This is part of the Dark Olympus series, intertwining modern romance with Olympian politics. The story, centering around Eurydice Dimitriou, delves into her journey from heartbreak to newfound love with Charon Ariti, Hades's right-hand man. Adding Orpheus Makos to their dynamic adds complexity, showcasing a modern twist on Greek mythology. The story boldly explores love, degradation, and atonement themes, mainly through Orpheus's character arc. As she asserts herself in love and politics, Eurydice's development is particularly engaging. While the novel intriguingly modernizes mythological elements, its abrupt ending left me yearning for more. It's a captivating addition to the series, though it strays from traditional mythological paths.

Katee Robert has once again written a compelling and engaging romance. I do think this book lacked some of the urgency of the previous books and definitely didn’t propel the plot forward at all, but it was a fun read and gave some of the characters we’ve already seen in the series their moment in the spotlight.
Each character felt well rounded and three dimensional, and I think that will help the rest of the series where they’re sure to pop up more.
I’m interested how the rest of the books will stack up now that the overarching plot is moving faster, but this book definitely fell into the standalone part of ‘interconnected standalones’ as I feel it could be removed from the series without actually affecting the plot much.
Still a great read and I can’t wait to read more from Katee as she is one of my favourite authors.

Do not recommend reading out of order. Although this is the first book I’ve read in the series and had a bit of trouble getting the story straight I was captivated. Once I understood the dynamics of the story I could not be stopped. Going to go read the series in order now.

Something about this one felt very repetitive. I enjoy this series, but this one did not really feel new at all.

I've loved all of the Katee Robert books I've read. There are some that are more fun for me and then some I just like. This one is perfect for those who love second-chance romances and polyamory books. I am a broken person who does not like second-chance romances on average; however, I appreciate Midnight Ruin and its ability to not only make Orpheus pay for his sins but also show him the love in growing together. Don't miss this because the big plot is PLOTTING!

2/5 Stars
This is the second book I’ve read within this series. I think the basic plot is interesting, but the writing could use some work.
Some things I enjoyed:
The female narrator’s voice: I thought she did a great job voicing Eurydice and embodied the character very well.
The secondary plot: The behind-the-scenes story about what is happening in Olympus is really interesting and I wish the author had focused on this a bit more.
The thruple representation: I always love a why choose narrative, but I liked that the focus was on all three characters falling for each other and not just the two guy characters falling for the girl while the girl can have her cake and eat it too.
Things I did not love:
The writing: The writing in this book (and the series) is sub par in my opinion. I feel like they are quickly written and poorly edited. I found myself listening and constantly thinking, “This would have sounded much better if it had been phrased another way.” I get that the books are not meant to be incredible works of art and are for the sole purpose of entertainment, but a little rewording could go a long way into making these books more enjoyable,
The male narrators: Ok… I don,t know what is is, but the way the male narrator talks and specifically says the word “baby” gives me the ick. One character (Orpheous) sounded like Stevie from Family Guy and I could not take them seriously after that. The other voice was deeper (Charon), but almost trying too hard to be more manly. The male voices just weren’t working for me in this book.
In the end, the book was just ok for me. I am liking the interconnection of the series and how the secondary plot continues to move forward throughout the books so that may keep me reading, but these are not books I will be rushing to preorder or purchase.

a fine addition to the series. I was more interested in the background plot than then romance though.

Midnight Ruin by Katee Robert is the 6th book in her Dark Olympus Series. It was a 3.5 star read for me. I would highly start from the beginning of the series. I have not read any of the other book yet, and could tell that there was some important background information that I was missing. They do glance on some of the bigger topics, but not enough to fully understand. This book has a lot of spice, but I just wanted to get to know the characters a little more. They felt fairly flat. The narrators do a fairly good job. I can sometimes struggle with accents, but they held my attention.
Eurydice Dimitriou starts off very sheltered, grieving the loss of her ex, and under the thumb of her family. Currently she is under the protection of her sister, Persephone, and brother in law, Hades. Charon has been tasked to watch after her and ends up falling in love. He will do anything to please her, even inviting her ex, Orpheus, back into the city so that she can get some closure. Eurydice slowly finds her voice and acknowledges her wants and needs, and one of those is to have both of these men in her life. They are both more than willing. In the background of the story there is unease with the different Gods and someone is trying to bring them all down.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the copy of the audiobook. All opinions are my own. #KateeRobert #MidnightRuin #NetGalley #DreamscapeMedia

Midnight Ruin-Dark Olympus #6
By Katee Roberts-I've read all books in this series and A Deal With A Demon
Narrated by: Zara Hampton-Brown & Alex Moorcock-both have done all other books-were great again
Run time 🏃🏾♀️ : 9:03
Page count📖 : 316 kindle
Publication date: 1-16-24 , read 2-9-24
Rating: 4/5 ⭐
Spice level 4/5 🌶️
🤷🏾♀️WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ 2nd chance romance
✨ love triangle
✨ erotica
✨ Greek mythology
✨ secret pregnancy(not h)
✨ LGBTQIA+
⚠️: BDSM, abortion(not h), murder, polyamorous triad
Summary: Eurydice, the youngest daughter of Demeter, is healing her broken heart. Nine months ago she broke up with the selfish, narcissistic, life of the party-Orpheus. He is on an apology tour and just wants to talk to Eurydice. Charon is Hades right-hand man in the lower city where Eurydice is staying with her sister Persephone and her husband Hades. Charon and Eurydice are attracted to each other but she's not ready for new relationship yet. Will she forgive Orpheus and get back together or try something new with Charon?
Characters:
- 🚺 FMC Eurydice Dimitriou
-🚹 MMC Orpheus Makos
-🚹MMC Charon Ariti
🥰 What I liked:
-Orpheus does some great groveling and apologizing to Eurydice. He strives to be a better man, no longer partying, and trying to get ahead.
-Why Choose? Eurydice and Charon hook up and Orpheus hangs in the background. Charon tells Eurydice he wants her as his "end game," and he'll take her anyway he can get her.
-The plan of Olympus's downfall finally exposed. The politics with the Thirteen and Olympus have been a plot point since book #1.
-The cameos from previous couples- Apollo (Orpheus's brother) with Cassandra, Hades and a pregnant Persephone, Helen/Ares with Achilles and Patroclus, and Calypso and Medusa-their story was a great novella.
😞 What I didn't like:
-The explicit sex scenes, but having read Roberts plenty of times, I knew the deal.
-The Olympus barrier collapse-that plot needed to progress quicker.
🤔My Thoughts: The main focus was the relationship between Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus. It's complicated but they can't deny the sexual chemistry they have. This book reminded me of Wicked Beauty with Helen/Achilles/Patroclus except that book had a lot more action.
🙏🏿Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ALC 💖! I voluntarily give my honest review and all opinions expressed are mine alone.

I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for a review
I wanted to love this. I did like it and enjoyed it but I think this, next to the 3rd book in the series is among my least favorites. I couldn't get invested in the characters at all sadly.

I swear I say this for every new dark Olympus book but this has got to be my favourite so far!!!!
The groveling, the puppy play, the relationship dynamics, the overall plot across the series and the perfect glimpse at past characters!!!!! SO FUCKING GOOD!!!

I have read a few books in this series and enjoyed this one. I thought the coupling was adorable and liked the development of each main character. The audio narration was good. It took me a bit to get into the voices.

My very first Katee Robert book was The Sea Witch and ever since I've had a soft spot for how Robert writes throuples. They always know how to find the balance between the three characters, and I really liked how that was pulled off here with Eurydice, Charon, Orpheus. They each brought something different to the table and to their relationship, and I enjoyed seeing each of them go on their own growth journey to get to a better place.
I love a good grovel in a romance, so I particularly enjoyed the dynamic with Orpheus needing to make up with Eurydice. Charon's role as a protector was one that fit the book so well (as both Eurydice and Orpheus really needed it at times) and I enjoyed the way that both Eurydice and Orpheus also looked out for Charon and took care of him when he needed. Eurydice I liked from her very first scene on the page, and seeing her really step into her desires was excellent.
My one critique is that there are a lot of characters and events at play at this part in the series, and I almost could use a 'Last Time in Dark Olympus' recap at the start of each book or better integration within the story to remind me of the importance of certain people or the weight of past events (especially since the books involve characters who are morally gray - so a character's actions in a previous book could be portrayed positively there, but be seen as negative through the eyes of a different character in a later book).
As always the narrators were excellent—looking forward to the next installment!

I should start by saying that I love Katee Robert and the Dark Olympus series, and they are basically auto-buys for me at this point. That being said, I thought this was definitely one of the best books in the series so far! The "love pyramid" with Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus was maybe a bit quickly-paced but I'm not mad because it was so hot. I was listening to the audiobook and I thought the narrators were wonderful. I also appreciated the fact that, even though I was listening to it at 1.25 speed, there was a sex scene that lasted at least 20 minutes. I was impressed. That is some dedication and detail!
As far as the plot, I enjoyed learning more about Eurydice, who had been in the background of previous books. She grew and became more independent throughout the story, which was great. I loved that Charon and Orpheus were such opposites, but they helped balance each other out. I enjoyed the friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance tropes worked into this story, too.
This story definitely moves the overall series plot forward with some big reveals. It is going to be interesting to see what happens next, given how this ended! So, while think this book could theoretically work as a standalone, a lot of the intrigue and political plot points would not make sense without having read the rest of the series.
And the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because I was desperate for an epilogue! I needed to know how the throuple was doing a month or year later. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed they will be in the next book to get that info.

Format: Audiobook
Rating: 4,3
I got this in exchange for an honest review.
Before I start, the narrators for this book are excellent. Top tier performance from both of them, I really love audiobooks, and the narrators can make or break a book.
As a polyamorous person, I'm always super excited about books that have non-monogamous rep, but to be honest I'm often disappointed in those books because I've found few authors manage to pull it off, and it tends to feel inauthentic to me. The previous book in this series didn't really speak to me, I felt like I didn't really connect with any of the characters and we didn't get enough time with any of them. Here we are back in form, and Katee manages to build these 3 characters up brilliantly, and we get insight into them all.
Eurydice is charming and multilayered, she has been put in a role her entire life, and has been playing along, but now that she finally wants to be someone else, something more, her family is reluctant to see her as anything other than the sweet, naive, "Good Girl". But Eurydice has fangs, and a need to claim her own power, to dominate.
Orpheus was a spoiled self centred boy, but he is more than that. He lost Eurydice due to his selfish actions, and is seeing his previous lifestyle for what it was. He truly does love Eurydice, and seeing what he lost he is willing to do anything to get back what he lost. Beg, grovel, subjugate himself. He needs to be punished and he knows it.
Charon is a Hades' right hand man, he has had to do hard things, sometimes be ruthless to serve the lower city. He's been Eurydices' protector and friend for a year now, and he's fallen hard. He needs that light in his life, he needs her. He's fallen hard, and he knows what he wants.... HER, and he is willing to do anything to be with her.
These three characters spin a web, and end up wound tightly together against the backdrop of the larger conspiracy happening in Olympus. This is definitely one of the better books in the series, and I'm sure I'll actually read this book again.
It's not quite perfect enough to get a 5 star rating, I would have liked it to be a bit longer. A bit more fleshed out, but it almost got there

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC.
Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock gave an amazing performance.
This story. Wow. I tell you what. It was dark and sexy and so much fun. I’m now more attracted to dark romance than rom coms.

I continue with this series because Katee Robert has hooked me in with her mysterious antagonist who has it out for Olympus. We finally get the answer in this book, but now I want to know what happens next. However, finding out this information was just a subplot to this story. It really is a second chance romance for Eurydice and Orpheus, and a love story between Eurydice and Charon (in other words they become a poly relationship).
I liked that we got to see both Eurydice and Orpheus grow as characters, she was able to find a new direction and no longer feel like a victim, and Orpheus realizing that he was a spoiled brat and a horrible person in the past.
I am looking forward to the other book in the series, as it should all come to a head.

This was my first time listening to a romance book and I am not disappointed! I honestly thought it would be harder to listen to but the two narrators really helped! I love this series and I feel like it just gets better as it goes.
After the last few books being incredibly intense and spicy, this one had a lot to live up to. But I am happy to say the spice was instant, setting the tone for the rest of the book.
These books are just such quick, delightful reads that are the perfect palette cleanser between more complex books. It definitely wasn't mind blowing but if you're not expecting that then it's great. Overall, pretty happy with this one.
Thank you to the publisher for the copy!

What a fun and steamy listen!!
This one mainly follows Eurydice and Charon on their journey to maybe be together but Eurydice still needs to work on her issues with her ex.
I really enjoyed the politics surrounding Olympus and the rest of the members and I truly appreciated that it also played a role with the characters. I’m very eager to see what happens next.
The narrators, Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock were the same narrators that have narrated the previous books and I was delighted to see that they also narrated this story. I have come to enjoy their voices and feel like they did a good job portraying the main characters as well as the secondary characters.

Midnight Ruin is the latest book in the Dark Olympus series and focuses on Eurydice, Orpheus, and Charon. Eurydice and Orpheus have been set up since the first book so I was excited to read their story, and see how Charon fitted into it!
I listened to the audiobook and loved the performances! I listened to the audiobook of Cruel Seduction and this one has the same narrators, who I thought did a great job. Definitely recommend the audiobook experience!
I think I'm the only person who reads these books for the plot and mostly skip over the spicy scenes (no shade, spice just isn't my thing!) I guess it's not even the plot, I just really like to see how Greek mythology is interpreted in a modern urban setting. As with the other books, I thought it were cool! I liked the Eurydice was in the Lower City for a long time (5 books) so it really felt like she had been in the underworld and away for Orpheus for a long time. We also got to see Medusa and Calypso, who were so far have only been in the prequel novella!
Other than that, I thought this book was just okay. It's probably one of my least favorites in the series, particularly because of the spice. As I said before, spice isn't really my thing, but in this book it REALLY wasn't my thing. I skipped over it so it didn't really impact my listening experience. It definitely made my work commutes more interesting than I was expecting!
Overall, if you have made it this far in the Dark Olympus series, you'll probably enjoy this book! 3 stars from me. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the electronic advanced reader's copy of this book, my thoughts are my own!
