This was absolutely wonderful.
You should smile more is one of my favorite books, and when I saw this one, I knew I had to read it too.
Our heroine is amazing. It's just amazing. Her resilience and the way she faces life are inspiring.
This book was funny and emotional (I love our heroine's relationship with her dad), and although it's technically not romance, I adored the romantic elements here. I was swooning so hard!!!!
Friendships are one of my favorite things from Anastasia's books, and the one here was amazing 👏
The narrator really brought the characters to life and made a lot of the scenes even more fun.
Overall, this was so much fun, and I can't wait for everyone to read this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was not what I expected in the best way possible. I love how it was able to dive into the woman’s world in corporate America. Loved this book and would definitely read more by this author after finishing this. Thank you NetGalley and Anastasia Ryan for an advanced copy of this book!

This audio was hilarious, Indiana and her coworkers are sooo funny, I adored this book. WOMEN in Tech!!! Sign me up. I loved the topic of women being undervalued in the work place, and how because of that how women have to do certain things to be taken more seriously. Indiana is such a bad ass, comes out of her shell stands her ground, she is awesome. I loved the romance between her and Shane, and all of the other characters and their happy endings, it was an all around sweet read, especially in AUDIO.

I LOVED this book! Thank you so much to @netgalley and Dreamscape for the chance to review Anastasia Ryan’s Not Bad for a Girl. Indiana (Ana) is an awesome coder, but she’s stuck in a man’s world. She stands up to her boss and gets a new, remote position in the company that isn’t doing well. She is acclimating to her new position, but her new boss thinks that Indiana is a man and has given him so much credit. Shane, her coworker via zoom with the awesome voice, figures it out though. Will he tell?
Such misogyny.!! Ana was a wonderful MC, who was so cute and funny. The banter between the IT cast of characters was awesome! I was cheering for her the entire time! Jesse Vilinsky did a wonderful job narrating!

This book is for all of the girlies who work their butts off just to be passed over for promotions that are given to less experienced men. For the girls who work twice as hard, but are paid considerably less. For the girls who are doubted solely based on their gender.
Indiana "Ana" is the ultimate tech girl boss who isn't afraid to speak her mind, but because she is a woman, it's seen as being "winy" or "loud", but when she's accidentally mistaken for a man, suddenly her behavior is seen as "assertive" and "smart".
The best way I can describe this book is a LOT more contemporary and quirky version of "Lessons in Chemistry" (but in tech, not science).
There is a cute romantic story in this as well, but the bigger story was most definitely about women in the workforce.

This story was absolutely delightful! It wasn’t perfect and there was definitely moments that you had to suspend your disbelief for some of the shenanigans (similar to movies like Hangover) but man was it a fun ride! Between all the tomfoolery and laugh out loud moments there is actually a strong message about women in the workplace and how difficult it can be for us. The main character is a female working in Tech and how her being female creates hurdle that her male counterparts do not have to face. I think the author did a great job of showing the discrepancy between genders in the workplace while also keeping a humorous tone throughout. 10/10 will be checking out other books by this author and encourage other to as well.
I just reviewed Not Bad for a Girl by Anastasia Ryan. #NotBadforaGirl #NetGalley

Indiana Aaron is an excellent coder and IT specialist, but she is never taken seriously because of her size, gender and lack of filter when she sees something that is wrong. When she calls her boss out one too many times she is transferred to another team and she thinks it might just be her last chance to try and fit in. With her new position she works from home and lives on video calls. When she is mistaken for a guy by her boss and teammates, Indians doesn’t correct them and suddenly she sees what it’s like to be in the boys club. The longer Ana keeps up the charade, the more larger than life the fake Indiana becomes and Ana is in over her head. With the help of her crazy work friends and Shane, the handsome guy on her new team who sees thought the charade, Ana may just be able to turn this craziness into something good.
Not Bad for a Girl is a great story that had me laughing out loud at times. The characters in this book were so fun and relatable and so easy to love. The storyline was very well handled and addressed the problem of women being treated differently than men, especially in the work place, but in a funny way that didn’t make the topic too weighty. I absolutely loved Ana and her lack of filter and quick mind. She was the perfect lead to pull off this story. There is a very slow burn romance with no spice, but the perfect amount of wit and humor between Ana and Shane. With great and witty banter, fun characters and a hilarious story, this is the perfect book for fans of women’s fiction with a hint of romantic comedy!

The narrator absolutely brought life to Indiana “Ana” and I loved it. I listened comfortably at 2.0 speed.

Thank you Netgalley, dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review. This is my second book by the author and not sure her books are for me. I do not like miscommunication in my books as everything could be cleared if everyone said the truth from the beginning.
3.5/5 rounded down

I LOVED this one!! I read her previous book and was excited for this one, it did not disappoint! It is my exact type of humor with so many characters that are amazing people embracing their weirdness and they just feel so genuine. Of course it has exaggerated scenarios that could never be real life but for me, that just added to the fun. I would love for this to be a series or at the very least have a sequel, I already miss these characters! I need more!!! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator could not be more perfect. She has impeccable timing, tone and truly becomes the characters. I cannot recommend this one more for someone wanting laughs with a little heartwarming story thrown in!

For the first half of this book I was so tempted to DNF. It was so unbelievably ridiculous but I ended up sticking with it to the end. I hated the farcical situations of Indiana and her "accomplishments". I do like the message of the book but still in the end felt it was a bit too on the nose for my liking. There were definitely parts of the book I did enjoy (the pottery, the fish, and Ana's dad) and I am happy with the ending. Overall this book was just ok for me. I do definitely see why people will enjoy it but it wasn't my cup of tea. The writing was done well and the audiobook narration was good.
Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Anastasia Ryan for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This was fun chick lit, which I very much enjoy! It’s well-paced and keeps you laughing (Indiana is an amusing main character), even when the caricatured patriarchy doesn’t ring true.
Premise - Indiana is a tactless tech employee whose big mouth is about to get her fired, but when she’s transferred to remote work and mistaken for a man, her career is suddenly flourishing in ways it never did before.
The way sexism is portrayed in the boom may have been real in the 90s, but absolutely not in the 2024 version of white collar work. It would have been far more interesting if the sexism was realistic, in the way of modern microagressions in racism rather than Jim Crow era ‘you can’t sit here.’ It would have been more interesting if she was a mom doing great work but being passed over for preemptions because she’s on the remote work ‘mom track.’ Realism over cartoon villains!
That said, this was a fun story and it’s light chick lit, so I wasn’t really expecting a thoughtful critique of workplace dynamics. I had a good time reading this and would read more from the author!

This pleasantly surprised me, especially when the beginning starts out like so many other books with its accurate portrayal of how some women are treated in the workplace. This is my second Anastasia Ryan novel and I loved it as much as the first. It’s funny but also sheds light on a common problem in male-dominated industries. The story is well-paced and kept my interest the whole time, not falling victim to common romance tropes; in fact, the romance is a small part but is equally fun. I loved everything about this!

This was a hilarious romcom by a new to me author that features Indiana "Ana," an talented coder who works for a company that doesn't appreciate her skills at all and when she speaks up in a meeting ends up getting transferred to a whole other division across the country.
Being able to work from home means she can remain anonymous and when her new boss accidentally assumes she's a man, Ana doesn't correct him. This leads to lots of mistaken identity hijinks, laugh out loud tall tales and Ana discovering its much easier to hack it in the tech world when people think you're a man.
Highly recommended if you enjoy stories about bad-ass women in STEM confronting male privilege and misogyny in the workplace or authors like Denise Williams and Ali Hazelwood. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!!
Steam level: kissing only

I loved Anastasia Ryan's Not Bad For A Girl! It was creative and different than anything I've read before. I loved the witty writing and relatable story line, both were exceptional. I could imagine something like this actually happening. The author was able to bring comedic relief to the all too real issue of misogyny in the workplace, while still acknowledging the seriousness of it. I was feeling all the emotions for main character Indiana, who I adored. Her friends are great as well and definitely added to the entertainment value. I was literally laughing out loud throughout. The romance subplot was great too! I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration by Jesse Vilinsky was fantastic! I definitely recommend if you enjoy workplace humor and awesome FMCs. Thank you Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and the author for this ALC!
