I thought the plot of the book was good but it is hard for me to read in 3rd POV. I prefer to read in 1st POV.
I enjoyed this psychological thriller, although it’s the kind of story I normally wouldn’t read… I’m glad that I did as it’s a great page turner, that I couldn’t put down. I read it all in one day, it has plenty of twists and turns throughout with a surprising ending. The characters were intriguing, the story itself was so good and full of suspense and the style of writing was perfect.
This is the first book that I have read by either of these authors, I’ll be keeping my eye out for more in the future. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read this genre.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
An intriguing read from the start that will keep you guessing and unable to trust anyone. The pacing was a bit slow for the genre and content, but still a good read.
Grabbed my attention at the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down! A quick read that I finished in one day! It kept me guessing and wondering what was going to happen next. I did feel as if the plot dragged a bit but the ending made up for that!! Overall a great book!
This book was a great and quick read. With every turn of the page it had me wanting to know what next?! From Jessica Clarke’s U-Haul drive from NY to TX, the story had me fully intrigued. To finally get to your husband and child after a long, exhausting drive- and be told that you are a total stranger and you see someone has taken your place, in your home and your family is more than anyone can handle! You have been REPLACED! Now what?! A gripping story of what a woman goes through to take back what belongs to her!
This is such a clever thriller and really kept me guessing. What were the motives? Who could be trusted? It’s so detailed and well written that every unlikely twist seems entirely plausible. Loved it!
This ARC had me hooked from the first chapter! I could not figure this out until about halfway through. This story was really different than any other suspense book I’ve read before, which was a nice change and had me hooked! The ending seemed to end a little quicker than I would have liked, but it did end perfectly! It just seemed abrupt with how long it took to build up the story, the ending didn’t feel like it had enough detail and just felt a little rushed. I’m definitely going to be checking out other books by these authors! I would highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sterling & Stone for providing this book, with my honest review below.
Replaced was a great thriller! I honestly didn’t know whose side to take in things initially and even after it became clear I wasn’t sure how things could get resolved or how the main plot point came to be.
We follow Jessica Clarke as she heads from NYC to Dallas in a Uhaul, exhausted after the long trip and eager to be reunited with her husband, Dave, and their newly adopted baby. When she gets to her new home her keys don’t work and the door is answered by what could be her twin, also Jessica Clarke, and her husband. Is Jessica (the original one) crazy? And if she isn’t, how could this possibly happen, and how can she resolve things?
I love reading about resourceful and clever protagonists versus those who have the readers screaming at them for their (fictional) stupidity and this book fit the bill. We get to know both Jessicas quite well which enhanced the enjoyment (and mystery). My only critique is that due to some editing opportunities (which I feel justified mentioning as this has already been released) and the already confusing scenario of following two MCs with the same name, this got a little hard to follow at certain points in both dialogue and thought process when both were in the same scene.
Recommended for lovers of thrillers and mysteries, I haven’t read a book with this exact premise and I felt it done well. Kudos to both authors.
More like 3.5 ⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley for my ARC
I had mixed feelings about this book. It was immediately intriguing. I had to know how the authors would make this story work. For the most part it worked out nicely, but I did have several moments of confusion and misunderstanding. The plot seemed to go on a little too long for my preferences. I did like the way it concluded.
I would consider reading more from these authors in the future.
I loved this book! The ending was perfect. I stayed up all night to finish it! I didn’t quite understand the man’s motives or how no one noticed he spent decent chunks of time living in two places but all in all thought it was terrific
I'll start by warning you that once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down, so make time for this reading! Narrative from POV of Jess, Jessica and David, who are the main characters of this story. Imagine the following scenario... you meet the man of your life, marry him, adopt a baby and are about to move into a dream home in Dallas. David goes first with his baby daughter gwen to Dallas and Jessica is in charge of going right after them and leaving New York forever towards a dream life. The trip was bumpy and had several setbacks (including a huge accident on the highway where Jessica was traveling, which is extremely important for the development of the story) but she finally arrives at her new home, missing her daughter. He puts the key that David left for her in the door and nothing. Turns the key and turns it again and nothing. She knocks on the door, insists and ... Another woman appears, with carrying her baby and David says that he has never seen Jessica in his life, that he doesn't know her from anywhere, much less is he married to her. That he has always lived there with his wife Jessica Clarke and his recently adopted daughter Bella.
What the ... Jessica from now on is completely discredited in everything, no one believes her, and even the mysterious woman who has the same name as her and who was carrying her daughter , begins to have serious doubts if David doesn't know the Jessica who knocked on their door.
I'm just telling you that this is crazy, almost insane until the end, with twists and turns and secrets revealed and you can't stop reading until we finally know who these two women with the same name, married to the same man and with the same daughter, are. Why on earth was Jessica replaced by another woman, practically her Doppelgänger and with the same name?
I can only tell you that it ends well. Very well indeed. And it's really worth reading! I became a big fan!

This emotionally charged, psychological thriller & domestic drama needs to be on your TBR! What a great read start to finish- full of action and suspense from start to finish! I loved this one for the pace and the cast of characters. A great page turner!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sterling & Stone for a copy of this ARC!
The cover pulled me into wanting to read this book as well as the description.
The very first page had you hooked and wanting to continue to read. To me this makes the book when it pulls you in from the beginning. I just do not concept how a man can deceive two women at the same time for years over years just amazing. The women looked exactly alike and they both wanted kids but both could not have kids.
The characters were likeable as well as at times aggravating and made me wanted to throw the book at times. This makes and excellent book and read.
This should be on your TBR. Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
Well, this is an exceptional book. It gripped me right from the start with a compelling story and held on even tighter throughout the remainder of the story. I finished it within 24 hours, forgoing my self-imposed curfew and navigating through a dead cell phone trying desperately to get just enough juice in it to continue reading.
I give it 5 stars for that alone.
The authors are superb at storytelling and laying out just enough foundation to build multiple scenarios on. There were many ways the story could have unfolded at each new turn or reveal. There were so many questions running through my head as I was reading and it was definitely a keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller/mystery. Just as another clue was uncovered, it seemed as though another question or series of questions popped up. Superb!
Who do we feel sorry for? Who is the victim? Are there multiple victims? Is it one or multiple ill-intentioned people or misunderstanding? Is one or more crazy? Who is lying? Who do I root for? Who do I feel sorry for? Who do I hate? and so on.
It is definitely emotionally charged and I could easily find myself in the main character, Jess' shoes, being so excited to hold the baby she'd longed for and "won" through adoption, completely leaving everything behind and starting over in a new place with a new life and family, then to have it yanked out from under her and flipped completely on its head.
There were some actions of Jess that I thought were insane/irrational for her to pull off and made me cringe, like the breaking and entering, that also lends some credence to whether or not she's crazy/mentally unstable OR if she's in her right and empowered to fight back against someone trying to manipulate her.
Reading the story of the two Jessicas and David felt like a rollercoaster ride. Some of it was gory and intense, especially the beginning fatality/crash on the highway.
There are some bits of crass language that I didn't feel was necessary. I would have preferred that to not be included, but it didn't derail from the story.
In spite of some heavy, dark, and intense parts, there were also threads of humanity and kindness throughout the story, particularly with the waitress at the diner, that helped to balance out the story, in my opinion.
I thought it wrapped up nicely with a kind of warped happy ending. I felt it made sense for the characters and was probable the most ideal given a crazy situation. All of my questions got answered in the end making it a satisfying read that I could feel okay closing the book on.
This would make an amazing movie to watch.
I will definitely add this to my re-read shelf to come back to in a few years and enjoy the story again. Well done!

All my opinions are my own.
This book was a no go for me. I liked the idea of this book, but once I started reading I was struggling to get through it. It made no sense a lot of the time, and also the age and what the baby was doing made no sense at all.
I liked the ending though, but other than that I would not recommend.

First and foremost, huge thanks to both authors for granting NetGalley members the opportunity to review this ARC!
The concept of identity explored in "Replaced" immediately drew me in. The first half of the book was gripping and filled with suspense. However, I found some middle chapters to be a bit lacklustre, as they seemed to contribute minimally to the overall plot. Despite typically not being a fan of multiple POVs, particularly in the third person, I found it effective in this case. I breezed through the book in just a few sittings. The conclusion was brilliant, and despite the absence of romance, the strong bond between the girls was incredibly heartwarming. Who needs romance when you have such fantastic bonds with your best friend and your "replacement"? *wink wink*
Additional feedback:
- In chapter 36 when Jess was arrested and taken to the hospital, the Dr surname kept changing.. some lines mentioned "Dr Clark" and some said "Dr Clake"
- In chapter 47, it was mentioned that "...Peter was trying to find a hitman to off me...". I think that was supposed to mention David.
This book was crazy from beginning to end in the best way! I could not stop reading the last half because I was so curious to see how the story played out. All of my questions were answered by the end of the book which I like. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I think I'm officially over domestic thrillers... I was intrigued by the premise but the delivery lost me early on. It felt over the top, even by the standards of the genre, and there were inconsistencies and plot holes that didn't help. The characters felt like stereotypes and I just couldn't connect with them or the plot. This one wasn't for me.
