I love Lena Diaz ability to write quick fast reads that pull readers into her stories. The cold case is dark and gruesome and thankful the author is able to lighten the mood using the two main characters and their romance.
The story will keep readers hooked not allowing the readers to put down the story in case something might happened to their characters.
I highly recommend this book and while it is part of a series it is a standalone novel you can pick up and start with zero background.

Thank you to Netgalley for Smoky Mountains Graveyard

I’m a sucker for romantic suspense. And even though they don’t normally give me nightmares this one did. And I think it’s the whole aspect of a serial killer in the Smoky Mountains. All I can say is this one was good but you might just want to sleep with the light on.

Excellent book that sucked me in from the first page and kept me hooked to the end. Faith and Asher are partners at Unfinished Business, which investigates cold cases. They have been partners for two years and best friends for most of that time.

The pair have been working to find the body and killer of a young woman who disappeared five years earlier. As the book opens, they believe that they have discovered where the killer buried her. They didn't expect to find six bodies in that location and are suddenly looking at a serial killer situation. Matters become complicated when the state investigators take over and kick them off the case. Faith and Asher, with the encouragement of their boss, continue investigating on their own, determined to stop the killer before he strikes again.

The suspense of this story was intense. When their victim's sister is also taken, Asher and Faith suspect the same person. I was on the edge of my seat as they threw themselves into finding the girl before it was too late. I was intrigued by their methods of identifying the killer. The twists and turns of their investigation kept me reading long past my bedtime. The final confrontation had an unexpected and terrifying complication that kept me glued to the pages until it was over.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Faith and Asher. It is evident from the start that Asher is in love with Faith. He wants more, but Faith is determined to keep him in the friend zone. Faith ignores the signs as she doesn't want to risk losing his friendship if something goes wrong. But when Asher is injured during their investigation, she realizes the depth of her feelings for him. There were some great scenes as they worked their way through them while maintaining their working relationship. I loved the ending, especially the reactions of their coworkers.

This is the 5th book in the cold case series but I did not have any problem reading this one having not read the others. This was a great romantic suspense that I enjoyed. Ex police officers work for a company that specializes in cold cases. These partners stumble upon a graveyard of a serial killer while looking for a missing person. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Tennessee Cold Case series. I have read the three of the other books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. This book pulled me into the story, and I had to finish this book in one sitting because I was so into this book. I loved the characters in this book. There is so much suspense and action in this book with a little romance. I felt the romance was pushed into the book, and I felt the story did not really need it. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Intrigue) or author (Lena Diaz) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Smoky Mountains Graveyard (Tennessee Cold Case #5) by Lena Diaz
This was the first book I've read by Lena Diaz - it won't be the last. Faith Lancaster and Asher Whitfield are cold case investigators with the firm Unfinished Business. They are partners and best friends (he wants more). They have wonderful coworkers and family. I started the book and hated to put it down. There is angst, murder, mystery, kidnapping, serial killer, terror, some romance, laughter and tears, edge of your seat read, kept me guessing right until the end and the HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Informative Great world building Page-turner Happily Ever After Scary Entertaining Easy-to-read Witty Action-packed Twisted Unpredictable Romantic Wonderful characters Tragic.

A fast paced read, with a good mystery and a lot of action. Faith and Asher have been partners at Unfinsihed Business for years, but neither one wants to take their friendship to the next level, or do they? As they continue to work their latest case together, they discover they have deeper feelings for one another, but only one of them is brave enough to put a name to it. As they race against the clock to stop a serial killer, the case hits closer to home, will they be able to keep their growing attraction in check? Thank you Harlequin and Netgalley for the advanced copy.

Smoky Mountains Graveyard was another fantastic intrigue from Lena Diaz. From the first page I couldn’t put it down. Asher and Faith are the perfect friends to lovers couple. As friends and partners for years, they were tasked by Unfinished Business, their employer, to find a serial killer loose in their own backyard. When they find his graveyard, and the woman they were looking for, all heck breaks loose.

Asher, while rescuing, another victim, is injured, leaving Faith to question all of her feelings for the man she’s counted on as a friend and partner for the last two years. Despite Asher's injury, they still have to find this killer before he strikes again, so with the help of Unfinished Business and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, they cast a wide net. What they weren’t expecting is to get caught in it.

If you aren’t reading the Tennessee Cold Case series, by Lena Diaz, you’re doing yourself a disservice. This series is a fantastic look at cold cases, criminals who are smart and investigators who are relentless. Smoky Mountains Graveyard is a brilliant addition to the series, and I can’t wait for the next!

So glad to have discovered this new-to-me author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
