Thank you NetGalley and publisher for giving me a copy of this book. All comments are my own.

The last couple books I’ve read by this author were okay but I decided to give another book a try.

I devoured this book so fast and I was loving it. I thought the plot was good and the characters were well written. This book was a 5 star until literally the last chapter. I think the ending just ruined this book.

It literally made no sense what so ever for it to end the way it did. I was disappointed honestly and I had high hopes for this one because of how the rest of it was.

I’m giving 3 stars because as I said most of this book was great. I just think the ending was random and didn’t even go with the book. I get wanting to have twist but it needs to have a twist that makes sense and this one did not.

I really enjoyed this book! It was thrilling, enticing, and kept me wanting more. The twists and turns were really good! I could see a couple of things coming but a couple I for sure did not! It reminds me a little bit of One of Us is Lying just in a couple of aspects.

Thank you @netgalley and Natasha for allowing me to read this eARC! Grab yours on May 7th 🖤

I really wanted to LOVE this book, because it sounded like a fun read. So, I dove right in and I wound up skim reading it and wishing I had just DNFed it. I found the story to be flat and the characters to be very unlikeable. This whole idea of 'dares' being forced upon the graduating senior class was ridiculous. How can one student make you do anything? And why would he care if you joined in on the 'dares'? It was just too over the top. Especially since the consequences of not performing the 'dares' could result in you being forced out of town or expelled from your future college. How insane is that?! Anyhow, I read and figured some things out pretty quickly, but mainly I just skim read. I didn't like the characters enough to care what happened to them all. And, when all was revealed I was not shocked, nor did I think the twists were that great. Overall, it was a rather ho hum read. And, that is all I will write about this book. I will share that it does have great reviews, so you could very well love it. Definitely give it a go, if you are in the mood for a YA suspense-mystery read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my review! 😊

3.5 stars

I’ve read multiple Natasha Preston books and will always say that if you are looking for a quick, fast-paced read to binge her books are certainly for you!

This book was a mysterious take on senior pranks gone wrong and had a twisted ending! If you are looking for a good YA thriller/mystery novel this is perfect!

While it wasn’t my favorite of hers, I enjoyed the quickness of it and how easy it was to digest and understand.

Thank you NetGalley! I loved The Dare. This is my favorite Natasha Preston book that I’ve read so far. It sucks you in right from the beginning and keeps you enthralled the entire time

The Dare is typical YA suspense, but I wouldn't put it up there with Truly Devious, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, I Killed Zoe Spanos, etc. I definitely got vibes from a 90's cult classic (ahem), and there was just too much happening. The main character was a little thrown away; she just didn't have anything that kept me rooting for her. It was repetitive and lacking a ton of substance. Entertaining? Yes. Well written and developed? No.

The plot twist at the end had me shocked! I did not see that coming at all.

This book is very well written and keeps you engaged! I thought I had the story figured out, and, well I didn’t.

Thank you for the ARC!

I love Natasha Preston’s books but unfortunately this one didn’t hit the mark for me. I enjoyed the characters but it seemed a lot like “I know what you did last summer” I did however enjoy the twist at the end-I didn’t see that comming.-over all good job.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc.

Thank you to Random House, Net Galley, and Natasha Preston for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It’s senior year and the senior pranks are in full swing, Marley along with her boyfriend, Atlas, best friend, Luce and her boyfriend, Jesse are thrown into the dares. The dares/pranks are issued by Rhett, a rich senior whose brothers have been running the dares for years. If you turn down one of Rhett’s dares, he exposes a secret about you. Marley, Atlas, Jesse, and Luce are dared to drive down a dangerous stretch of road with no headlights on. Something awful happens that night. Can the four of them keep the secret? Who can you really trust?

This one kept me guessing until the end. I think it is a good YA book and others will enjoy it.

This book was so good! It was super intense, and I could not put it down! I loved how there were so many little plot twists, until everything was finally figured out at the end! I really loved the ending, too, it was such a surprise and a great way to tie up all the little loose ends while still being super interesting!

Natasha Preston never disappoints!!!! I have yet to find a book of hers that does not grip me from the very first sentence. When you open this book, you will see what I am talking about. Her characters are well developed the plot as well written in the storyline as well executed. The twist are not predictable. I definitely recommend picking this book up but do not do it late at night because you won’t get any sleep. You will be up all night to finish it. :)

This was probably one of my favorite Natasha Preston books I’ve ever read and for reference I’ve read basically all of them except for a few 😊.

This book had me hooked from page 1! There were twists and turns along the way that had me guessing which kept me interested throughout the entire book.

The BIG twist I would have never guessed EVER.

Thank you, NetGalley for letting me read and review this early access book. It was FANTASTIC 🙌🏻😍. Everything I love in a thriller and MORE!

I used to really enjoy a bad Natasha Preston book. I could spend any disbelief and read them with a lot of enjoyment, but I think even this is too much. It was all over the place even though I think it only took place over two weeks? The dares never were clarified. Why did the MC and her friends get put up to do the more dangerous stuff ? Was it just because Rhett was a jerk? Do teenagers really not know what oxy is? I knew what Oxy was by that age. Apple AirTags alert people that they’re being followed by an unknown device , including if you have an android, so I’m not sure how the Mc Did that with no one knowing? Why did it matter that dna was in this guy’s truck if they were all friends? Why wouldn’t it be there. What would have mattered is if Arthur had DNA THERE. Is Rhett going to jail and now everyone else is free? Homegirl is just going to go be with George?? None of this makes sense.

Thank you for this ARC!

The description had me intrigued but I struggled to get into it once I started. When I reached about 60%, it got better but still felt a bit redundant. The writing style made it a little difficult to read. The tasks being dared were quite unrealistic.

The premise is interesting but the execution could’ve been better.

3.5 ⭐️

The Dare by Natasha Preston really did have me in a constant state of anxiety the entire time I was reading. This book was so fast paced and I could barely put it down.

Our main character Marley and her friends are given a dare that will change their lives forever. I’ve never read about someone in a position like Marley’s before and it was definitely an interesting perspective. This is a story about trust, betrayal, guilt, and secrets. Marley’s journey to overcome the trials she faces definitely kept me on edge until the very end. I will say though that it was a little hard for me to root for a main character who did such a bad thing. Overall I did mostly enjoy the story and Natasha Preston’s writing.

Senior year and graduation is approaching. Seniors are filling their days with fun activities such as prom, graduation practice and most importantly senior traditions such as pranks in the school and sometimes an unsuspecting principal's office! One senior tradition that started with a Wilder brother is the game 'Truth or Dare', where seniors must participate in or face a Wilder consequence! When Marley and her friends are given a dare, their life will never be the same after that. And senior year cannot end fast enough.

As I felt myself going into a reading slump, I was approved to read an advance copy of one of my favorite authors - Natasha Preston, "The Dare" and POOF my reading slump was over. I was enjoying the main character and her POV, although some of the stuff she did made me want to scream, like THAT ENDING! Natasha's endings almost always makes me scream but this one, I did not suspect at all.

Thank you to Random House Childrens for allowing me to read the ARC! Now i cant wait for Natasha's next book - THE PARTY!
