This was a roller coaster. The author has a strong sense of voice and scene. There is enough tension to keep you racing through the pages. Though parts of it were a bit unrealistic I had such a good time with it, I'm giving it four stars and will read more by this author

The writing and pacing of the story was great. The characters were well developed, and we got to know them and all their flaws. The drama was tense, and certain parts had me on the edge of my seat...literally! A solid domestic suspense novel.

No surprises, in the beginning … The title of this book gives it away. Tori, the MC, has been struggling to have a baby due to medical issues. One day she is presented with an opportunity and she does the unthinkable. There’s a baby boy that needs a mom, his mother has drowned, and Tori comes to the rescue? The lies start to accumulate … there are a few people keeping secrets. There is a twist in the middle that I didn’t see coming, and catapulted the story to a new level. And then I got my favorite, the dual POV. This book was easy to read and kept me interested. It took lots of twists and turns. My 1st read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed.

The title of this book explains what happens in the first few pages of the book! No spoilers there! The main character, Tori, has been struggling to have a baby. One day she is presented with an opportunity and she does the unthinkable. And then the lies start to accumulate…

This book was easy to read and kept me interested. It took lots of twists and turns. I thought I had figured it out but about 60% through there was a twist that I did not see coming and the books shifts to be written in dual POV.

I really liked the ending of this book and when I put it down I breathed a sigh of relief for the characters. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This one wasn't on my #marchhopefuls but I was feeling a thriller and am so glad I threw this one in! Amazon describes The Baby I Stole by @mcgarveyblack1 as "an unputdownable psychological thriller with an astonishing twist" and I couldn't agree more!

Tori wants nothing more than to have a baby, but with her heart condition and other medical issues, her last hope is adoption. When she hears from the adoption agency that it will take longer than expected, and then suddenly she is presented with a baby whose mother suddenly drowned, the obvious answer is for Tori to take this baby and make him her own.

The twist though... it made this book. I enjoyed it all the way through, but the twist got me. I had a few wonderings about where things were headed, but it was not at all what I predicted. This book is super well written, very interesting and the perfect psychological thriller for when you need a quick reading palate cleanse like I did! It's out now so go grab a copy!

Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher @joffebooks for giving me the chance to read and review this awesome book! I will definitely be checking out others from this author and publisher!

This story really throws your emotions for a loop.

From the beginning of the story to the end, the story keeps you riveted to the fact the baby that was stolen was being loved and cared for, but the adults are all hiding something from each other.

I loved reading this book, it’s got to be one of the best ones that I have read this year.! It has plenty of twists and turns throughout, the suspense all the way through had me on the edge of my seat.. along with the brilliant unexpected ending. The characters were great, the story itself was amazing and the style of writing was perfect.
This is the first book that I have ever read by this author, I’ve already been on amazon to get others and I’ll be keeping my eye out for more in the future.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to read psychological thrillers.

WOW! This is a fast paced read full of drama and gripping. I couldn't stop reading this one. I just had to find out what happened! This book is full of secrets, lies, revenge, and twists and turns galore. Halfway through, I just knew I had it figured out, but I was definitely WRONG. I could've never guessed the ending.

From the first few pages I was hooked. The emotion you feel from the characters comes across so well and you feel for them. I was torn between wanting to know what happens next to not wanting what was about to happen to happen. I was so invested in the storyline and the character progression I cried.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this advanced reader copy of The Baby I Stole. While I was very intrigued with this plot and how this story would work out I felt as if it was very predictable. At about 30% I would say I had the rest of the book predicted and that felt very unexciting. I knew Eden was involved however I assumed she hired someone to play her in the beach scene. I wasn’t picturing makeup and Olympic type swimming. That felt unrealistic. I also didn’t plan on the car crash at the end. That felt abrupt. I also felt that the first 70% was very repetitive if the same few details of how Eden cares for Jonah and Tori’s poor health conditions. That could’ve been cut down a lot.

This was definitely a fast paced psych thriller with great twists, and a character you want to hate but can’t help liking. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

The baby I stole by McGarvey Black.
My husband and I were desperate for a baby. So I stole one. All my adult life, I’ve longed for a baby. We tried IVF. We tried everything. Now we’re waiting to adopt. We have a beautiful home and all the love in the world to give a child. But we’re told it will take years. Then one day, at Rocky Point Beach, one thing leads to another. I make a split-second decision — and I come home with a baby. He has tiny red bow lips and the chubbiest cheeks. He’s gorgeous. I call him Jonah. Now what happens when my husband gets home? When you want something so badly . . . you might do the wrong thing.
I did enjoy this book. Although a little slow at first I soon got into it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. I didn't have a favourite. I certainly didn't see that twist coming. I was on the edge of my seat. Omg. Double twist. I was mindblown with the ending. Wow. 4*.

Such an exciting and twisty thriller! Had me hooked from the very start. It was a very quick and enjoyable read with an amazing ending. I’m so excited to see what other books the author comes out with!

'The Baby I Stole' is a twisty thriller surrounding Tori, who, absolutely desperate to become a mother sees an opportunity one day at the beach and steals a baby. The story focuses on Tori's need to keep her theft a secret from everyone, including her not-very-successful actor husband, Daniel and their nanny, Eden.

If you're a Frieda McFadden fan you will love this book! It is fast-paced and each chapter wants you craving more. I'm also proud to say I worked one of the twists for the first time ever...however fell short at discovering the others.

Thank you to Netgalley, Joffe Books and McGarvey Black for the opportunity of reading this novel.

Tori and her husband Daniel have always wanted a baby but for many reasons hasn’t happened until one day there is the perfect opportunity. Tori steals a baby at the beach when Sasha asks her to watch her baby while she goes for a swim. She tells Daniel the adoption agency called and had a baby available that day! Tori has to manage telling lies to her family while being blackmailed about the baby. Will she get away with it? Will she get caught? This book is full of unexpected twists with a shocking ending. I was hooked from the title of this book and it was a very fast read.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffee books for the ARC.

Tori has wanted to be a mother for as long as she can remember. She has gone through the IVF process, but so far it has not worked. So, when she as at the beach one day and happens to come into the hands of a baby, she makes the decision to steal the baby and name him Jonah. Tori lies to her husband and parents, informing them that the adoption agency reached out with a last minute adoption. As the novel unfolds, we see how Tori manages with her secret. Will all the lies catch up with her?

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller. It was overall an enjoyable read. I did feel like I had read a similar story before, which is probably why I guessed some of the turns. I did guess where the plot was going - but even with that, it did not take away from my joy of reading this novel. Plus, another twist was added to the twist that I guessed, so I felt the book redeemed itself there for me. The ending fell a little flat for me. I think more could have been done/further details could have been flushed out. Nonetheless, still a great read.

This was my first read by this author and definitely will not be my last!
