infinite variety.
Recipes are written with an introduction and background info, ingredients in a bullet list, and step by step prep directions. Ingredient measures are given in imperial (American) units, no metric equivalents. Most items will be easily sourced at any large grocery store in North America, some will require a more specialist/international store, or ordering online.
The high point of the book is the photography. The food is well styled and professionally plated, and the book is *full* of competition photos which are fun and fascinating to look at.
Four and a half stars. It would be an excellent choice for public library acquisition, home use, or gift giving to a bacon/burger loving friend. There are some recipes included which would also make excellent gifts (Bacon Peppermint Jam for example which is incredibly tasty and versatile).
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
this one was for my husband! He was excited when I showed him the cover. He was al like "Burgers and bacon, sign me up!" So i was excited to dive into this one. He loved all the varieties of burgers that were offered in this one. It allowed him to explore new things and get new twists on an old favorite.
I was drooling reading this book. The pictures for each recipe was a nice touch. I loved that you got info on each chef and tips for some of the recipes. Every recipe was approachable and easy to follow. It had classic recipes but new more interesting ones too. Great cookbook.
I have been looking for a good burger book for quite some time. I did not have the chance to try the recipes yet but this was very fun to read and a lot of recipes caught my eye.
Stories and interviews were very interesting and gave an insight into competitive cooking, which is a topic I was not very familiar with.
Let's start with the burgers, they all look incredible and they inspired me to experiment with burgers at home. I love that they are all quite different from each other and I am actually planning on using the various topping recipes (like bacon jam, parmesan crisps or onion soup cream) in my non-burger cooking as well. Having no meat options and sausage stuffing style patties was also a big plus for me for both having variety and finding something for everyone.
I love bacon so it is not a surprise that I was a big fan of the bacon part of the book as well. There is a vide variety of recipes ranging from main dishes to desserts and I cannot wait to try them all.
The index is nicely preapred as well, which I learned is a very important factor in judging a cookbook as my collection grew bigger and bigger. A cookbook with a good index gets used much more often in our household.
Overall, instructions are easy to follow and the photos are gorgeous and mouth-watering. It was a joy to read and I am sure it will be a joy to cook from as well.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy!

Burgers & Bacon Cookbook is a collection of recipes from award-winning World Food Championships. The pictures are colorful and look absolutely mouth watering,
My teen son and I are looking forward to trying some of the recipes.

Burgers and Bacon takes recipes from the World Food Champions Competition. Each recipe came from a different champion and really illustrated the variety and versatility of a simple burger! The book included interviews with key members of the WFC and was full of a huge variety of delicious looking recipes that I can’t wait to try!
I love to cook and trying new recipes. This book has loads of new things to try. From burgers, sides, aiolis and sauces. There is something for everyone and every taste. This books is very organized and the pictures are mouthwatering and appetizing. I liked the beginning with the information on the competition and the cooks. This is a must have for a cookbook library.
An extensive table of contents helps to find recipes and specific add ons of sides, sauces and more. The book begins with information about the World food championship that led to bringing these recipes together. Once you get to the recipes, the recipes appear easy to follow directions but have lots of ingredients. This may be more challenging than some basic recipes for burgers.
This is pretty interesting. I love bacon and burgers but my imagination is only ever limited to bacon cheeseburgers. I was surprised by the tons of ideas on this cookbook. I love the layout, it’s magaziney while still being a cookbook. The recipes are detoled, well defined and fairly easy to follow. Oh and lots of pictures for reference!
Needs to come with a warning label!! If you purchase one recipe book this year pick this one up for the burger lover! There are burgers with fabulous eatable photos. Then Bacon lots and lots of bacon. These chefs push the envelop with unique spins on desserts as well. The superbowl of food brought together in one book with step by step recipes complimented with photos that bring the food to life. Need to pick this one up. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher.
My husband loves burgers and bacon and boy does this cookbook have both of those in spades! We are so excited to try out some of these new recipes!
Burgers & Bacon Cookbook is filled with delicious imagery and recipes to satisfy any reader or meat eater. I think the cookbook was well put together and easy to follow. This would be a good book to have in any foodie's bookshelf.
This is an outlandish book full of crazy burgers. I can see using this to make an amazing dinner party burger. The instructions are easy to follow and the ingredients are easy to find. There are many different burgers and other items to make from this book.
I Just whizzed through this one and loved it as I always find burgers rather boring but this books has certainly changed my mind. And with the addition of Bacon and what I can do with that I must say this is a book that will get me cooking more of both of these things.
I can't wait to get started on some new and exciting ways to cook and make burgers and bacon and I know my partner will be enjoying it too. Bring on the Bacon Burger!
