HOLY SHIT I AM IN LOVE WITH CHARLIE MILFORD!!!!

earlier this year i read lovelight farms which is the first book in this series and i thought it was incredibly average. it really saddened me because so many people adore this series and i just didn't understand. the other day however, i was scrolling through goodreads and stumbled upon numerous excellent reviews for this book. some of them included quotes so i did a bit of research, applied for the arc, and dug into this story. boy am i happy i gave it another chance because this was SO FUCKING GOOD!!!

from the moment he started talking i loved charlie. his character is very... me.... yikes... anyway i just really related to a lot of his thoughts about being too much and not feeling like you belong anywhere. the writing in this book was genuinely so beautiful. the sheer amount of highlighted lines i have is crazy. nova was also a spectacular character. first off she was a tattoo artist.. such a win!! she was also just so "tough" on the outside and seeing her feel comfortable with charlie was amazing. their relationship was just wonderful. it was filled with such cute and sappy moments, like the heart grapes, and moments that were hot af, them in the hallway at her opening....

now i know i haven't read the whole series, it's something i will be doing now because i was obviously wrong to not do that before, but i feel like this is such a good ending for a small town series. the last chapter was filled with so much love, it felt like to warmest hug to see everyone come together and welcome charlie to the town. like i said beckett's book is being bought now and i hope that we maybe get books for him and nova's other sisters because seeing their family was a highlight in this already show-stopping story. you all need to have this on your radar to buy when it releases in july!!!

*thank you NetGalley and Berkley for this ARC*

NovaCharlie were so worth the wait and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with myself now that the Lovelight series is over. I loved these two so much, the carefree tattoo artist and the lore buttoned up businessman. The lack of miscommunication. The “one night to get it out of our systems” that does anything but. The small town vibes and our beloved characters from previous books making appearances. It was all perfection and a beautiful conclusion to a forever favorite series.

“I’ve taught myself how to be okay with fragments of feeling, but i don’t want that with you. I want more than what you’ve given me.”

So, in Business Casual, we have Nova, who's this grumpy character running a badass female-owned tattoo shop. And then there's Charlie, our golden retriever hero, working at a fancy investment firm. Charlie has been flirting up a storm with Nova for awhile, both are very uninterested in being a relationship. One night they decide to throw caution to the wind and just go for it. But little did they know, that one night would turn into many more, and they find themselves in a situation they never could have predicted.

Charlie boy🫶🏽 such a caring and selfless person, making sure everyone around him is happy. Always puts others' happiness before his own. He deserves nothing but the best.

Nova puts on a brave face and never asked for help, even when she really needed it. You don't have to carry everything on your own.

I was totally smitten with Charlie and Nova right from page one! Their banter had me cracking up and I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole book. And let me tell you, their chemistry was off the charts! It gave me all the feels and pulled at my heartstrings. I could relate to them so much, and there were moments that felt incredibly personal. Both had their own struggles, and it was incredible to see how they found healing together. I was a bit skeptical about diving into a one-night stand story they tend to prioritize lust over a deeper connection. But with Nova and Charlie, it was different. You could really feel their genuine love for each other. Their bond was built on friendship and trust, which made their relationship so much more meaningful.

I couldn't resist my curiosity ended up reading this series out of order. But you know what? I don't regret it one bit! After this amazing read, I'm excited to check out the other two books in the series. Can't wait to see what they have in store!

What a beautiful and PERFECT way to end such a loved series.

The Lovelight Farms series is so special to me and will always hold a place in my heart. Nova and Charlie's story was such an amazing way to visit this town one last time. If you're a fan of small town romances, enemies with benefits, tattoo shops, plants, or this series, you will LOVE this book. Everything B.K. Borison writes is a treat and this book is no exception.

I adored the ending to Lovelight Farms. It was sweet and soft, funny and meaningful. Charlie and Nova were a perfect opposites attract pairing and their love story was my favorite in an already-fantastic series.

Idk, it just wasn’t lightening in a bottle. I absolutely loved the banter. The beginning scenes were so good. Their relationship was just awkward at times, I guess it made for a disconnect. I likely won’t read more on the series but it was decent book.

I received this book from the publisher & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

B.K. Borison's BUSINESS CASUAL was a one day read for me! Lovers of small-town romances and grumpy x romance dynamics will absolutely devour this book. Is it a bit cliche? Sure, but it's cozy and cute with a kick of steamy scenes.

Nova Porter is a tattoo artist finally getting her dream: her own studio in her small hometown of Inglewild near everyone she loves. Realizing she hasn’t spent much time focusing on her love life, she decides to look for someone casual to scratch that itch and asks family friend/investment banker Charlie Mitford to do just that. Things heat up and their casual fling gets hotter, but the two don’t know what to do when his time at Lovelight Farms ends, ushering him back to NYC.

I’m a dork and requested this copy WITHOUT EVER READING THE OTHER LOVELIGHT FARM BOOKS. So now, since I read this one and absolutely loved it, I have to go back and read all the others. I adore the town, the chaos of the family and friends, and the backdrop of the tree farm. I’m figuring out that I am a huge fan of family/ensemble cast dynamics, and love the insanity that brings to a book. The writing is great, and the spice is white hot. I have been looking for another contemporary romance/women’s lit like Emily Henry and Katherine Center that didn’t seem like a carbon copy of all the others, and this one is it. My only complaint - the nickname. The nickname trope is strong with this one and I get tired of hearing the man call the woman by a nickname 95% of the time. Other than that - this book is grand! I’m off to read the others I should have read before!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

4.5 stars! Rounding up to five because I think this pairing is ~~brilliant~~

"What about now? Do you feel like you need Charlie?
"I want him. I don't need him, but I want him all of the time."

I have to say that this is my favorite book in the Lovelight series. It is by far the most different. When I think of the first three books in the series, I think cozy, sugary sweet, good vibes. And while Business Casual does have those elements, it is also super funny, sexy, equal parts lived in and idealistic, and in my opinion has a much deeper and fully realized love story.

I am a sucker for an independent girlie who is actually a secret softie and wants to be taken care of from time to time and Charlie was her PERFECT foil. Like I think the reason why I'm rating this so highly is because the pairing of Charlie boy and Nova girl is pretty top-tier. They balance and highlight each other so well. They also had insane physical chemistry and I can easily say this is Bec's spiciest book yet.

And their relationship had so many moments of feeling super realistic. How they flirted is how I expect real-life people to flirt and it was fun to have that grounding here. And yes there is some major wish fulfillment/romance too!

It's not a perfect five stars from me because sometimes I do feel like Bec's takes that wish fulfillment too far (particularly with her men), but it's a slap this book is gonna demolish once it goes live!!

Missing them and already want a physical copy.

THE BEST IN THE SERIES, hands down.

I truly enjoyed this entire series. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.. B.K Borison writes poetry.

I truly connected with Nova so so much. She was a confident and determined blonde FMC that hates asking for any help from anyone. No… but SAME 😭😭

Charlie is perfect! My new favorite characteristic of an MMC is when he loves spreadsheets and organization. INSTANT SWOON, ok? 🥰

I loved Nova and Charlie’s playful flirting and banter. I can also say this is the spiciest book in the series for sure. 😏😏

Favorite quotes:
“Asking for help doesn’t make you less deserving of anything you’ve already achieved on your own.”

“I don’t care how we categorize what we’re doing, as long as we can keep doing it.”

“I can’t wait to watch you take me, Nova.”

“Nova, I don’t think my feelings are business casual.”

- one night stand
- let’s get this out of our systems
- cinnamon roll MMC
- type A MMC
- tattooed FMC
- he takes care of her
- “you can take it” moment 🫠🫠
- found family
- opposites attract
- brothers friend
🌶️🌶️

Thank you so much NetGalley and B.K. Borison for the early arc copy!

What I love about B.K. Borison, is she gives her characters real characteristics. They have flaws, insecurities, and issues they deal with. This was another great installment of The Lovelight Farms series. This is definitely an opposites attract/found family trope. I loved the male main character, Charlie. He has dealt with ADHD his whole life and seeking validation from everyone. You felt for him. The female main character, Nova, was a powerhouse. She is a tattoo artist and the baby sister of the MMC from book 2. This was definitely the spiciest book in the series! I also love how characters from past books are still entwined in each book. I laughed and I cried!

*I always try to keep my reviews spoiler-free, so I won't make specific plot points for those who have not read this book or the series as a whole.

Charlie is Stella's fun-loving brother. Nova is Bennett's somewhat rebellious sister who has always tried to follow her own dreams for her life. I knew of them from the previous books but did not know much about their personal backstories. I loved their individual development throughout the story. I also loved how they grew together in the story. Their journey to self discovery and live was amazing.

My only complaint is that this is supposed to the last book in this series and that made me so sad. I loved this series and I would love more Lovelght Farms books.

Ok I LOVED this one. Favorite in the series by far. I think the culmination of this adorable series was sweet, spicy, and did not leave me wanting more from the story, the smut, or the plot. I will say, it started out a little silly, but trust me, just keep going. It's worth it.

*Thanks to NetGalley and BK Borison for the opportunity to preview this before it's published!

Business Casual by BK Borison
Format: ebook
Release Date: 7/16/24
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I take up too much space, I want to tell her. I’m loud and sometimes I don’t know how to stop talking. I’m a lot and I know that. I can’t figure out how to make myself fit, but I’m trying. I promise I’m trying.”

Oh my goodness this book. It is so bittersweet to see our time in Inglewild come to an end, but what a beautiful final installment!

This is one of the few romance books I’ve read where I related to the male main character more than the FMC lead. Our poor, sweet Charlie just wants a place to belong and his journey with Nova (and the community of Inglewild as a whole) is just the best.

As someone who doesn’t want to be who they are 90% of the time and knows how it feels to be positive you’re “too much” or “too loud”….Charlie was written so perfectly and genuinely. This is also a character insecurity I feel like we don’t see on page all that often which made him even more special!

Also I love a strong FMC business owner who is learning to be softer and more vulnerable! Seeing Nova lean on Charlie as the book goes on was so tender.

And, if all of this wasn’t enough to make you pick this book up there is a lot more Beckett content in Business Casual too! Loved getting more of the Porter family dynamic throughout this book!

So sad to be done with Inglewild adventures but can’t wait to see what Borison brings us next!

OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!! I have read all of the Lovelight Farms books, and loved all, but this one was my absolute favorite! I loved Charlie and Nova so much!

Charlie Milford arranges for a dream honeymoon to Italy for his sister Stella and her new husband. During the month they are gone, he helps run her farm and works remotely from his high paying/high stress investment job in New York City. It isn't as much of an inconvenience as one might think as Charlie loves the town, the people, his sister and the Porter family.

One member of the Porter family is tattoo artist Nova Porter - a beautiful, independent woman who decides it may be possible to relieve some stress with old friend and hopefully one-night stand, Charlie. Sparks fly and definitely sizzle as Nova and Charlie explore the physical side of stress-relief and surprisingly find a strong emotional bond develop. They have a hard time keeping their 'connection' a secret....especially with a phone tree of this town's level.

The two main characters are well-developed - and easy to like with hopes their romance endures. Since Business Casual is part of a series, the other characters/couples in town (who have bigger roles in the earlier books) have very basic background provided for anyone not starting the series with book one. There is an ample amount of spice for readers who prefer that element in their romance selections.

Thanks to Berkley Publishing, B. K. Borison and NetGalley for this ARC.
