Wow! Talk about shocking twists! I thought I saw this going one way and then BOOM, I was wrong! I could not pull the earbuds out on this one. Excellent narration. I highly recommend ON A QUIET STREET and Carla Kovach!
This was a captivating audiobook. I think the narrator did a good job at keeping my attention. I found the plot to be interesting and twisty. I would have liked to see the beginning and middle of the book be a little more fast paced as it felt like a slow burn for the majority of the book. Has a well done twisted ending as well.
On a quiet street - Carla Kovach
Loved this.. This is the first time reading/listening to a book by this author and I think it was brilliant. It was also very nice to have a narrator that wasn’t monotone and irritating while trying to take the story seriously.
Family secrets always have a way of catching up with you… Leah’s & Angel’s characters were my favourites throughout. 👏
I enjoyed the twisty plot and the unexpected turns that kept me listening to the audiobook to discover who was behind every secret but at some point I found it a bit messy.
The narrator has a beautiful clear voice but I didn't like that she gave some characters a strong accent just once in a while during the narration - I mean, how could the same character feature RP in most dialogs or even single sentences and then a very strong accent in others?
2.5 ⭐, rounded down
This book was not it for me. It started well, with an obviously cheating husband who is gaslighting his wife to the extreme. However the book is very slow and the multiple points of view that jump around too much make it difficult to keep the story straight. Also, the cheating husband has very little to do with the secret child, so it felt very unnecessary.
This was my first book by this author and I have heard good things about her series, but this book was not so great. The narrator for the audiobook was adequate.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance copy of this audiobook.
First off, thank you to Net Galley for the early ARC copy! (That was probably my favorite part of reading this book).
I loved the concept of this book based off the little blurb I read, but the execution was poorly done. It didn't suck me in and I kept forgetting what had happened the previous chapter.
If I could rate this lower, I would but 1/5 stars will suffice.
On A Quiet Street was okay. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best. It really was just a lesson in miscommunication and missed connections. Some of the twists were a nice surprise, but overall, this wasn’t my favorite.
There were parts of this book that were intriguing, but overall I wasn’t pulled in to the mystery like I thought I would be. I think the writing kept jarring me out of it with little choices and inconsistencies. There was a lot of telling vs showing, and I felt like the plot didn’t always make sense. The big twist didn’t really land the way it was supposed to either. But I thought it had great potential and I think I just wasn’t the right audience.
OMG! This book is filled with people who are monsters, her mother being the worst! This was a wild read and I was totally here for it...I didn't see that last twist coming at the end and I love that! This was my 1st book by Carla Kovach but will certainly not be my last! I can't wait to read another book by her! I am adding all of her books to my TBR.

I got the chance to experience this novel via audiobook and man did this book have me outraged in the best of ways. It had me so deeply engrossed in the story that it was hard to put down. I love stories that make me absolutely rage at other characters like Leah’s husband. The gaslighting and trying to blame her for his past deeds made me so mad.
It was interesting to see the story split up between POVs (two different POVs with the 2nd one being later in the book and it eventually switching back and forth at the end) though I much preferred Leah’s. The 2nd person’s was still interesting to have a peak into even though most of the scenes in the 2nd pov were essentially the same scene.
I was disappointed in the wrap up and resolution though. Overall the story did exactly what it was supposed to do and kept me engaged and the narrator did a fantastic job!
On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach ended up a pretty nice read. It was not what I expected but I did enjoy it. At first I could not quite understand where it was going but I did finally got a good sense of it by the middle of the book. I liked it once I put it all together. It was different; there was a lot of misdirection. The narration by Annette Chown was stellar! She was able to portray so many different accents and it definitely added to the story and the whole experience. I do recommend this book if you enjoy psychological thrillers.
Thank you Dreamscape Select, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this audiobook.
Every family has secrets.
And there is no shortage of secrets on the quiet street showcased in this book.
When 18-year-old Charlotte knocks on a couple's front door looking for her biological parents, the revelation of secrets begins.
Although I was intrigued by the book's premise and almost always enjoy "secret" thrillers, this book quickly fizzled.
The book's pacing was S-L-O-W and the twists were predictable.
I listened to the audiobook read by Annette Chown. The narration was good but not great.
Special thanks to the NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

On a Quiet Street is a pretty fast-paced story about Leah. Leah's husband Cain isn't the best husband in the world. In fact, he's done some pretty crappy things in their marriage...BUT when Leah's mother passes away, and Leah has to return to her childhood home, some of her secrets start to come to light. Especially when Charlotte ends up at her front door looking for her parents.
On a Quiet Street started off as one story and then turned into a completely different one. The summary is a little misleading, IMO. I thought Cain was going to have more of a part in it, although it quickly turned into something else. I felt that the nearer the middle/end, the more the characters got a little muddled and confusing for me. There were a lot of characters to try and keep track of at once, and at the same time, you were finding out major revelations bout them...well, it just got a little confusing. I did enjoy the little twist at the very end!
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and the author for the chance to review this ARC!
The narration of this book really brought this story to life! Characters were portrayed well and the audio was easy to follow along with providing a non stop atmosphere throughout. The story did have many twists and turns along with a few curveballs that I never saw coming! There’s much deception and misdirection which is very captivating, because who wants to know exactly where the story is headed? Definitely would recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers and mysteries! Thank you to Carla Kovach and NetGalley for this read.
This book started off very slowly for me and I had a hard time getting into it, but it did get better. The characters were well developed and with deception and twists thrown in, it ended up being a good book. The narration was enjoyable to listen to and I gave this a strong 3 stars and I would recommend to readers who like psychological thrillers.
Thank you to Netgalley for the audio ARC of On a Quiet Street.

All the lies and hidings keep me hooked at the beginning. I love the way that the author presented no one can be trusted. Leah has a strong character and play here. I keep guessing what happened to her and her baby.
The narrator brings the characters alive. The speed picks up from the middle. It then becomes gripping and captivating.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Talk about a book filled with surprises and twists.
I couldn’t stop listening to this audiobook. I finished it in less than two days.
Leah is a character that is strong but that I also feel bad for because no one around her is being truthful about anything in her life.
This book takes us on a wild ride with Leah as she tries to discover what happened 18 years and also what is going on right now in her life as well.
Filled with some very sneaky and vindictive characters and so many surprises.
Loved it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
This wasn't for me. It was a little confusing the characters got all muddled around. Perhaps if it was in book form it would be easier to look back and keep track????? Too much going on....
I feel generous and will give a 3. This is a voted up from 2.5- I am willing to give this author another try.

The narration on this book really helped bring this story to life! All the characters were portrayed so well and it was easy to follow along with and listen to quickly. The story felt fairly straightforward at first but did throw a few curveballs that I never saw coming! There’s lots of deception and misdirection which I love, because who wants to know exactly where the story is headed?!? I would recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers and mysteries!
Really good audio listen with lots of twists and turns and one at the end I was definitely not expecting
