I am always hooked by Jennifer Bohnet’s novels, and have now reviewed a lot of them.
I really felt for Vivienne and was so angry at her husband for the entire length of the book. The way the bombshell was dropped was well woven into the story. It was still shocking the way it happened though.
I liked Maxine and Olivia, and felt like I knew the characters really well over the course of the story. Vivienne and Maxine have sadder circumstances but Olivia is looking for love…will she find it? Will the women find happiness in the end?
Jennifer Bohnet is a go-to author for me when I want a heartfelt, emotional atmospheric book set in France. I loved going on this journey with the characters.
Thanks to Jennifer Bohnet, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
5 stars

I was really taken in and rooting for the characters in the book. Especially Vivienne as we are given a big reason to root for her super early on. At times it was a little hard to follow because the story jumped around a lot but there was a lot to tell and overall I liked how the story was told. I appreciate books that don't put in extra drama just to give drama.

"A French Adventure" is another lovely summer read from Jennifer Bohnet, this time set mainly in Antibes and the surrounding area. It is a book about family and friendship, with a touch of romance. The main characters are mostly women, including the 3 leads - Vivienne, Maxine and Olivia. Vivienne's husband Jeremy is a real rotter, but most of the other men are friendly and supportive, especially Maxine's stepson Thierry. This is a lovely atmospheric story which addresses a number of family issues (including divorce and adoption) and looks at how people cope with them in different ways.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

I enjoyed this book. The main female characters were likeable. loved the setting. The pace was just right. I especially liked the way Bohnet gives you an update on every character at the end of the book. Just one thing, I didn't feel much in the way of angst/emotion from the characters. There was a small amount and then it was as though every problem got ironed out. It just felt a bit too convenient, even a bit twee, especially with the author character. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another fabulous read from this author. The cover was so cute and to be set in France was perfection! Loved the women main characters - a fun delight. A great romance read.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was an addictive read and I just had to finish it in one sitting . The story flowed along and painted pictures of warm, sunny, relaxing days in France. Loved this one. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Jennifer writes gorgeous romantic novels that are unputdownable and this certainly falls into this cateogry. Keep on writing these books about woman who don't even know how strong they are.

hooked and hooked some more. Loved all of this and couldn't put it down. I was like oh my. I need to know more. Read it.

“It’s not always good to know the truth. Sometimes the past should be left in peace.”
Agree? Disagree?
Come see how three women in Antibes on the French Riviera each react to this statement.
I can always count on Jennifer Bohnet to pen a heartfelt story, spanning the generations and centering around women at crossroads in their lives. This one is no different!
Bohnet’s latest story features three women, at three different stages in life, who each face life-changing moments. Bohnet shows how painful endings can lead to new beginnings and the realization that the ‘new normal’ has exciting potential. Vivienne Wilson, Maxine Zonszian and Olivia Murray are no strangers to heartbreak and brokenness, but they learn to draw on the strength of community and navigate the difficult seasons of their lives to arrive at new beginnings. They pave a new future for themselves on their own terms.
Next time I’m in Antibes or Monaco, I’ll watch out for the pink London taxi, Daisy!
The characters ranged from charming (especially Leonie) to despicable (especially Jeremy), the setting was enchanting and vividly described, and the mystery of how the women were going to carve out their future was compelling.
Coping with unexpected challenges is something we all face. How we react to the challenge before us determines the outcome. We could learn something from these three women; sharing the truth to what brought them together was the glue that held them and fostered growth.
I was gifted this copy by Boldwood Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
