Overall, Erni Vales has created a book that is a must-have for anyone fascinated by urban artistry and the power of creativity to transcend conventional norms. Erni Vales has masterfully curated an extraordinary collection that celebrates the ingenuity and cultural significance of 3D street art.
3D Street Art: Off the Walls is a fascinating and well curated look at many (many!) different 3D graffiti artists and their art, written by Erni Vales. Due out 20th Feb 2024, it's 128 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.
This is such an attractive and engaging book. The author is an artist, and speaks from a place of respect and knowledge about the evolution of 3D street art and the artists who have embraced the illusion of depth and dimension in their work.
The books chapters feature a background, information, and gallery profile for 14 well known graffitists including commentary on their working methods and artistic vision, and lots of color photos of each artist's work. They're all stunning, but some of them are truly amazing; just the *scale* of some of the work is mind-blowing (whole huge apartment blocks in a few cases).
Five stars. Definitely one for public or school library acquisition, home use, artist studios, and possibly more formal instruction/curriculum.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
I was over the moon to receive this eArc kindly given by NetGalley, IPG and Erni Vales as this is a sub-Genre of art that I have been ardently watching grow and evolve for decades. No longer is it "just" graffitti, it is legitimately a form of art and Vales has collated the best there is
The last street art books I bought were RackGaki by Ryo Sanada and Peel by Dave and Holly Combs and the reason I mention these, is because I don't feel s if a compendium of talents has caght my eye since, until now
I was delighted to see work by Astro, Cee Pil, Daim and Leon Keer, but interspersed with this established artists were some incredible talents I had not seen before, most notably for me were Peeta and Lady Pink, but all of the pieces featured in this volume are outstanding and visually stunning
The book has been collated very well, the layout is fantastic and the bio's are on point. An absolute gem for art lovers and an essential piece for collectors of art history

Great coffee table book! Erni Vales showcases about a dozen graffiti/street artists, each with their own particular style. There is a two page description of each artist's distinct style before showing amazing examples of their work. Erni gives his opinions and heaps praise on each artist which shows how much he respects and esteems them, but I would have loved a brief bio about each one as well. The works are outrageously ambitious but very well executed, and show not just talent but huge skill to pull off on such a large scale. Loved It!
My husband's cousin in the UK had started tagging in the 1980's and he was fortunate enough to turn it into a career for 4 decades. I'm awed by the work, time and effort that must go into one mural.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
