I received this book as an e-arc for review by the publisher via netgalley, but only a handful of chapters in, I added the paperback (and the rest of the series) to my cart. Already I trusted the writing enough to know this was going to be amazing, and it was exactly the wholesome fulfilling romance I was hoping for.
Nova Porter is overwhelmed with the launching of her very own tattoo shop in her hometown of Inglewild. She's drowning in paperwork, to-do tasks, and responsibility. She needs a release. When fun-loving New Yorker and obnoxious flirt Charlie asks her to dance at the wedding they're both attending, she thinks he might be just the thing to help. But a proposition was the last thing he expected from Nova, and (adorable) awkwardness kills the moment. But now Charlie knows she's interested in that kind of relationship, and that changes everything.
Nova is a spunky, hard-working woman setting out on her own to make her dreams come true in the hometown that just feels right. She has regular dinners with her supportive family, and knows everyone in town. She knows she can handle it, but also - can she actually handle it? Charlie comes from an upper-class broken family with a father that makes him feel like he's only as good as what he can accomplish, and that he's not even good at that. He's gotten to know Inglewild through his half-sister, Stella, who runs a Christmas tree farm there, and it makes him feel whole in a way he's never experienced before, but he still feels like he doesn't quite belong.
This is an example of a story that works well because of character (not to belittle the idyllic setting, which was also amazing). Nova and Charlie are perfectly suited, but their character and backstory drive the conflict. If Charlie was with someone else, it wouldn't have the same ending. If Nova was with someone else, it wouldn't have the same inciting incident. They are so thoughtfully designed to create this engaging story full of so much longing, and a resolution that doesn't leave you feeling damaged, but with a bigger heart than you had before.
I adored Charlie. He's that not-a-puppy-anymore aged golden retriever pup at the shelter who was abandoned by his family and just looking for someone to tell him what a good boy he is. And he's a good boy. He's such a good boy. I dare you not to fall for him right along with Nova.
This is the fourth book in the Lovelight Farms series by BK Borison. Each volume corresponds to one of the seasons, and Business Casual is centered around fall. Nova and Charlie both find themselves on the Harvest Festival committee and work together to help the town make it a great event.
Business Casual is a feel-good read. You get that warm fuzzy feeling all the way through. Now that I've turned the last page, I have that book hangover feeling, like I just want to hold on a little bit longer. Luckily, there are three other books in the series I get to dive into next! If you're looking for your next romance fix, you can't go wrong with this one.
Was this my favorite of the series?! YUP.
This was so cute and so much fun. This was by far my favorite from the series! It was an enjoyable, quick lil beach read..
A fantastic way to end the Lovelight Farms books with Charlie & Nova's story. Borison is skilled at creating an atmosphere where you as the reader feel like you are a part of the town, of Nova's family, at the wedding of Luka and Stella. You'll fall for Charlie's sweet boyish charm and open heart while cheering for strong, independent Nova who struggles to be vulnerable. *Warning* You'll want some sort of sweet floral tattoo by the end!
I absolutely loved this book and this was a perfect way to wrap up the series. The chemistry between Charlie and Nova was so good . I loved their banter and cute moments so much
It was so great to be back in the world of the Lovelight series! I’ve loved every book in the series and just can’t get enough of the wonderful characters and the charming small town.
Business Casual is the fourth book in the series and this book is Charlie’s. Charlie has been such a fun secondary character in the earlier books so it was great to get to know more about him in this book. Charlie is a successful investment banker and he also loves to be the life of the party.
When the book opens, Charlie is having a blast at a wedding and sets his sights on dancing with Nova Porter. Nova is a talented tattoo artist who also happens to be the sister of one of Charlie’s good friends. Nova is busy trying to get her tattoo studio up and running and has no time for, or interest in a relationship. She can’t deny that she finds Charlie attractive though and after dancing with him at the wedding, he seems equally infatuated with her.
Nova doesn’t need this distraction so she proposes a one-night stand so they can get each other of their systems and move on. What starts out as casual with no strings quickly escalates though when it becomes clear they both really do have feelings for one another and that it’s pretty much impossible to avoid each other in such a small town. The sexual tension builds until they just can’t fight it anymore!
I really adored Charlie and Nova together. They’ve got a grumpy-sunshine vibe and their banter is just so flirty and perfect. I also love how their relationship evolves quickly into something more emotional. Charlie, in particular, shows a vulnerable side I didn’t realize he had.
Heartwarming with a hint of spice, Business Casual is perfect for fans of small town and friends to lovers romances.
✔️ Small Town
✔️ Black Cat/Golden Retriever
✔️ It's Just Sex
✔️ Nurse Back to Health
✔️ Found Family
I loved this one - it will definitely be among my top reads of the year.
Charlie and Nova were terrific together and rank as one of my fave Black Cat/Golden Retriever couples. Their chemistry, mutual pining, and declarations of love made cartoon hearts float out of my eyes.
Loved the small town/found family, too. And there was one glorious scene with all the book couples in the same room - I legit squealed and maybe kicked my feet in the air at that part.
Highly recommend - 5⭐️! I don't think you need to read this series in order (the first one I read was Mixed Signals, book 3) so feel free to read this and go back and pick up the others.
Steam 🔥🔥🔥

Swoon 💕💕💕💕💕
BK Borison can do no wrong! This was a five star for me and my favorite romance book of the year so far! The characters, the side characters, the banter, and the romance are top-tier! If you don’t read any other romance this year, read this one
I am absolutely obsessed with the Lovelight Farms series. I was so excited to see another book coming out in the series. I think it might be one of my favorite covers of the series but honestly, I love them all.
B.K. Borison does not miss!
We are back at Lovelight Farms and this time we get to follow Charlie, Stella’s half brother, and Nova, Beckett’s youngest sister. Charlie is staying in Inglewild for a month while Stella and Luka go on a month long honeymoon. Nova is finally opening her dream of her own tattoo shop. Charlie has been flirting with Nova to get a rise out of her for at least a year. Nova finally decides to flirt back and asks him to sleep with her in an attempt to feel better. This shocks Charlie, but ultimately they mutually decide to try to get each other out of their systems and keep things “business casual”.
I loved Nova and Charlie in previous books, so I was excited to get to know them more. Nova is fiercely independent and feels as though by asking for help, she is showing weakness. Charlie doesn’t believe he deserves to be loved, so he attempts to make everyone happy so that they want to keep him around.
Their banter is top notch. I am a sucker for banter and I loved that heirs wasn’t mean, but just truly flirty with a little teasing. It’s funny how obvious their chemistry is immediately, considering how long they deny it. I wanted to give Charlie a hug this entire story too. He is so sweet and such a good guy, but is dealing with his own baggage.
As with Borison’s other novels in this series, I appreciate that there isn’t a 3rd act miscommunication put in just to add drama. I also love how she seamlessly weaves in the other characters from the previous stories. The town of Inglewild is a character in and of itself, and it’s done beautifully.
I do feel like each book in this series has gotten spicier, but I don’t feel like it’s a bad thing. I don’t think I have anything to complain about in this book other than that it’s over! I know this one is advertised as the final Inglewild book, but I really hope it’s not!
If you haven’t read this series, please do so. All 4 books are lovely and such a good time. I would love to see these stories picked up as a series somehow. I think they would be so comforting and warm.
Business Casual by @bkborrison is the 4th & final book of the Lovelight Farms series.
🌸
It is one of my favorite small town book series & I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters. If you want a Stars Hollow feeling book series…this is it.
🌸
We follow Nova & Charlie, both siblings of MCs in previous novels as they flirt and develop a “business casual” relationship.
🌸
It was cute, it was steamy & I throughly enjoyed it.
anyone that knows me on booksta knows how absolutely feral I have been for this book. I've been waiting for Charlie x Nova since 2022! when this was given to me back in May, I dropped everything, put my phone on silent, and read this in one sitting.
I laughed, I cried, my heart hurt with the absolute love that this book is filled with. Charlie and Nova are my favorite pairing of this series, hands down. I've said before that Inglewild holds a special place in my heart. This series will a place I will revisit over and over.
Thank you to BK Borison for sharing this special place with all of us. ❤️
Nova and Charlie know each other through Stella. He is an investment banker in the city who likes the lifestyle it affords him. While on their one-month honeymoon, Charlie is in town covering at Lovelight Farms. He can not help but run into Nova everywhere he goes. He teases her and flirts shamelessly in hopes of catching her attention.
Nova is not interested in a romantic relationship. She did want a one-night stand with Charlie and offered it during Stella’s reception, but he didn’t catch on, which left things a bit awkward for a moment. They get back on track to their friendship, and the emotions are still very strong. The banter is hilarious. I like Charlie’s cheeky, flirtatious vibe.
Nova decides she doesn’t want to continue playing games and proposes a one-night stand. This time, Charlie is on board. The problem is that one night can’t satisfy either one of their desires. Can their friendship survive the outcome of any romantic involvement?
I like the bold differences between Charlie and Nova. He is this straight-laced city guy placed in this small town. She is a bit harder with tats and an interesting family dynamic, but they fit. Initially, I thought Charlie had more interest in Nova than Chalie, but after a while, I realized that Nova secretly liked the fact that Charlie constantly flirted with her and showed her some affection. I love that she finally left her guard down and gave him validation to help with his insecurities.
I love the small town and all the characters. As the series winds down, more of the old characters are visible in each book. I love catching up on old characters and wish we get more of Lovelight Farms in the future.
Overall, fans of the Lovelight Farms series and contemporary romance will enjoy this story.

What to expect:
• Fall cozy small town
• Friends to lovers
• Opposites attract
• Tattoo artist FMC
• Beautiful writing
This book was just beautiful and I can’t believe the Lovelight Farms series is complete! I’ve loved every book in this world — the characters, the charming town and the incredibly atmospheric writing is what makes them all so great. This one was no different.
Business Casual is the perfect lightly autumnal book, ideal for end of August reading to get you into the fall mood. Seeing fall in Inglewild and experiencing Charlie and Nova working together on the fall festival was so much fun!
And the characters!!!! All of them, from all the books, and the cast of secondary characters are just amazing. But let’s talk about Charlie and Nova — they were both such rich and beautiful characters, and their opposites attract romance was so perfect! So much tension, banter and emotion. I loved it. And I loved seeing Charlie find home and meaning in a small town away from where he lived, in NYC.
Highly recommend this, especially if you loved the other Lovelight Farm books and are looking for a cozy Autumnal read.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley and for this ARC
We are back on lovelight farms, dear friends. We meet the people we helped pair up and watch them grow and we meet their friends and family. The goodness, the healing…we all need a little bit of love light farm in our lives.
Nova girl 😭😭😭 I never thought anything would top In the Weeds for me in this series, but I knew if a book could, it would be Charlie and Nova’s. Charlie was so me and I was so emotional about it? What he goes through and how he feels. I’m getting emotional typing this. Always putting others before you and never being anyone’s “favorite”. But he was giving off the appearance of always being happy and so lovable. I adored Nora for Charlie and Charlie for Nora, they were the perfect pair, and how they complicated each other so well.
I’ve been with the Lovelight Farms series since the very first book came out, with the very old cover in 2021. I picked up this indie book then wanting a Holiday read! And got so much more than that. I fell hard for Becs writing and the warm hug she wraps in her books. I’m so proud to see how far they’ve come and the people I’ve met in this series! Fictional you may SAY but I’ll always have a very special place in my heart for Lovelight Farms, phone tree and all ♥️
"One of the most beautiful things about you is your big heart and your faithfulness to the people you care about. I know you think you're being selfish, taking affection for yourself, but you're not. It’s generosity. The best sort of love.”
"I've never been anyone's favorite," he whispers.
"Well," I say, feeling defensive. "You're mine."
"I think you might be my very best friend, Charlie. It’s nothing like I thought."
Five huge stars for Business Casual. I have to admit that I was a little nervous going into this book because it is the last of the series and I’ve loved the other books so much. Hindsight 20/20, I don’t know why I was ever worried that BK wasn’t gonna deliver. She always does. And this one just might be her best book yet.
Heartfelt. Sweet. I couldn’t put this book down. This book was a true escape from reality & a refreshing contemporary romance.
BK BORISON COME TO THE FRONT RN! I felt a rollercoaster of emotions reading this book (all positive ones). I cried, I giggled, I blushed, I fell so deeply in love with them. I'm both happy to have read this book and sad that my Lovelight Farms era has ended. Charlie and Nova are so perfect together, my fave black cat and golden retriever duo <3 If I reread this book (and I will be), it's because I'm in need of some comfort and the entire Lovelight Farms series IS SO COMFORT CODED
5 Stars
So apparently I skipped a book in this series, but that's OKAY because they are standalone and tied by secondary characters and OMG I LOVED THESE CHARACTERS SO MUCH.
Charlie is the out-of-towner-but-is-a-fixture-in-town character from the other books and I could not wait to see how his romance panned out. He may not live Maryland and his three-piece suit NYC investment banker self might seem like the type that can't hang, but he does. So when he is at his sister's wedding, and he and our FMC, Nova, can't deny their attraction, they decide to let it be just ONE NIGHT OKAY? And my lord, was it a hot and steamy one night.
But Nova is his total opposite. She is about to open her own tattoo shop, and loves her town and her family and appreciates all of their sacrifices that paved the way for her to be where she is. She CANNOT AND WILL NOT LET ANYTHING SCREW UP THIS OPPORTUNITY. But Charlie is hard to get out of her system, and one night was never going to be enough. And oh, Charlie is going to be in town filling in for his sister while she is off on her honeymoon, so he is EVERYWHERE.
Their tension, their opposites attract, their steamy.... IT'S PERFECTION. The town full of quirky characters and phone trees was so delightful and I loved seeing all of the other couples from before come together to make this romance HAPPEN. It was such a great book and one of my favorite in the series.
I loved this story so much and was sad that it was going to be the end of the Lovelight Farms series. I enjoyed watching Nova and Charlie figure things out and also deny their feelings. I’m a huge fan of when it’s brother’s best friend and the brother is like why would I be upset? it’s honestly the only way to do it in my opinion. But overall I loved seeing into Charlie’s life and head more and him finding the love and validation he deserved
Love is the last thing on Nova’s mind, but for some reason she can’t ignore her attraction to investment banker, Charlie. She’s busy opening up a tattoo shop and doesn’t want the distraction, and hopes that a friends with benefits situation is the perfect way to get this attraction out of her system. Nova and Charlie agree to an arrangement, that they will keep up the friends with benefits relationship until her shop opens, but of course keeping her feelings at bay is easier said than done.
I have been a huge fan of the Lovelight Farms series since the original release of book 1, so seeing the series come to an end was bittersweet. But as sad as I was to say goodbye to the series and the characters, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect conclusion. Nova was the perfect strong female main character to wrap up the series. And Charlie was the best cinnamon roll counterpart to her badass self. I adored them together, and I loved that we got so many glimpses into the town I fell in love with and characters from the previous books. This series is truly a heartwarming one and I am sad to say goodbye (until I reread of course).
Thank you to Berkley Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy.
The Lovelight Farms gang is back and we’re getting a connection between the OG 3’s siblings. Stella’s stepbrother Charlie is a total golden retriever looking to be the hero. Meanwhile, Beckett’s youngest sister Nova is a tough and talented tattoo artist. It just takes one dance at a wedding for the sparks to fly between these opposites but a one night stand proposal will either be the best or worst idea for these two.
While a cute story (loved seeing overprotective Beckett) I didn’t get as into the story as I hope I would and found the pair too unlikely.
Thank you to Berkley Publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
