Tori and her husband are desperate for a baby and one day on the beach Tori takes the opportunity to have a baby of her own. She steals a baby. The story held my attention throughout and I couldn't take my eyes away from the pages. I was shocked by the final twist which totally blew me away. The premise of the plot is how far we will go to keep and protect our children. It's a very fast paced and demanding plot that I delighted in despite the fact that none of the characters were likeable apart from the baby of course, the plot is delicious and I deeply appreciated it.

The Baby I Stole is the second book I’ve read by McGarvey Black. None of her books disappointed me. Tori was desperate for a baby to complete a family with husband (Daniels)- A struggling actor.

When the opportunity presents itself, Tori was determined to be a mother. One day at the beach, she became a Mom. She lied to both her parents & husband. Tori’s health and mental state has taken a turn. Daniel is hiding something. The new nanny is strange but great with baby Jonah. The lies are building. This book is an example of how far people are willing to take things to get what they want.

Thanks NetGalley & Joffee books for my ARC.

Tori and her husband Daniel want a baby, but for many reasons, mainly Tori’s health and now her age, this hasn’t happened and fertility doctors doubt very much that it will. The married couple are on the adoption waiting list however the wait is a long one and Tori is desperate for a baby. So when the opportunity presents, Tori steals one.

One fateful day when Tori meets Sasha at the beach and she is asked to keep an eye on her baby Liam while she goes for a swim, however when panic arises as Sasha seems to have been dragged under by the current Tori takes her baby and tells herself she will give him the perfect life whilst also saving him from a life in the care system.

Tori’s family are made up when she tells them a baby came up for adoption earlier than planned, however Tori finds herself trapped in a web of lies which only seems to get bigger and bigger. Soon Tori starts receiving threatening messages, clearly someone out there knows what she has done and her lies could all be revealed.

I really enjoyed reading the baby I stole, it was easy to read and I enjoyed the story line, however by the half way point I had sussed out most of the story line, and barring the last couple of chapters I was spot on with the direction this book was going.

I like to be proved right as much a I love surprises, but I did find this book a little too predictable, however I did really like and enjoy that very last twist right at the end, I didn’t see that one coming at all and I do love a shocker of a twist.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.

I grabbed this book instantly based on the title and book description. I was instantly hooked on this storyline and though I was right about all of my heart sinking suspicions, this was a very enjoyable read. I would definitely read more from this author.

Full of surprises!

Tori and her husband are desperate for a baby; however, she has a mountain of medical issues and the doctors have advised against any more IVF but the longing just won't go away. Then one day when she's at the beach, a young mother asks her to mind her baby while she has a quick swim in the ocean - and she doesn't come back. Tori makes the split-second decision to take the baby home with her, telling her husband that the adoption people phoned unexpectedly. Will she get away with it?

This is a riveting read. I always enjoy this author's books and this one had me gripped all the way through. Did I see it coming? Certainly not! I had an inkling about a little part but the whole twist just blew me away! did, however, foresee issues which weren't addressed in the book, but I do tend to be a bit pedantic. A stunning read and one I'm happy to recommend. 4.5*.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley;; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

Tori meets Sasha and her adorable infant son on the beach one day. After a nice long chat, Sasha asks Tori to watch her son as she takes a quick swim. When a commotion happens on the beach, Tori realizes that Sasha must have drowned, she doesn't think twice about taking the baby. Tori has wanted nothing more than to be a mother, but with her serious health issues, it isn’t possible for her. She thinks of this as a sign for her to be a mother to this child. Tori's husband and parents are ecstatic about this new family member, but Tori is struggling, physically and mentally, over this huge secret. It doesn't help that she starts to recieve mysterious messages from someone who seems to know what she's done.
This book definitely kept me intrigued. I honestly did not feel bad for Tori at all, who kidnaps a child, and within a week is looking for a nanny, an absolute stranger, to watch the child? Also, I never really felt Tori's desperation for a child, she barely spent time with him. I had a hard time connecting with her.
I thought I had the twist figured out, and for the most part, I was right, I just never expected it to be as twisted as it was. I wish I had felt a bit more connection with the characters, there was also a lot that wasn't explained (but could be assumed) that I would have liked, such as the mysterious notes. The ending was definitely unexpected but satisfying, I just felt there were a lot more details that could have been explained.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for providing the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I did find the overall storyline a little farfetched. There were also several inconsistencies in the plot. The book did have a lot of action, so that helped move it along. It just wasn't what i was expecting.

I received an advanced copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The send book I’ve read by this author (first was a DNF).
Inconsistent character descriptions; unlikeable characters; outlandish plot; stilted, juvenile writing with no depth; conclusion accurately guessed within the first few chapters; lacks research and editing. Would not recommend nor read another.

First, I want to thank McGarvey Black, Joffee Books, NetGalley and Zooloo’s Book Tours for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

WOW!! Are you looking for a fast paced read that will hook you within the first page and keep your attention throughout the book? One with deep dark hidden secrets, wicked twists and turns, and an ending you will never see coming? Then you need to pick up McGarvey Black’s latest psychological thriller The Baby I Stole! It is unlike any book out there right now! It is so good and needs to be put on your tbr pile.

McGarvey’s storyline is stocked full of deep dark lies, betrayal, hidden secrets, and mind blowing twists and turns nobody saw coming. This is a creative read that would be perfect for any book club as there is so much to discuss!

The Baby I Stole is insanely twisted and has so much going on within the storylines! It starts out one way and just when you have it figured out McGarvey flips the switch and takes it into another totally different direction. That being said it is easy to follow but I needed to go back and revisit some scenes. Ohh but she didn’t stop there with the plot twists!! There are two more that will be saying omg she went there!

With all that I have said so far either this book needs a sequel to focus more on the last storyline revealed. Either that or this needs to be a series that I would totally binge watch on Netflix.

As someone who has gone through unsuccessful IVF and then adopted this story really appealed to me and it highlights just how far some people will go to have the thing they dream of most. It was such a page turner with many twists and turns and an ending I did not see coming.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for my ARC.

WOW! I have never read anything by McGarvey before, but this won't be my last book by her! I was so sure I knew how this book was ending but I didn't expect that twist!
I loved all the characters in this book and could empathize with everyone. Even though this book is fiction, I could see something like this happening in real life.

The Baby I Stole by McGarvey Black shoved its way into my brain from the first to the last words. I practically gnawed on my arm to get to the ending yet wanted to linger in the tension.

Tori and Daniel own a lovely home and are a great couple. But there is a huge void which led to IVF treatments and adoption lists. Tori visits her favourite beach for a breather and meets gorgeous Sasha and her impossibly adorable four-month-old son. They strike up a conversation and hit it off. Sasha takes a dip in the ocean and leaves a delighted Tori in the baby's care. Everyone is on cloud nine until Sasha's pink bathing cap is seen one last time before she goes under. Tori can't believe her fortune and though she feels terrible about the swimming accident, she takes her new baby home to meet his daddy, Daniel. She quickly churns out lie after lie and tells Daniel and her parents she picked him up at an adoption agency. The two glow with love with their son they call Jonah but Tori is on edge, constantly watching for swimming victims and a stolen child story in the news. None come, though police do. Eventually, the couple hires a nanny as they are busy with life and work. Tori's health issues don't exactly relax their grip with the added stress.

Though a few bits were predictable, others weren't which didn't adversely affect my reading experience one iota. The characters are deplorable which is a very good thing in a domestic thriller if done well. Happily, the journey was anxiety inducing, the pace was snappy and the writing hit me like a well-aimed brick. No idea how Black does it but she hit another home run.

Looking for a unique twisty turny thriller which will churn your insides? Let this be the one.

My sincere thank you to Joffe Books and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this stupendous novel.

THE BABY I STOLE
by McGarvey Black
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for this advanced copy of the ebook.
The book was not a particularly gripping read for me. There are 3 major elements to the plot - twists, so to speak - and I guessed two of them It just seemed to go on and on, and I finally just thru it.

What a suspenseful thriller we weave when we decide to deceive the ones we supposedly love! Sure rings true in The Baby I Stole by McGarvey Black. This book kept me enthralled from the first page to the very last page with so many twists and turns, especially the ending. In the beginning, a woman decides to take a baby home while on a trip to a beach one day, since she is unable to conceive a child of her own. The aftermath begins an amazing, can't put down read and I will definitely be reading more of McGarvey Black's books!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this. This book shows the powerful love of a mother to a child, and the powerful need women have to love a child, even if it isn't hers. This one pulled on the heart strings. I loved it and I was so nervous near the end!
