Exposed is the second book in this series, but it can stand on its own (with brief mentions of a couple from the first book). Beth and Eric’s story has multiple tropes- military, protector, brother’s friend- with some mystery and thriller thrown in. There was a point about 50% of the way in that I contemplated not finishing as things seemed stagnant, but I’m glad I pushed through (because I really wanted to know what was going on on this island of love!).
Thanks NetGalley for the book to review- I’m looking forward to Book 3!
Those one just wasn't for me.
Almost no suspense.
Almost no emotional connection.
Major plot holes that make no sense.
And a two-paragraph stand-off at the end.
Eric is on medical leave from the Seal’s and is asked by a fellow Seal to look into his sister at her work. Deciding he has nothing better to do he goes to her place of employment instead of watching TV. Beth Williams is a reporter who has just found out that the person who was to go with her on the assignment is hurt and can’t go. Now on top of that, her brother has sent someone to look after her or see if she is okay. Instead, she asks if he would be her partner for the assignment that she wants to do, which is pretending to be a couple with problems on an island, she believes the man running it is doing something illegal. This was a good and quick easy read with good characters and a good ending that also had the characters from book one. A good story.
thankyou netgalley for the arc. all opinions are my own!
this is my first time reading a book by leslie north and wow, what a ride!! it wasn't too long, nor too surprising, yet i was hooked throughout!! beth and eric were so hot together, their chemistry was shimmering through the pages. i was drawn in since the start and it had me holding my breath, rooting for them till the very end!
overall, this was such a good, fast paced, action packed book that i had the thrill of reading!
