The third book in Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series ratchets up the action and suspense. It’s difficult to stop yourself from peeking ahead to the end, but the ride is worth the anxiety. A strong faith message helps readers to know about God’s presence, even in dark circumstances.
Darcy St. James receives a frantic call from her former investigative reporting partner, Abby, who is working on a cruise ship in Alaska. Something sinister is going on and Abby needs Darcy to help her stop it. Yet, Abby disappears right after Darcy’s arrival, before she can shed light on the mystery, and no one working for the cruise line seems to know what happened to her or think anything is strange. With help from Darcy’s former flame, Gage, she sets out to find the truth.
This book was great. I loved the story and character development
Stranded is the second book in the Alaskan Courage series that I've read though it is actually the third in the series. I'm not sure how I missed out on the second book, but believe me, I'll be going back to read it! Stranded is an extremely well-written Christian suspense novel filled with twists and turns and lots of action.
The characters in Stranded are very three-dimensional with their strengths as well as their flaws on display. They go through the same emotions we would go through and react accordingly. Although I have read the first book and am familiar with a few of the characters, I think you could read this without having read the others and still really enjoy the story. The characters are easy to get to know and understand. Darcy and Gage's interactions are full of romantic tension, and we see how much faith and love can impact lives.
This is a Christian suspense, so faith and hope are entwined in the story. In spite of scary circumstances, Darcy's faith keeps her going and searching for her friend even when others tell her she needs to accept the fact that her friend may be dead already. She refuses to believe that and consequently puts herself in danger.
The action, suspense, and romance make this a book I highly recommend. I read it in about a day and a half because it was so good. It's one you will not want to put down!
