A little spicier than I like and I knew what was going to happen at the end but I still really liked the story and how everyone tied into each other in the end. Great symmetry. The narrator was great and the story kept you coming back.
I went into blind to this one and am so happy I did. The perfect way to start out Black History Month and a leap year! Both being extremely large themes in this one. This was a story of finding your person and what would you do to ensure you can keep that love forever. I was very pleasantly surprised and I enjoyed the audio so much. We had multiple POV as well as multiple narrators. Some dual timelines thrown in.
I absolutely loved the characters in this. Ricki was amazing and strong as was her handsome counterpart. Ms. Della and Tuesday gave a bit of comedic relief. This had heartbreak and triumph. It truly was a great read.
I was so happy to listen to this for Black History month and I loved it. It is a modern fairy tale, with a beautiful twist. Just a delight to listen to, they narrators did an amazing job. I listened to almost all in one day. Just a perfect read for Valentine's day. A beautiful love story with a time travel aspect that is just magical.
I can't wait to read other stories by this author. Thanks to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the ALC.

. I gave this book 4 stars, I found the female voice a little annoying, but OVER time, I started to enjoy her voice.
. A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Willia.s release on Feb. 6, 2024.
. We are introduced to Ricki Wilde, take a leap of faith and move away from her family, and jump at a chance for a fresh beginning. She realized her dreams of opening up a flower shop.
. The beginning is kinda confusing because of the world building and the characters introduced, but once you hit 50% of the story, EVERYTHING starts to make sense and starts to come to light.

If you loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue- this truly is a must read story, and should be added to your TBR asap if it hasn’t already been added!!!
Have you ever felt that Leap Days have the potential to be full of magic? If so, this book explores the beauty of found family, soulmates, falling in love, finding yourself and so much more all tied to Leap Day.
The story is so immersive with the descriptions of Harlem, New York in past in the height of Jazz in the 1920’s and then in present day as well.
I loved the mystery and magical realism that were weaved into the plot and I audible gasped when the reveal of the connection between past and present timelines was made, initially and then again towards the end of the book and truly found so much beauty in the interconnectedness of the characters.
The ending gave me the chills and was so beautiful, especially when looking at the magic of love of soulmates and that of family of the heart that you choose.
Thank you a million times over to the publisher for my ALC in exchange for my review!
Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc.
Ugh this was so good! I loved this way more than I thought I would.
If you love; Harlem, fated mates and flowers this one is for you!
This was a really good book but not isn't your typical romance book. It is rice with history and character development. I didn't think the romance was the central piece of this book. I really liked the found family with the grandmother. It was a three star for me because of my expectations as a romance reader and how long it took for anything to happen romance wise, but I definitely think this is a book many will enjoy.
Thank you Hatchette for this review copy of Tia Williams' A Love Song for Ricki Wilde. I loved this story! Ricki's story was so interesting, I loved her creative goals and her taking a stand to make her career be her own, I loved to hate her sisters when they showed up in the story, I loved the NYC setting, all of the secondary characters and how they became woven into Ezra's story (and Ricki's)... and I loved the relationship.
This story has a nice exploration of love, identity, family, and hurt/grief through a gentle magical realism approach (yes you have to accept the general premise but then it's also just a great love story and story of self growth for Ricki). The plot moves by fast even at an 11 hour or so audiobook and I love how the last 25% of the book brought me in fully into the "what happened/what will happen/how will this resolve" feelings that kept me really engaged in the storytelling.
The strongest part was the narration, I thought Mela Lee and Preston Butler were perfect for narrating this story, resonant and vibrant and their styles complemented each other so well. They had a way of making me feel as though they were in the car with me telling their story!
Thank you so much to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of "A Love Song for Ricki Wilde" by Tia Williams in exchange for an honest review!
This is the second book I've read by Tia Williams and I am definitely not disappointed! This book is a slow burn, magical romance, and it gave me "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" vibes. The writing style and the story line are wonderful, and I found myself both laughing out loud and tearing up! There are beautiful soulmate connections in this book (both romantic and platonic) which I always enjoy reading about. This book celebrates Black history so it was a perfect read since February is Black History Month! I also really liked reading the little references the author included from her other novel, "Seven Days in June".
I listened to this as an audiobook and I quite enjoyed the narration - it was smooth, captivating, and easy to listen to. The voice really fit the characters and helped me imagine them.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read it!
This book beautifully intertwines Black love and history with stunning, barely-believable magical realism. It captivated me with jaw-dropping moments and unexpected plot twists, making it impossible to put down. The narration on top of it made this book come to life in such a beautiful way. A must-read that I'll wholeheartedly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and Hachette Audio for the ARC and ALC in exchange for an honest review.
After hearing such great things about Tia Williams’s novel “Seven Days in June,” I picked up this book without even reading the description. I was expecting a love story, but I got so much more than that. This book was full of romance, history, and magic. It is the kind of story that will make you laugh, make you cry, and keep you wanting more. “A Love Song for Ricki Wilde” will steal your heart with its lovable, charming, unforgettable characters.
I listened to the audiobook read by Mela Lee and Preston Butler. This was my first time listening to either of these narrators, and I will definitely be listening to more. They were such incredible storytellers that I would honestly listen to them read my grocery list. Highly recommend this one on audio!
I have no words to express how beautifully written this book is. From the vivid setting of Harlem with an air of a mysterious stranger who Ricki engages with a romance. Never have I enjoyed a dual timeline like this, modern day Harlem and the Harlem renaissance.
the worst part of this book is the romance.
the best part of this book is genre-bending, bantery, filled with unforgettable characters and a cool flower shop and a lovely setting in harlem, and that it is unrealistic in literally every way but it doesn't seem like it matters at all.
i just didn't like the love story, which is insta. no matter what the surroundings i can never seem to get past that one trope. it is my kryptonite. but i had so much fun with the rest of this!
I’ll be honest that it took me a hot minute to understand what was happening but one I did WOW WOW WOW!!!!! Tia Williams proves, once again, that she is a master at her craft. this woman writes soulmates unlike anything I’ve ever read before. this a MUST READ for february and a little leap day magic and destiny and multi-generational storytelling.
This book took me by complete surprise, as I had previouly heard of Seven Days in June, but never got round to reading it. Now that I've loved this book so much, I'll just have to go back. Ricki Wilde and Ezra Walter are two love interests (literally) for the ages! The romance was incredibly swoony, while the second characters and friends added depth and interest to the story. However, the best aspect of the book for me was the exploration of past Harlem, the mention of past music styles and composers, together with the idea that any city is a palympsest. If you like your romance to be front and centre in a book, with believable characters despite some insta-love and a dash of magical realism - or maybe because of it - this book is phenomenal.
Enjoyed listening to this masterpiece! The author did a great job with writing this & I was full once I was done listening to this. Chefs kiss..
The author captures the rich history of Harlem all while telling the beautiful story of fated lovers with a magical twist.
I loved Seven Days in June so I knew I’d love this one by Tia Williams. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Mela Lee and Preston Butler and their voices were just so fitting for these characters. It made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
Thank you so much to @HachetteAudio and @netgalley for providing this free audiobook which comes out on February 6th!
Deeply romantic, whimsical, and a celebration of Black history, Black love, and Black art. I loved the magical realism aspects - it felt like reading a modern fairy tale! Also, I squealed when we got a "Seven Days on June" character cameo!!!
I read almost entirely via audio and loved that format! Thanks to Hachette Audio for the ALC and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC!
"For a long time, I thought I knew what my calling was. My Grand Purpose. But when I met Ricki, I knew I was wrong. I was a fool, thinking I was born to do anything grander than loving her."
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde was an absolute delight! I would say this is also a love song to NY and the history of the Harlem Renaissance. The genre-bendiness with the touch of paranormal elements is honestly one of my favorite things in a contemporary romance. I loved the mystery and build up to the final reveal. I think this is a book that's best gone into with little knowledge of the premise.
Ricki and Ezra were such wonderful characters- I adored them and their respective backstories.
Ms Della and Tuesday were honestly the best side characters that I've seen in a long time. They were so funny and sincere in their love & support for Ricki. They had me laughing and crying multiple times.
This audiobook was so well done! The narrators were both wonderful and brought these characters to life.
Mmm, mmm, mmm! This is actually my very FIRST Tia Williams read and it did not disappoint. It gave me all the Addie LaRue vibes and I loved that. I went into this novel relatively blind. It was absolutely beautifully written. Tia Williams has an incredibly enchanting way of telling stories.
I was gifted the audiobook copy of A Love Song for Ricki Wilde, courtesy of Hachette Audio and it was PERFECT. The narrators really blew me away. Mela Lee and Preston Butler did an INCREDIBLE job. Absolutely perfect.
Ms. Della was the BEST, BEST, BEST!
I adored this story from start to finish. It was completely mesmerizing. I am a huge fan of Magical Realism and this novel does it beautifully.
