I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but boy did it surprise me.
Fabulous gangland book that will mess with your mind. It gripped my right at the start and held onto me until the very end.
Addictive action right the way through excellent writing and story. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This book was ok….not really believable…the vengefulness of the creepy brother was overdone and played like he planned a lot of things when it really did not read that way. Don’t like the idea that there might be a sequel.

So apparently this is book two in a series, I didn't know and started here, I will be going back and buying the first book now though. That said you can absolutely read as a standalone, that's what I done and we have brief throwbacks to Janey when she was younger so I don't feel we missed out starting here.

Janey is top of her game in the criminal world and the book flips between Orla, Sinead and Millie Rose, Janey's estranged family. Orla and Sinead are twins, given up at birth and now grown women, Sinead is addicted to substances and does what she needs to on the streets to fund her habit. Orla couldn't be more different, mum to teenager Molly Rose, owner of legitimate businesses. Janey has reached out to Orla who shuns her however when Janey's past impacts on them and putting them in danger Orla has no choice but to let Janey in, they will all do what it takes to protect Molly Rose but is it too late?

Not for the faint hearted, it covers topics of abuse, addiction, prostitution, abandonment, SA, trafficking (is touched upon), family, drugs, secrets and more. Set in Glasgow, we see just how far ripples have from the past/decisions to present and consequences of those. Family is at the heart of this one but with the long reach/affects of skulduggery and shady dealings that go on from living "the life" even if you aren't a direct part of it, 4/5 from me and I will be getting book one and looking forward to the next!

Although Janey has been estranged from her daughters since birth, someone who wants revenge on her and knows about their existence wants to use one of them against her.
This book had you on the edge of your seat. A definite must read

Two Sisters by Alex Kane was a twisty Glasgow thriller and it was a great page turner. I found it very hard to put it down from the very first page till the last. This latest book by Alex was fast paced, suspenseful, and very addictive. I loved it.

Two sisters Sinead and Orla had a very hard upbringing in after their mum Janey had to put them in foster care. But, she has never forgotten her twin girls who she was forced to give up for adoption. Sinead and Orla are now thirty eight years old and are still taking different paths in life.

Will they ever meet their mother and if they do how will they react if they do?

WoW this book was brilliant

I loved it and highly recommend this book. A great holiday read.

Big Thank you to Netgalley and to Canelo for my ARC.

Great Scottish mystery/crime read. Janey is super protective of her family, even if they don’t know it. What happens when someone goes off the rails and Janey is needed to take care of it…blood, death and secrets spilling, that’s what is needed here.

This book was fab, it was fast paced and very easy to read. I couldn’t put it down- it was full of drama and tension.

Sinead and Orla were twins celebrating their 38th birthday. Their lives couldn’t be anymore different - Orla was married with a daughter Molly Rose and ran a very successful business. Sinead was a heroin addict who lived on the streets and turned to prostitution to fund her heroin addiction. They had been given up by their birth mother Janey when they were born and didn’t have any contact with her.

Molly Rose didn’t like Orla interfering in her life and walked out of the family home. She was protected on the streets of Glasgow by a homeless girl called Kassy. They became friends and Molly Rose didn’t return home. Things went badly wrong for the girls one night and events spiralled out of control.

It became apparent that this was all linked to Janey, mother of Orla and Sinead. She came back into their lives and they had to accept it as they desperately needed Janey’s help.

I would definitely recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I have read all of Alex's books and this is another corker!

This follows the lives of twins Orla and Sinead and estranged mother Janey.

Orla's daughter Molly Rose is in serious danger and only Janet can help!

This had me hooked from the first page, a gritty gangland thriller which is right up my street.

I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend you pick this one up.

Wow! What a great read! Two Sisters is definitely one of those books that once you started, you just have to finish, you can't put it down.
It's really well-written. I loved the plot. It's well paced, gripping, intense. There's so much happening and yet it never gets confusing. Bravo, Ms Kane, that's some great writing here.
And that ending... So well delivered.
What can I say? Two Sisters is a great book and I loved it! Highly recommended.

When the family is threatened and then the daughter is kidnapped, these sisters will find their mother's blood runs true in their veins and someone will pay. A fast read that did not have any slow chapters.

This is a great read.
Janey has never forgotten her twin girls who she was forced to give up for adoption.
Orla is doing well but Sinead’s life is spiralling out of control as she struggles with drug addiction.
Orla’s daughter Molly Rose is fiery and when things don’t go her way, she runs away from home.
One of Janey’s businesses is set on fire and she knows who is responsible and is determined to find him. However he soon makes himself known when he kidnaps someone she loves and demands money for her safe return.
This is a gripping thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Canelo and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Mystery thriller. The plot line was great. I finished it fast. The plot line was great, as I really could not put this book down, a little slow at first, but soon picked up pace. Sinead and Orla both were intriguing characters, with completely opposite lives. Suspense builds up gradually. Twisted lies with some action. A nice pastime thriller. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

I’d like to thank Canelo, Hera and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Two Sisters’ written by Alex Kane in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Twins Sinead and Orla were given up at birth by their mother Janey Hallahan but had very different lives. Thirty-eight years later, Orla has a successful career with a husband and teenage daughter Molly Rose, whereas Sinead struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. Then the sisters meet their long-lost mother Janey and their lives are turned upside down.

‘Two Sisters’ is a gangland thriller based in Glasgow and although it follows on from ‘Janey’, the first book in the series, it can also be read as a standalone without detracting from the story. At times I’ve found it difficult to understand what was being said due to the broad Scottish dialect but despite this the plot is gritty with lots of drama and suspense. The twists kept me turning page after page till I reached the surprising conclusion to this enjoyable gangland story.

Thank you to Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This my first time reading this author and needless to say I was blow away by this story. This book had me engagement straight from the first page and I finished it very quickly. The story moves along at a good pace, exposing secrets of the characters bit by bit. I really loved the characters and seeing them develop and change over the course of the story. There is plenty of inner conflict between a cast of very different characters and the beginning solidifies Orla's motives and immediately lets the reader know how much she cares about her daughter. This is an excellent stand alone but I would love to read other stories from Alex Kane. This is visceral, twisty and packs a punch and I did not see the ending coming, which is something I like to see in books I read. I am itching to read more books like these. Definitely a five star read.

Publication Date - 21st March 2024

They tried to forget their past. Now it’s the only thing that can save them.
Thanks Netgalley, Alex Kane.

Ever since being adopted as babies, twins Sinead and Orla have been the only family they’ve ever known. But as adults, their lives have taken different paths. Orla’s got the big house in Glasgow, the supportive husband and teenage daughter, Molly Rose, while Sinead’s struggle with drugs and alcohol has taken her to some very dark places.

But all of that changes when Sinead receives a call from the woman who gave them up at birth. Their mother, Janey, is back in their lives. But she’s far from what they expected and when the siblings discover their mum is the head of a dangerous gangland firm, their lives are turned upside down.

I didn’t realise that this book, was a follow up to Janey. I clicked once I started it. You could read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading Janey first.
I’m a huge fan of Alex Kane and yet again, absolutely brilliant !! I never tire of her books.
