3.5 stars rounded up. This was a fun and funny quick read. It reminded me of Pretty Little Liars (but a more adult version). It reminded me a bit of Desperate Housewives too. At the start I was worried that the split POV was going to take away from the mystery aspect, but I think the author kept things mysterious well and didn't make the ending too predictable. The characters weren't necessarily likeable but they were amusing and intentionally annoying and bad people. I thought the start of this was a good pace, but it started to drag in the middle before it picked up fast in the end again.

One thing I really loved about this book was the hilarious throwaway lines. I easily imagined a set of comedic actresses taking this dialogue and running with it. It was probably my funniest read of the year so far. I loved the backdrops, the wedding culture felt easy for me to connect with as a woman in her late twenties. I liked all of the subplots and agree with another reviewer who said the subplots felt a little real-housewives a times (which I liked!!)
The pacing was a little off for me. With a plot like this, and these funny, unlikeable, BUT INTERESTING characters… I shouldn’t have been able to put this book down. There were a few times where I found my mind wandering and switching to something else.

This absolutely served British pretty little liars vibes!!! Five friends with a secret, and one gets murdered at her hen do. They all have motive & means, but who was the killer??
A dual timeline story reveals secrets and clues to who the murderer could be. This was an engaging & fun read!!!

This thriller hooked me from the start and proved to be the perfect sarcastic, dark-humor read!
Readers meet the characters as they are en route to a hen-do weekend. Tansy, the bride-to-be, has her party organized by Saskia, an aspiring party planner hoping to boost her online influencer status. Amidst the festivities, Farah is busily planning her wedding, Dominica is immersed in a divorce case, Lauren is receiving texts from her ex, Joss, and shooting glares at Eva, his new flame, who was introduced to him by none other than Tansy herself. Through multiple POVs, readers slowly unravel the years of history and deceit between these women and get a glimpse into each of their inner thoughts.
The plot takes a dark turn when Tansy is promptly murdered, casting suspicion on all the bridesmaids. Through skillful use of flashbacks, we delve into their intricate past relationships with Tansy and each other. The revelation emerges that their bond is not driven by genuine friendship but rather a shared fear of someone unveiling their secrets.
The book's witty satire and sarcasm throughout were thoroughly enjoyable, and I found myself genuinely surprised by the killer's identity. I had many theories throughout the book but the ending genuinely shocked me, I also appreciated how while some details were wrapped up, some were kept up in the air and left to the reader's interpretation.

This book felt all over the place. It felt like nothing happened yet so much happened? Such a cast of unlikable characters (with absolutely no development??) and I found the ending pretty unsatisfying and abrupt after what was a pretty long drawn out book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The title and book cover is what really drew me into to this book. I usually enjoy this type of book especially regarding bridal parties. It took me awhile to get into the story itself. The characters were a bit comedic to me and I couldn’t get past that to take the book seriously.

There was not one likeable character in this entire book. Which made me love it all the more. The mystery was intense and more bingeable than a Netflix top ten and a bucket of extra butter popcorn. I inhaled it in one sitting. Thank you to the editor and netgalley for my book hangover

Overall an enjoyable read. Though I felt like I had read something very similar last year. I believe the book was called "She Started It".. nevertheless I enjoyed this read and even chucked a few times. Loved the sarcastic, dark humor as well.

I have to say, this locked room mystery surpassed my expectations! I loved the highly diverse bridesmaids, along with the unfortunate bride-to-be, and couldn’t wait for the big reveal! So good!

This book was a fun read with some humor in it. The characters were pretty unlikeable at times but it helped with the story line of "who did it?". I rated this 3 stars on goodreads because I thought the ending was abrupt and unsatisfying. I wanted to hear more about the ended develpments of the characters relationships and careers!

ARC provided by NetGalley.
This was a very fun read! Definitely an absurd book, but it kept me entertained throughout. I loved the flawed and verrry morally grey characters and their dynamics. I didn’t see most of the twists coming and it was so fun to just follow along this fever dream of a plot. I also thought the modern-day references were very tastefully done, unlike in many contemporary stories. A very engaging and solid read!!!

You May Now Kill the Bride by Kate Weston is a humorous contemporary fiction novel with a dash of murder. The story revolves around 5 friends - Lauren, Saskia, Dominica, Farah, and Tansy - who have been friends forever. Now that one of them is getting married, they get together for a hen do. Unfortunately, the bride turns up dead. And everyone else turns into a suspect. Could one of them have murdered the bride? Who was threatening the bride before the hen do? And what does it have to do with a buried secret from 20 years ago?
Here is a humorous excerpt from Chapter 1:
"When Tansy’s engagement announcement went viral just hours after posting, it made perfect sense for Saskia—as one of Tansy’s oldest and dearest friends—to plan the hen do. Tansy agreed almost immediately, realizing that with Saskia’s elite organizational skills, she was of course the best person for the job. But now that the whole run-up to the wedding is so high-profile, with thousands of followers watching on, Saskia needs to make sure it remains classy. At least she knows they’re relatively safe in the woods. No internet connection and no alcohol. The perfect scandal-free time. They just have to get there without anyone tagging her in pictures of inflatable penises on Instagram."
Overall, You May Now Kill the Bride is a contemporary fiction novel that will appeal to fans of Pretty Little Liars or Four Aunties and a Wedding. One highlight of this book is that it is laugh-out-loud funny. Another highlight of this book is how the murder plotline keeps things interesting and moves the plot along. If I had to complain about 1 thing, I would say that there were a lot of characters, and I eventually understood who was who, but it was difficult at first. One final highlight of the book is the ending that you'll never see coming! The reveal of the murderer was seriously a surprise. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of contemporary fiction with humor, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in May!

Funny, funny blend of chick lit and thriller , when best friends turn on a bridezilla. The mystery is actually fairly twisty, despite its humorous tone, and I felt engaged the whole way through. A one night read.

This novel had the perfect combo of thriller and dark humor. It was a wildly entertaining quick read.

You May Now Kill the Bride by Kate Weston was excellent! This should be required reading for every burned out bridesmaid. I was crying from laughing and didn’t see the ending coming! This book is perfect for anytime of year and a rare book I would want to read again.

Such a cool thriller, like if the Real Housewives picked up some weapons at some point. No one was likable but the culprit was still surprisingly thanks for the arc

Immediately upon reading the description I knew I needed to read this book, it sounded wild. And it did not disapoint. The drama between the friends was fantastic, I love the cast of unlikeable characters that this author created. The sarcasm/bits had me laughing. There were so many story lines going on, but each was interesting and entertaining. I enjoyed seeing all of them converge as I got closer to the end of the book. I genuinely could not tell who the killer was going to be. I'll definately be recommending this book to my friends when it comes out!

This thriller had me hooked right from the start and proved to be the perfect sarcastic, dark humour read!

Altho this book started off slow it really picked up around 40% through.
Let me tell you this is DRAMA FILLED! it was almost giving Real Housewives wives. As much as they hate each other and love to bicker they’re always going to have each other’s backs. Ride or die.
It all starts with a murder, and then another, and another… and another… and well you get the point.
Very fast paced who dun it. I mostly just loved the drama and how many storylines were going on at once. Everything was so intertwined. And the ending was shocking I did not see that coming at all. At the end of the day I really did enjoy this novel.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this in advanced in exchange for my honest opinion.

You May Now Kill the Bride by Kate Weston was the perfect sarcastic/tongue in cheek thriller to curl up with on this frigid weekend.
Life long friends are on their way to a hen-do (bachelorette) weekend when we are introduced to them. The bride Tansy's party is arranged by Saskia, who is a party planner and who is hoping this will elevate her to a be a great influencer online. Farah is busy planning her own wedding on the way to the weekend away, Dominica is working on a divorce case, Lauren is receiving texts from her ex-Joss and glaring at Eve, his new girlfriend, who he was set up with by Tansy. (how rude!)
Tansy is murdered pretty quickly and all of the bridesmaids are suspects. Through flashbacks, we revisit their past relationships with Tansy and each other and find out what holds them together isn't necessary friendship, but fear that someone may tell their secret.
I enjoyed the satire/sarcasm throughout the book and was genuinely surprised at the identity of the killer. I hope Lauren follows through with the new potential relationship and that she's going to continue her "take no shit" attitude. Good for her!
