This is the second book that I read by this author set in the same Southern town of Round Rock, Tennessee., but with a different timeline: it's 1952. While I felt a little lukewarm about the first book, I loved this one. The characters jumped off the page, and I really liked the main character Memphis reporter Shenandoah Coleman. This book actually reminded me of a John Grisham novel.
Dr. Kate is accused of murdering her patient and friend Lilian Johnson. The problem is that she does not remember her whereabouts at the time of the murder. Shenandoah interviews a cast of characters and we start to get a feel of what this small town is like, with its secrets, its loves, and its hatreds. I loved the suspense, the courtroom drama, the bit of romance, and the twist at the end!
Received via NetGalley for my honest review.
This is book two in the Round Rock series. It was every bit as good as book one though a different story too. Dealt with things that happen in the 50s like sexism and other things. I love this era in a book setting. A good read from beginning to end. I recommend it. Very good, touching story.
This is book two in the Round Rock series. I really liked this read and enjoyed reading about characters we already met in book one as well as being introduced to new character.
This is a well written story with topics such as racism and sexism in the 1950s. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
