Wow! What a ride! This book was nerve wrecking, raw, dramatic, emotional, and deliciously disturbing. The story was unpredictable with sinister vibes and a very satisfying ending. I could not stop reading! Having 3 POVs made this even more interesting because I was able to follow the story from three different perspectives.⁣

At this point I have read almost all books written by Gemma Rogers and enjoyed them all, but this book along with The Stalker was my favorite so far. ⁣

Thank you NetGalley and The Boldwood Books for this ARC that was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Chloe is married to Tom, who is very controlling. She’s not allowed to work, he tells her what to wear everyday, gives her daily lists of chores, even controlling her food intake to 10 mouthfuls! She’s desperate to get away from him but can never find a way out. Then beautiful red head, Savannah, comes along. Could she be the answer to getting away from her controlling husband?
This book was insane! I was completely invested in this story, it was fast paced right til the explosive finale. A gripping page turning 5 star thriller. Thank you Gemma Rogers and NetGalley for allowing me an ARC of this fantastic thriller.

Absolutely brilliant read. Very hard to put down and well paced. Will be looking to read more of this author books in the future.

This is a thriller through and through. And while I read this quickly, and my stomach was in knots for much of the read, this has a spice level a bit too high for me. There are certainly more explicit books out there, but this is most definitely not closed door, and as such, not for me.

However, if you don’t mind spice, this is well-written, and Ms. Rogers really knows how to write suspense. My stomach hurts! My heart went out to Chloe, and I actively rooted for her from the first few pages. As soon as I read about the “rule of ten”, I knew exactly what kind of man Tom was.

Fair warning: there’s a lot of despicable behavior in here. There’s abuse, SA, and domestic violence galore.

If you see signs of abuse, please speak up!! I know there are women and men out there who are trapped in abusive relationships. Let’s help each other. Abusers isolate their victims. Make sure that your loved one knows that she/he can always count on you to be there for them, no matter what. You may just be their lifeline to get out.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books (thank you!), and all opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of The Good Wife by Gemma Rogers, published by Boldwood Books
Another book by Gemma Rogers that I couldn't put down, it got better with every turn of the page! I sure didn't see that ending coming, it was great.
The novel is told by three main characters, Chloe and her husband Tom, and Savannah.
Chloe and Tom have been married 3 years, Tom has just received a promotion at work and is now expected to attend quarterly dinners. During the first part of the novel, we became aware that Tom rules the roost and Chloe, she has slowly lost touch with friends, family and does not even have a job anymore. Her job is to keep house and please her husband.

I was hooked from page one, and it didn't take long for this story to gain momentum, I couldn't wait to see how it ended. This is probably one of my favorite of Gemma's books, but they are all great. All her books are stand alone and can be read in any order. I'm waiting for the next....📚😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Good Wife - Gemma Rogers

Creepily claustrophobic, domineering and powerful - this is an absolutely belter of a read from Gemma.

Having loved all of her previous novels - this surely has to be the best yet!

Unnerving control made for uncomfortable reading at times - but the tension that had built up and the diabolical behaviour of the main protagonist just helped the pages turn even quicker.

I was close to this being a one-sitting read - and hopefully there’s not too long a wait until the next book lands from this great author!

This was so much fun! I read this in less than a day. Weirdly I enjoy reading about controlling relationships and how women think and their mindset when they're in them, it's fascinating to me. I also love reading about their strategies to leave and the lengths they need to go to for it. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story, trying to figure out what will happen next. The characters were well developed, I hated Tom and loved Chloe's character arc, although she was slightly naive at times. Really enjoyed this one!

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC.

Hold on to your mascara wands, because Gemma Rogers is back with "The Good Wife," and she's serving up a thriller that's part suspense, part dark comedy, and all kinds of fabulous chaos.

Picture this: a whirlwind romance turns into a three-year marriage, but forget about the honeymoon – our leading lady is trapped in a life that makes Cinderella's chores look like a vacation. Tom, the controlling maestro, not only picks out her clothes but also manages to dictate her entire menu down to ten microscopic bites. Seriously, even diets have cheat days, but not in Tom's world.

Our poor protagonist is living a life that's more suffocating than a clingy ex, and escape seems like a distant dream. But fear not! In walks Savannah, the unexpected heroine, turning heads and raising eyebrows, especially Tom's. Who would've thought another woman could be the key to breaking free from the shackles of a marriage more confining than skinny jeans after Thanksgiving dinner?

Gemma Rogers doesn't just weave a tale of suspense; she throws in a dash of humor that's sharper than a stiletto heel. As the plot unfolds, you'll find yourself cheering for the protagonist, rolling your eyes at Tom's absurdity, and rooting for Savannah like she's the underdog in a glitzy boxing match.

"The Good Wife" isn't your typical thriller; it's a rollercoaster of emotions, suspense, and a healthy dose of sass. If Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena, and Lisa Jewell had a literary love child, it might just be this book. So, grab your favorite snack, maybe a glass of wine, and get ready for a wild ride with Gemma Rogers. You'll be laughing, gasping, and eagerly flipping those pages until the very end. Cheers to chaos, glamour, and the power of unexpected allies!

I'm not sure why this is my first book by Gemma Rogers but it will most certainly not be my last. An absolutely brilliant dark, domestic noir, that really does stand out from the rest in this busy genre. Highly recommended xx

Wow! This is a huge gamut of a novel!! Chloe is being controlled by Tom, many times I wanted to yell at her to get out. But this novel is so mutilayered and cleverly exposes the complexities of controlling relationships. It’s so so well written, you must read it!

I usually want to scream at doormat/submissive wives but this book, I wanted to cheer on the main character and rooted for her all throughout ! It was a really enjoyable read for me. I specially LOVED the 1st POV and how it all ended for all characters !

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Chloe is married to Tom. Tom however is controlling about everything, absolutely everything. He has distanced Chloe from family and friends, puts the clothes out she has to wear each day and even dictates how many mouthfuls of food she is allowed to eat and watches her every move. At a company dinner Tom wins the raffle and from a chance interaction Chloe knows what is happening and sees her chance to be free. Savannah is a high class hooker and could give Chloe what she desires most- freedom.

Oh wow! What a belter of a read. I read 50% in one sitting and would have been more if real life hadn't got in the way. This really is one of those read-right-the-way-through-in-one-sitting type of reads. It's cleverly written to captivate the reader and all sympathy goes to Chloe and anyone in real life who has perhaps been at the control of others. It's sometimes hard to explain the stress of coercive control but this goes a long way towards it. There is a brilliant tension as to how Chloe is going to extricate herself with no contacts and a phone monitored by Tom. It's very clever and it's twisty with an ending the reader has to spot- brilliant! A highly recommended read- but warning -you just might want to read it all at once!

I have really enjoyed every book I have previously read by Gemma Rogers and this one was no different. As we explore the relationship between Chloe and Tom we see the truth hidden below the surface and watch it unravel.

Never underestimate your wife! Chloe’s husband is controlling. She wants out. She enlists an escort to help her get free. As her husband gets more violent, Chloe and Savannah team up. Will Chloe escape? Good ending. Goes to show you bullies eventually get what they deserve.

Chloe and Tom have been married for three years. She wants out. He’s violent. He’s rude. He’s controlling. At a work party, Chloe meets Savannah, a paid escort. Chloe comes up with an idea where Savannah can help her get free. Some huge twists in this book. Great ending!

Chloe's been hitched to Tom for three years, and let me tell you, she's having major regrets because the guy's a total control freak. Tom's working for this shady company, and at some fancy work shindig, they run into the mysterious Savannah. Chloe spots her ticket out of the marriage, and let's just say things get wild from there.

Now, here's the deal—the story unfolds through the eyes of these three characters. It's a speedy ride with loads of twists, even if some parts are a bit out there. Overall, it's a solid, gripping, and downright entertaining read.

Oh, and the ending? Brace yourself. I did not see that coming. I thought I had it all figured out, but nope, I was dead wrong. I won't spill the beans, but it made me audibly gasp. Seriously, if you're into thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat till the very last page, this one's a must-read!

Chloe has been married to Tom for three years and now regrets it as he is so controlling.
Tom works for a dodgy company and, at a lavish work event, he and Chloe meet the enigmatic Savannah and Chloe sees her means of escape from the marriage, with unpredictable results.
The story is told by these three characters. It's fast paced with lots of twists, if improbable in places. A good beach read.

Best book I’ve read in ages! Oh, my! The dynamic between Savannah, Tom, and Chloe is full of ups, downs, and turn-arounds! This is a true page turner; I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. Psychological thriller readers are in for a real treat with this one. Gemma Rogers has somehow managed to up her already skyrocketed game!

5 stars are nowhere near enough!! This is the most addictive book I have read in...well ever!! Fantastic work Gemma Rogers!

The story is about a young wife, Chloe, who has the misfortune to be married to an utterly vile, despicable and narcissistic character, Tom (he makes a great character, but you would not want to meet this guy let alone be his spouse!). To say he is controlling is a vast understatement. Chloe wants out of this marriage. Tom tells Chloe the only way she is getting out is in a box (ouch!!). Another central character is alluring escort, Savannah. The plot focuses around these 3 central characters, with the story being told through these 3 perspectives.

This book reads SO well, my only criticism is that eventually it does end and then, dear reader, you are left with a book shaped void that (sigh) is near impossible to fill. I pity the next book I review as the bar for fiction in 2024 has been set seriously high!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
