This book was absolutely killer, pun intended. The pacing was perfectly done and motives were revealed in a way where I genuinely never knew what to expect next. The dark humor and satire weaved throughout and embedded in the (perfectly) unlikable characters is exactly what the book needed to shine. I was truly surprised and throughly entertained by the way this one wrapped up. Can't wait to see what Weston has next!

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND PUBLISHER FOR THIS ADVANCE REVIEW COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

This is the story of five childhood best friends who grew up supporting and defending each other. Although with time there are groups and subgroups inside the big circle. They established a hierarchy and accepted the nature of each other for what they were. It doesn't mean they are angles, they hurt each other all the time, sometimes on purpose and sometimes not. Those events have been piling up in their hearts but they can't be said out loud.  One of my friends decided to get married but ended up getting dead on her hen do and it didn't end there. Someone got the taste of murder and some serial killer is on the loose.

This book started with a lot of potential but at one point it started to feel dragged, and the second half recovered the pace. The vibe could have been so dark, but the writing style made it kinda funny and light read. These friends of so selfish and nonserious, people are dying still they are more concerned about their weddings and looks. I liked the concept and story. It was an enjoyable read.

When Pretty Little Liars meets Gossip Girl. Just the kind of light read I needed on a cozy weekend. It was funny, light and well paced. I just wished it had a stronger story plot. The build up was good and it kept my attention however the turning point of the story didn’t serve that punch I was hoping for. It was an enjoyable read nonetheless and I thank NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the chance to read this in advance!

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The twist I didn’t expect. Thank you NetGalley for this arc.

A pretty fun but kind of dark murder mystery, this book is about a hen party who are all under suspicion when their bride drops dead. I liked it for the most part, but there were definitely too many characters being introduced at the same time, and I found it hard to follow most of them. A shame, because I wanted to love this one!

Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy of the book to review

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the arc!

Maybe I loved this extra because I’m about to get married but oh my god was this ever fun! Weird to describe a murder thriller as fun but it was.

Neverending twists made this a truly great read

A funny and entertaining mystery/thriller with compelling yet unlikeable characters and plenty of surprises.

Five childhood friends who don’t seem to like each other very much these days come together for a hen party. When one of them is murdered, they wonder if it has anything to do with the secret that has bonded them for life…

This was a lot of fun and definitely kept me guessing throughout. The ending felt a bit rushed (maybe because I wanted to spend even more time with these characters!) but, overall, this was a hoot to read.

Thank you to Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the advanced copy!

The bride drops dead the members of her hen party are left to find out what happened. A mystery with a laugh out loud sense of humor. The bridesmaids were not the most like able group but that’s what made the book entertaining.#netgalley #randomhouse

What a fun one! I loved the setting of this one -- five childhood best friends who have complex lives of their own are reunited as they gear up for each other's weddings and hen weekends (for a handful of them, one is divorced, one has an ex we meet, you get the idea). When one is murdered before a hen weekend (we meet the characters on the way to said weekend), all eyes are on the bridesmaids as suspects. The twists don't stop there, as another death occurs as we discover a tangled web of secrets that truly keeps these friends together; secrets and lies, not true friendship. I particularly like books that aren't afraid to show the dark dynamics of female friendships, and this one did that perfectly. Also, I can always appreciate when thriller books take a new angle/setting, and I loved the way the characters were written with flashbacks to the past so we could get additional context on how they found themselves here.

The layers of satire, sarcasm, and quick-witted humor made this such a fun read. Very few books can keep me as entertained as this one did, where I found myself laughing out loud and plotting out theories to figure out the killer — which I was SHOCKED by. The ending alone bumped it from 3 to 4 stars for me! Eager to read more from this author :)

The main characters, a group of 35-year old friends since childhood, are some of the most insufferable characters I’ve ever read. They all felt like carbon copies of each other with only their names to distinguish them: whiny, entitled, stuck up women with no regard for anything or anyone other than themselves. It’s canon for the repulsive characters to be killed of in thrillers, yet almost all of these made it out unscathed! *eye twitch* Their friends die, there’s a page of “oh no, I’m so sad,” and then they completely disregard it and it’s back to bridezilla and weddings and hen dos and whatnot. The murders felt like a subplot in a thriller centered about murder and mystery.

Positive note: I did think the killer reveal and the tidying of loose ends in the final chapters were pretty satisfying and were on par with what we knew about these characters and read the whole book. But overall, these characters just were not enjoyable to read about in the slightest, and the plot didn’t do enough carrying to make it worth sticking through it. Thank you to Random House for the advanced copy.

I’ve been on a thriller kick (but not a scary thriller kick) and this dark but satirical novel was the perfect read! I want to say it’s like a cozy mystery, but make fill it with f bombs and inflatable penii and multiple bachelorette parties - fun but also keeps you guessing. This will be a perfect beach read for the summer! Thanks for netgalley and random house for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun mystery book! It follows a group of women preparing for the wedding of a friend. They are all at different points in their lives and varying degrees of friendship. All of the women are just a little bit awful, which I enjoyed. When the group comes together for Tansy's wellness retreat bachelorette trip things go from awkward to worse when Tansy falls ill and dies during one of the group activities. The book follow the women as they deal with the fallout. All of the women have secrets that they might be willing to kill to keep quiet and one mystery that ties them all together. I really liked all of the characters and the mystery. At one point I thought I had it all worked out but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. This was my first Kate Weston book, I look forward to reading more from her!!

This was a fun, quick read with messy characters and even messier relationships. I didn't think of this book as a thriller necessarily, but felt like we just got to be a fly on the wall in the midst of a chaotic time in these characters' lives. Characters who, turns out, have lots of secrets they aim to keep from each other. They're all irritating and a bit unlikeable, but in a comedic way that still has you rooting for them. Thanks to Random House & NetGalley for letting me read this ARC!

3.5 stars rounded up. This was a fun and funny quick read. It reminded me of Pretty Little Liars (but a more adult version). It reminded me a bit of Desperate Housewives too. At the start I was worried that the split POV was going to take away from the mystery aspect, but I think the author kept things mysterious well and didn't make the ending too predictable. The characters weren't necessarily likeable but they were amusing and intentionally annoying and bad people. I thought the start of this was a good pace, but it started to drag in the middle before it picked up fast in the end again.

One thing I really loved about this book was the hilarious throwaway lines. I easily imagined a set of comedic actresses taking this dialogue and running with it. It was probably my funniest read of the year so far. I loved the backdrops, the wedding culture felt easy for me to connect with as a woman in her late twenties. I liked all of the subplots and agree with another reviewer who said the subplots felt a little real-housewives a times (which I liked!!)

The pacing was a little off for me. With a plot like this, and these funny, unlikeable, BUT INTERESTING characters… I shouldn’t have been able to put this book down. There were a few times where I found my mind wandering and switching to something else.

This absolutely served British pretty little liars vibes!!! Five friends with a secret, and one gets murdered at her hen do. They all have motive & means, but who was the killer??

A dual timeline story reveals secrets and clues to who the murderer could be. This was an engaging & fun read!!!

This thriller hooked me from the start and proved to be the perfect sarcastic, dark-humor read!

Readers meet the characters as they are en route to a hen-do weekend. Tansy, the bride-to-be, has her party organized by Saskia, an aspiring party planner hoping to boost her online influencer status. Amidst the festivities, Farah is busily planning her wedding, Dominica is immersed in a divorce case, Lauren is receiving texts from her ex, Joss, and shooting glares at Eva, his new flame, who was introduced to him by none other than Tansy herself. Through multiple POVs, readers slowly unravel the years of history and deceit between these women and get a glimpse into each of their inner thoughts.

The plot takes a dark turn when Tansy is promptly murdered, casting suspicion on all the bridesmaids. Through skillful use of flashbacks, we delve into their intricate past relationships with Tansy and each other. The revelation emerges that their bond is not driven by genuine friendship but rather a shared fear of someone unveiling their secrets.

The book's witty satire and sarcasm throughout were thoroughly enjoyable, and I found myself genuinely surprised by the killer's identity. I had many theories throughout the book but the ending genuinely shocked me, I also appreciated how while some details were wrapped up, some were kept up in the air and left to the reader's interpretation.

This book felt all over the place. It felt like nothing happened yet so much happened? Such a cast of unlikable characters (with absolutely no development??) and I found the ending pretty unsatisfying and abrupt after what was a pretty long drawn out book.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The title and book cover is what really drew me into to this book. I usually enjoy this type of book especially regarding bridal parties. It took me awhile to get into the story itself. The characters were a bit comedic to me and I couldn’t get past that to take the book seriously.
