I really enjoyed the audio book version narrated by Annette Chown, she did a fantastic job of keeping you hooked on the intense drama.
On a quiet street follows the quiet happily married suburbia lives of Leah and Cain. All that comes to a crashing halt when an 18 year old Charlotte turns up seeking her biological parents.
Immediately Leah suspects Cain has a secret love child, but the tables are turned when Charlotte reveals information about Leah and she finds herself the one under the microscope.
All the characters in this book have their own plot, history and a reason for being. This is a psychological thriller with some unlikable characters that you just love to hate.
The twists at the end are unpredictable, I definitely didn’t guess where this one was going and it ended on a bang!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape select for the opportunity to listen this audiobook!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this copy.
This was a good book. I could put it down. I loved the twist and I loved the dual POV. Such an easy quick read.
I read this a few weeks ago and it was okay. I liked it enough to give it a listen.
I LOVED it as an audiobook. I felt this completely. Our girl is traumatized and she has this evil mom. Then her evil mom dies and she is confronted by a girl claiming to be her daughter.
The issue is that she doesn't have a daughter. There are a ton of twists.
I loved the ending!

4 stars
Leah and Cain live on a quiet tree lined street. There are plenty of secrets that each of them are hiding from each other. A teenager knocks on the door saying her biological parents live here. Leah works to unravel lots of secrets.
Fantastic narration by Annette Chown.
Full disclosure - this is my genre. Just the cover alone and I was def going to request this audio arc. Domestic drama, cheating, not cheating???, surprise child showing up at the door, gaslighting.....I'm here for all of it. There are a lot of characters to keep up with, and an ending I did not guess (which I love)!.
My only true complaint was the narration, and, again, this is personal. I live in America and understand the drawls and accents, and what to expect from books set in different areas of the country. I do not have that same familiarity with other countries. This one from the UK wasn't the pleasing sound of a Matthew Macfadyen's Mr. Darcy. That accent I could live with forever. This must be a far different UK location and the twangy tone of the narration got old.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to love this book because of the characters from the beginning. I’m glad I stood it out because the characters evolved into the story. This was a great suspense thriller that told the story twice through two different characters. I thought that was interesting and created a full circle experience.
"On A Quiet Street" is a standalone novel by the author of the Gina Harte series.
I was looking forward to giving this one a try after being recommended Carla's books to read.
*TW - Rape*
Throughout the book there is mention of rape and how Leah fell pregnant at 16.
We meet Leah, whos just lost her mum and her husband Cain, who Leah suspects is cheating on her. 18 year old Charlotte turns up at Leah's house claiming her biological parents live there, however at the age of 16, Leah lost her baby girl, or did she?
The majority of this story is told from Leah's POV.
A few twists and turns throughout, some which surprised me.
Overall, I'd say the narrator - Annette Chown - kept me going, especially towards the end.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Every Family has its secrets, some are more deadly than others. Well describes characters & good plot with a twist. Excellent narration.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job distinguishing between voices. The storyline itself didn’t hold my attention as much as I would have liked. I enjoyed the story ok but it wasn’t a shocking thriller for me. I’m sure this will be a favorite for some but it just wasn’t the book for me.
ON A QUIET STREET is an entertaining slow-burn domestic thriller. I felt bad for Leah, she not only had a cheating husband but also a terrible mother. When Charlotte showed up at her door claiming to be her daughter, I thought the story just got more complex. There are a few twists along the way and some surprised me. Overall, I found this to be a good story and audiobook.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+⭐
On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach, an audiobook narrated by Annette Chown is an unbelievably gripping and totally addictive, page-turning psychological thriller with heart-stopping twists! I just could not stop listening. My mind was constantly racing and questions were coming. Who is who and what is what?
There are so many unexpected turns in this book that more than once I was left with a loud gasp. When finally all the puzzle pieces fall in place and your breathing is ready to go back to normal, the last twist swipes you down! I didn't expect that at all! So all and all this book surprised me so many times! There are so many layers, and so many twists that will make you guess all the way through!
Leah's life is complicated as it is. Her cheating husband trying to convince her that he is loyal to her but Leah just knows this is not true. Leah's mother died and she must sort out her property to put up for sale but returning to the house is a challenge for Leah as bad secrets are buried all around and messing with her head. And as if this is not enough a young lady appears on her doorstep and claims to be her daughter...
Soon Leah learns that some secrets must stay hidden but she is not the only one who looking for answers!
Annette Chown did amazing narration and once I was sucked into the story her voice just took over, it was like listening to my own thoughts!
This is the twisties thriller that I finished in a long time!

If you loved The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage and Gone Girl you will be absolutely gripped by this heart-stopping psychological thriller. (I think this is where it went wrong, I loved all three of these books so I had super high hopes for this one- and just ultimately feel like it doesn't belong in the same ranks as these three thrillers.)
Okay so this book started out really good for me. I was super interested to know if Cain (Leah's (MC) husband) cheated or not... oh and again...
Then 18-year old Charlotte shows up saying, "I was adopted as a baby and I’m looking for my biological parents. I was told they live here.’
Most of the story is told through Leah's POV until about half way through. For me, where it really lost me was the end. I just simply didn't like it... like at all. I can't pin point what exactly I didn't like it (I know super unhelpful) but it didn't feel satisfying though it does make me think there could be a sequel. I think I needed an epilogue or something?
This was my first book by this author so perhaps this one just wasn't for me. That said, the narrator of this audiobook did an excellent job so at least that wasn't the issue.
I haven’t read anything from this author so I didn’t know what to expect. I started this book and absolutely couldn’t put it down. I loved the writing style and just how fast paced it was. I don’t think there was any filler in this book. It was go go go from the get go. The ending wasn’t my favorite but i still will pick up more from this author!
4.5 rounded up. This is a fun , easy read - a perfect book for when you just want to be entertained!
Premise - Leah, a British housewife, suspects her husband, Cain, is cheating on her… again. This time she’s going to catch him, and leave him once and for all. Her attempt to expose her husband’s affair end up turning up much more complicated secrets…
The story is told largely in Leah’s voice, then at around halfway in an additional perspective comes in. The perspective switches work well to add to the intrigue!
It’s fun to puzzle along with Leah, then with the second perspective, and try to figure out the puzzle. When you think you have it all sorted, you realize there’s still a good bit of book left - which means more twists. Yay!
