Wow.
Just wow. Enemies to lovers. Hate sex. Multiple balls and gowns. Magic. Romance. Backstabbing. Sisterhood. Basically Mr. Darcy but hotter and with magic.

Literally everything you might want in a book wrapped into one. I laughed. I cried. I need a physical copy. I thoroughly enjoyed and I hope you do too.

Addison and Feylin will forever have a special place in my heart.

Addison comes from a family of witches and yet never received her powers so she lives in the human world with her boyfriend until her Nana dies and she goes back home and meets Feylin while she's there.

I loved the entire relationship dynamic that these characters have along with each of theirs family dynamic. There's just enough of it to where it doesn't feel forced.

Definitely an unexpected plot twist towards the end with Addison and Zandra. The resolution was absolutely worth it in the end.

“How To Fake It With a Fae,” by Amy Boyles

Addison Thornrose is the only one in her witch family without any magic. Struggling to find her place in life when everything starts to go wrong; her boyfriend breaks up with her, she is forced to start searching for a man to marry and then accidently gets locked into a magical marriage bargain with Feylin, King of the Fae. They agree to pretend to go through with the marriage while they find out how to break the marriage spell.

I was expecting the standard romcom, but it had way more darkness and conflict and more of a mixture of the best love stories. It’s a mix of Bridgerton, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Pride & Prejudice but with Fae and witches. I was sucked into the book immediately and there was no part of the book where I was bored or anything. 5 out of 5 stars, can’t wait to read more books by Amy Boyles.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was cute and quirky and kind of predictable. However, it was just lacking something that I can't fully put my finger on.

At first, I fully related to Addison and her inner dialogue. She had me laughing because the way she was thinking and going in circles is exactly what I do in my own head. But as the book progressed it just started to seem kind of immature for a 29 year old. I stopped being able to fully connect with her.
I loved Feylin. I mean, who doesn't love a dark haired broody Fae king? His backstory was built out well and I loved seeing how his connection truly built for Addison as the book went on.

The world building was lacking for me. The power structure and the ceremonies were confusing. However, I did enjoy that it was based in current/"real" world - literally in Tennessee and not in some made up land that we can't pronounce. It makes all our hopes and dreams that Fae are real feel just a little more tangible LOL. I also loved the idea of the magical bookshop. Who wouldn't want to be dropped into their favorite book to play around for a few hours?

My official rating is 2.5 stars. The writing was not bad and I think I would still read the other books in this series so I can learn more about each sister!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

How to Fake it With a Fae was a fun read that made me mad when it ended because I am ready for the next in the series and I have to wait.

Addie is a witch who hasn't found her magic yet, so she has left her hometown in TN to live amongst mortals and shares her gift of finding JUST the right book for them. She thinks that her boyfriend is going to propose because he has planned a big dinner in a fancy restaurant, but he's doing this to break up with her in a public place so she won't cause a scene. She's transported back to her hometown in an emergency situation and lands at the feet of someone and puke's on his shoes. It's the King of the fae, Faylin.

Faylin wants revenge on Addie's family and he finds himself in a position to get this revenge, with some added complications he wasn't looking for.

Addie and Faylin's situation (trying not to give away plot points) and Addie finding herself and her magic are wove together in a story that made me want more. It was easy to empathize with Addie during her moments of self doubt and I felt her triumph at overcoming what she considered failings. I enjoyed the secondary characters, can't wait for the continuation of the storyline and I am going back to find this author's other books.

This book had an interesting concept that intrigued me from the start, I love supernatural/magic based rom-coms, plus the adorable eye catching cover was interesting as well!

The first bit of the book was a little difficult to follow, it jumped around quickly and since this is the first book of what looks to be a series of 7 (for each sister I am assuming) there was a lot of background information and characters to quickly learn.

The book overall was well written, however the world building lacked some important details and I found the main character hard to relate to. It was unfortunately one of the times where I loved the concept of the book but the execution just didn't connect for me. I feel like the pacing was off at some parts and the love story was unfortunately unbelievable to me. I was looking for more of a cozy close family rom-com with adorable enemies to lovers banter and some fun magic plot lines/conflict.

Since this is only the first book in the series I will continue to read the next one as I was intrigued for future books through the rest of the characters!

The book started great, but then I think it lost itself along the way. I felt like it dragged on for way too long and needlessly.
I know that I wanted more magic than what I unfortunately got. The chemistry between Feylin and Addie was lacking, I couldn't feel the sparks.

Overall, it was a nice and light read, the plot could've used a bit more work and grounding, and the characters themselves weren't very well thought out.

How To Fake It With a Fae by Amy Boyles

This is the first book in Amy's new 'Seven Suitors for Seven Witches' series and was such a fun introduction to the series. If you love a fun romantic comedy, mixed with magic you will definitely love this. It gave me beauty and the beast vibes which is always a good thing. Also have you seen the cover? It's very beautiful.

How To Fake It With a Fae
by Amy Boyles
Book 1 of Seven Suitors for Seven Witches

This sounded like such a fun idea and the cover immediately drew me in. The colours are super pretty, girly, but also kind of mysterious.

Addison Thornrose is a book lover through and through. The person she has not found the perfect book for is yet to come. But that’s the only thing that matches in her life, relationships? It that much. And here comes the twist, if Addison does not marry, her witch powers will be gone, POOF!

Then we have the king of the Fae, Feylin. All he wants in life is revenge on the Thornrose family. When said family holds an old fashioned ball to marry off Addison, he sees his chance.
Come as it must, neither of them see feelings coming from a mile away, as well as as ancient fae magic binding them together.

Recipe for disaster?

This had everything you need to make this fun! I loved the idea of the story. It’s nothing that invents the wheel again, but it had its perks. Lots of fun characters and the world building was ok. I may have wished for a faster pace.

My problem was that I could not really relate to the characters at all. Just didn’t click for me. This was a great idea with some executional flaws. A nice and cozy read without big expectations. So I guess this was average to me.

Wow, I was not ready for how much I enjoyed this book! 💞

Addison is the eldest of seven daughters in the Thornrose family. Her family runs a magical bookshop that allows people to travel inside their favorite novel. Unfortunately, out of every witch in her family she is the only one without magic. She’s been living in a human city for years but gets called back home after a tragedy strikes the family. Now herself and her sister must all marry in order to save their magic. When Addie accidentally gets engaged to a stranger, they decide to fake their engagement for both of their benefits.

Feylin, king of the fae, has one goal, to protect his kind. After getting engaged to a witch, he knows there’s something more to their connection than just fake dating. As they both continue to pretend, it somehow becomes more. Unfortunately, Feylin is keeping secrets that could destroy them both.

This book was seriously so good! The buildup in Addie’s and Feylin’s relationship was so good. The world building and setting for the story wasn’t necessarily new, but really well done! This is definitely a slow burn romance with mild spice towards the end.

This is the first book in the series and I cannot wait for the next sister’s book after that twist ending!

I really enjoyed this, I stayed up way to late as I couldn’t put it down. The first time Addison & Feylin see each other will forever be my favourite meet! It was adorable funny and crazy. Addison was such a sweetheart a witch without powers first born of 7 daughters. She had such a hard time but she’s always positive and happy. Feylin king of fae and guardian to his 10 year old cousin. Their relationship was my favourite sweet and innocent. Addison and Feylin are so perfect together but the past is going to get in the way and Feylin completely rips my heart out real tears devastation. He does come through with the loveliest apology. I was on a rollercoaster of emotions, The whole book was about family, love, happiness, magic and books!!! I’m so excited to find out more about each sister In their own story I need them now.

This book is the first in a series and the premise really appealed to me. We've got a witch who has no magic, although she comes from a powerful magical family, and she has to marry to strengthen that family magic. \Enter the Fae King who has some questionable motives when he and the witch become 'fake engaged'.
I got a little confused with how this fake arrangement was supposed to benefit either party in the long run but I didn't sweat the details too much.

But the plot wasn't the only thing that felt flimsy to me.

I couldn't really get a handle on the main characters. There's a point when Feylin tells Addison she has to return to his castle with him, and one of the questions she asks is, 'will there be servants?'

I couldn't figure out if this was meant to be a joke, some kind of dig at his pompous behaviour or if she was making sure there would be someone to do her bidding.

Addison is empathetic and generous at times and, at others, callous and dismissive. Her family seem strangely uncommunicative for people who are meant to be close.

Feylin's character is slightly easier understand. He is conflicted in his plans and feelings for Addison. Even so, sometimes he acts without logic, purely on instinct, which seems strange for a leader. In saying that, the chapters written from his point of view were more enjoyable for me.

The story moves pretty slowly until the third act conflict which was so avoidable I threw my hands in the air. At that point my 'just go with it' had run out.

I get that this is fantasy romance and there will be unbelievable elements to the story but the characters and their motivations were just too hard for me to connect with.

While this book didn't strike a chord with me, fans of fantasy romance, perhaps new adult readers, may enjoy it.
