Sanji is such an interesting One Piece character and I loved getting more insight into his story. I like that it spans from his pre Straw Hat time all the way into more current story lines. The art is well done and I enjoy the different style to the original manga. Great read for any One Piece fan!
Sanji is one of my favourite characters in Once Piece and it's great to read a story based around his story. A great for fans of the series.
I love these stories! They fill in some background and missing details of Sani's experiences that shape who he is, even though it's by another creator.
Fun short stories that highlight Sanji and his skills. Tsukada does a great job carrying over Oda's style and storytelling, resulting in stories that fit perfectly within the overall timeline of One Piece. There are still some aspects that left me cringing a bit (the gratuitous fan service and Momoiro), but the development of Sanji's character, relationships with other characters, and showing off of his skills was fun to read.
I've watched less than 100 episodes of One Piece and even less of Food Wars but this was an enjoyable set of side stories featuring Sanji.
Although I was somewhat disappointed that this wasn't a crossover between Food Wars and One Piece, I still quite enjoyed it. The various chapters take place during different arcs up through Wano, focusing on Sanji's cooking efforts and mini-adventures, such as helping a father prepare his daughter's wedding banquet or serving a difficult customer at Baratie before joining the Straw Hats. Regretfully, it does have a chapter during Sanji's time on the island of the Kamas, which is a joke that wasn't funny in 2017 and definitely isn't now. But Shun Saeki's art is lovely, there's a chapter with my personal favorite character (Vivi), and it captures the feel of One Piece well. You'll want to be up on the source material through Wano (including knowing Sanji's past), but if you're a Sanji fan, this is worth it.
(Or even, like me, if you're not.)
Listen... I cant really say anything bad about this. Its a collab of my two favourite animes. In my eyes it can do no wrong.
This digital ARC was obtainable via NetGalley for an honest review!
I absolutely loved this! "One Piece: Shokugeki no Sanji" was a brief break from all of the tension we are currently going through while reading the Egghead arc. Really made miss the days when we just watched the Straw Hats travel and relax. Also, Sanji was looking like a snack!! lol Great volume!
