Adorable. Creepy. Sweet. Crazy. Ghosts. Killers. Dogs Barking. Love Sparking....

Just a few words I'd use to describe this book!

Liz Talbot is at it again. She's a PI in a small southern town and she's just been contacted by a beautiful, Marilyn Monroe lookalike. But that's only the beginning. This woman was born 50 years after the original, to the date and time, exactly.
Is this a coincidence? What's really going on here??

You'll have to read it to find out!

Just know that Liz is one of the main characters, trying to investigate exactly what is going on.
Calista is another MC. She is the Marilyn lookalike. And she's scared to death that she is going to turn up dead, just like Marilyn did, on the same date...50 years later...

The scenery can be FELT in this book, as well as the small town vibes, love, sweetness, and so much more!
Also, keep in mind that Liz's brother is on the Police Force (although a small one) and her PI partner is a hot, smooth guy...

Then add in all the extras in the book, and you have quite the assortment of characters to try to figure out the “whodunnit” in this one!

Charming, right until the end!

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

Thanks to #NetGalley, #DreamscapeSelect and #StellaMarisBooks, LLC for an ARC of the audiobook which releases on 1/26/24.
I’m guessing the audiobook is being released now, as the book came out in 2013.

An interesting take on the cosy mystery genre, in that the victim was still alive. I enjoyed the exploration of the various conspiracy theories that surrounded the death of Marilyn Monroe whilst Liz investigated Callista, whose life has so far echoed that of Marilyn. There was a touch of romance, perhaps not as much humour as I would have wished for, but a very interesting plot line. The southern setting was great and this was very much enhanced by the narration. Although it’s the second in the series, I didn’t feel lost by not having read the previous book.

🎧3.5-3.75⭐️ which I’ve rounded up

No 2 in the Liz Talbot Mystery series

I had the audiobook narrated by Tiffany Morgan. I didn’t gel with the narrator, I struggled with the accent (sorry it’s not one that I enjoy listening to)

This is my first book by this author.
Calista McQueen is a dead ringer for Marilyn Monroe, and so far her life has echoed the events in Marilyn’s but she’s coming up to the date and big anniversary of her death, which is thought to have been made to look like suicide. Calista approaches Liz to try and stop a repeat of history.

It’s an easy quirky listen, surely a hit for Monroe fans, as a lot of her history and story is revealed in a modern day setting. I didn’t know anything of note about her life. It’s quite an imaginative plot line. There’s a romance thread alongside it, that doesn’t include sex scenes.

One bit made me smile as having left the dog home alone over night there was mention of feeding kibble, but no mention of letting it out for ablutions a puddle on the floor😂 I think that’s just the animal owner in me.

The cover made me think that it was going to be a much lighter more fun read, it is in fact a serious mystery with a unique angle, it was the MM connection which encouraged me to go for it. It took me a long time to settle into it, but I enjoyed it in the end. It had some interesting twists and turns. I’m not the biggest fan of the writing style and I found the dialogue somewhat stilted so I don’t think I’d read others in the series.

I really enjoyed my first audiobook of this series. The plot and characters are spot on ( as usual) and the narrator is perfect!

Such a fun cozy murder mystery story (set in the south), with an interesting premise- the victim is still alive. Our main protagonist, Liz, is a PI with a new client, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike who believes her life is a parallel to Marilyn's, meaning her death is inevitable.

This book has a lot of suspense, twists, A LOVE TRIANGLE, and murderrrrrrrr. I did have the bad guy pegged very early on, but I don't think that took away from the story at all. Chapter after chapter I was engaged throughout the whole story.

I found the way that Susan Boyer took the conspiracy theories surrounding Marilyn Monroe's life and death and turned it into this story extremely fascinating and whole lot of fun!

I haven't read the other books in this series, but I definitely will be now.

Susan Boyer's Lowcountry Bombshell in audio form offers a delightful experience, bringing the Southern charm of the Lowcountry to life. The narrator captures the essence of the characters along with the book’s witty and suspenseful tone. The intriguing mystery and engaging narration makes this novel the perfect choice for those seeking a blend of humor, mystery, and a touch of romance.

Premise - Liz’s newest client is a wealthy Marilyn Monroe lookalike who thinks someone is out to kill her. Is she right, or is she crazy? Set against a charming Southern backdrop, this murder mystery was a fun twist on the standard (in that the primary victim is still alive). The other twist is the involvement of a ghost/guardian spirit, which wasn’t for me, but others may enjoy.

I haven’t read the others in the series, but Liz is well enough developed that this works as a standalone. It was an enjoyable, if not particularly memorable, murder mystery.
