A creepy, too good to be true inheritance has one New York City couple regretting their surprise new apartment in a swanky building with a dark past. This was a great mashup of Ruth Ware and Fiona Davis's styles that gave me chills. Good on audio too but not a new fav by this author, just a solid, entertaining read, if not one that blew me away. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book was my least favorite of Lisa Unger's works. Surprisingly, it took me longer than expected to become engaged in the story. However, I found that listening to the audiobook was more enjoyable than reading the Kindle version. Vivienne Leheny's performance as the narrator was excellent. The premise of the book was promising, and it reminded me of the series "Only Murders In The Building". Although the story was entertaining enough to keep it moving, the plot was overdone. Additionally, I felt that the author could have delved more into the building's history and the chapters from the past. I also wish that more supernatural elements were incorporated into the story. Despite this, I enjoyed the story's creepiness and look forward to reading more of Lisa Unger's books.

Thank you to NetGallery and to both Harlequin Trade Publishing and Harper Audio for giving a copy of the book.

Atmospheric and creepy - kept me on the edge of my seat, but I wouldn't listen at night! The narrator was wonderful and the story, gripping. I've not read a lot of Unger, but the ones I have didn't have this supernatural element. Not sure what I think about it. For those who don't mind a bit of mystery, go for it. For those, like me, who like to sleep at night with no fear of the unknown, go for it anyway! A great story and I was glad to have this preview and been able to read it before my reading partners!

This was a good audiobook production. I have no negative comments regarding the narrator, production or format. I did not care for the narrative. Perhaps I was not in the right mood for the genre but I did not like the writing style or any other characters.

This mystery/thriller had a great creepy vibe to it. I enjoyed the twisting storyline, the surprises, and the way the history of the building is woven into it all. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Audio for the ARC.
