Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

"On a Quiet Street" by Carla Kovach is a psychological thriller that looks into the intricate web of secrets, lies, and family dynamics. The narrative centers on Leah, who is grappling with suspicions of her husband Cain's infidelity and the resurfacing of traumatic memories following her mother's death. The plot thickens when an 18-year-old named Charlotte arrives, claiming to be Leah's biological daughter, which forces Leah to confront buried secrets and question the truths of her past.

The beginning of the book was great, irritating, but great. The ending, not so much. I didn't have much love for any of the characters and found them all to be 🤬 or 🙄

For those who appreciate narratives that explore the dark undercurrents of seemingly ordinary lives. The narrator was great!

On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach is a standalone novel from the author of the Detective Gina Harte books. As a huge fan of that series, my expectations were high for this one, though I must admit that it just didn't click for me.

So the plot of this intrigued me the most. The narrator did a fabulous job as the characters as well. That’s one of the main things that make or break a audiobook in my opinion.
So this book took me by surprise quite a few times with the plot and where it went.

I enjoyed this one. It was twisty and even shocked me a few times. It was a slower read not as fast paced as what I am used to with thrillers but it still held my attention and enjoyed it. The narrator did a great job with this one, it would have been hard to do what she did.

While this is certainly a solid read, I had a difficult time connecting with any of the characters in a meaningful way, though I suspect that I will be an outlier here. 3.5 stars

‘On a Quiet Street’ written by Carla Kovach and narrated by Annette Chown was an easy, quick listen.

This book reminds me of many others I have read that fall within this genre – The Perfect Marriage, Gone Girl, to name a few. I enjoy reading psychological thrillers that are fast paced and quick, easy reads or books to listen to. I did find the book very predictable and a more basic storyline.

Secrets galore! Every family has some secrets … this book is chockful of them! Leah and her husband, Cain, live ‘on a quiet street’ when Charlotte, an 18-year old, comes to the door claiming to be searching for her biological parents. Leah and Cain find themselves questioning the one they married. Whose child is this? Who is lying – Charlotte? Cain? Or Leah?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this great novel. This was super complex and I feel like there could have been a few less character and the story still would have been good. As it was, it was all over the place with the drama, which makes the title seem misleading. The story definitely kept my attention and I didn’t see the ending coming. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Anything but a quiet street to be seen here. A few too many characters with way too many problems to sort out. For those that enjoy a lot of drama, this one is for you. I had some trouble keeping up with it all and it just wasn’t for me.

When a family keeps secrets they tend to sneak out once a key player is on their death bed. This secret goes deep.

I enjoyed this book. It was a little bit confusing at first but all pulls together nicely. I had many “aha” moments.

And once again a domestic thriller, weaving a tapestry of psychological tension!
Filled with layers of deception, secrets, and a cast of morally ambiguous characters, it becomes increasingly difficult to know who is a friend and who thefoe.

Leah and her husband Cain live in a quiet village, yet beneath the surface lies a web of suspicion. Cain's clandestine meetings and secretive messages awaken Leah's doubts, especially considering his past infidelity with a former neighbor who swiftly departed, selling her home in haste.

Leah finds herself on edge, detecting familiar signs of Cain's past betrayal in his current actions. His mysterious scent and frequent cancellations of plans under the guise of "late meetings" trigger alarm bells. Could history be repeating itself? With whom?

A chance encounter with a stranger seeking her biological parents ignites Leah's fears. She immediately suspects Cain of fathering a child during his affair, now grown and searching for her roots. However, the revelation that the stranger, Charlotte, seeks Leah herself flips the script. Suddenly, the carefully guarded secrets of two decades threaten to unravel, casting a shadow over Leah's once-stable existence.

The narration done by Annette Chown just fit the story perfectly!!!

This mystery/thriller was okay. I wasn’t suspecting everything about the ultimate reveal, which was fun, but it also didn’t “wow” me very much. Part of that may be that I need to diversify my reading genres a bit more; after a while, a lot of these thrillers start to feel the same, and this one (unfortunately) wasn’t an exception.

"On a Quiet Street" by Carla Kovach is a complex thriller. The storyline has its slow moments and occasional dragging sections, but it delivers a complex plot that held my attention. The book primarily unfolds as a slow burn, gradually building tension until it explodes with a twisty ending that races at high speed.

Following the storyline can be a challenge, especially in audiobook form. However, the narration is excellent, The narrator's pleasant voice makes it easy to distinguish between characters.

Overall, "On a Quiet Street" was an enjoyable listen/read. I give it 3.5-stars!

This was a brilliant psychological thriller, helped by a great narrator Annette Chown, which is what's needed in an audiobook.
The book is written using several points of view but is all tied up at the end.
This is my first book of this author but I will read more. It kept me guessing until the end!
