I need a moment, that ending has me REELING, omg. Okay, so when I got approved for this audiobook arc I hadn’t actually read the first two in the series and didn’t realize it was a third book (my bad), alas, I was so interested in the storyline that I quickly read the first two and devoured them and this one as well. While there are some moments when the story dragged a little, and some characters and plot points felt almost tog-like, I overall enjoyed this installment of the series and cannot WAIT to see what happens next. This book at times was a little confusing as compared to its predecessors with the additional povs (especially in audiobook form they can be hard to follow) but it helped a lot having the voice changes between narrators for the different characters. The narration also helped to draw me into the story and while some narration falls flat for me or can be hard to listen to pushing me back towards the physical book, I felt like these narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life. I also love the nickname wild cat and find it so cute. Also this book is ~spicy~ so for people who aren’t a fan of the open door romance it might be a bit much, but for people who like that sort of thing this will be right up your alley. Overall, the story pulled me in and continued to expand upon the world and characters bringing us to a plot crescendo, which, I’m sure, will be spurred to even greater heights in the final installment. Thank you Stacia Stark and NetGalley for the ARC!! 🩵

Quick Summary: An absolutely riveting sci-fi fantasy

My Review: A Crown This Cold and Heavy by Stacia Stark is book 3 in the Kingdom of Lies series. Enemies, death, loss, love, power, sacrifice, and more continue to tell the story.

About the Book: Beloved characters are separated and even tortured, yet hope is not lost. Sinister plots are revealed as a crazed tyrant maddeningly enthralls his minions to carry out his bidding. Alliances and betrayals, agonizing suffering, and heartbreaking actions thicken the plot in this incredible saga.

About the Narration: Tim Paige and Meg Sylvan did a masterful job with narration. There was never a dull moment.

My Final Say: There are no words!!! I MUST find out what comes next. I confess that this series has its teeth in me. Why this has not yet been picked up for a movie/show/Netflix series is beyond me. It is brilliant!

Other: Readers who enjoy dark drama, never ending action, and supernatural fantasy/romance mixed with intrigue will devour this series. This novel, like the ones before it, is simply outstanding!

There is so much to this story, loyal friends, secrets and lies, romance, torture and the ultimate price to pay. This book absolutely epitomises the term "my heart in my throat" all. the way. through. (And this is a good thing)

I did get lost and utterly confused in the first two chapters where it was recapping and I was so tempted to put this down and read the prior two books, but I was already invested and in for a penny, in for a pound.

The characters are incredible and so well defined. Prisca is resilient, enduring torture with tenacity and fortitude and Lorian was the ideal companion. Their dynamic is unique in fantasy novels as there is a level of realism to it

Madina, Demos and Asinia were a great cast of side characters, each bringing powerful rhetoric and stories of their own

From the darkest depths of battles and death to the exalted highs of love and fealty, this book touched each and every single nerve, tore it up and sewed it back together, leaving me utterly breathless. Astounding

This was not the book to start this series on, and the narration was fantastic and fitted well to the prose, but not quite my taste, so it will definitely be a startover from Book One on ppb

Thank you very much to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this incredible ALC. This review is left of my own volition and the thoughts and opinions are my own

Brought to life by Tim Paige and Meg Sylvan, is a gripping fantasy. The multi-POV storytelling, intricate politics, and a relentless pace create an immersive experience. The inclusion of steamy scenes adds a bonus to the storyline, keeping the plot dynamic. The ending is a shocking cliffhanger, leaving me eager for the next installment. Paige and Sylvan's narration enhances the emotional depth, making this audiobook a must-listen.

2.5 Stars
I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series but I didn't really like the multiple POVs, it just started to get muddled and confusing to me because of that. I also still don't love the pet name "wildcat"- is that really meant to be hot?? This only really got good for me towards the end, and that cliffhanger ending obviously will have me coming back for the next book.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC!

4.5/5 ☆
Spoiler Warning‼️

I absolutely adored this book. I continue to enjoy the political intrigue of this series and getting to see Pricsa grow to be the ruler she is supposed to be. Watching her go from being unsure if she wants the throne to the hybrid kingdom to fighting for it from book 2 to book 3 has been absolutely fantastic. Some of my other favorite things from this book was watching Asinia and Demos dance around each other as subtlety as they could manage. I also enjoyed the multiple POVs from this and my favorite is The Queen's yet again.

I'm excited (and desperate) to see how this series concludes with the next book and especially after that cliffhanger.

Meg Sylvan is the absolutely best at portraying Prisca and so many of these characters. I love her tone of delivery.
Tim Paige is excellent as his narrating and I'm grown accustomed to his voice as Lorian.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing this audiobook arc in exchange for an honest review.

A Crown this Cold and Heavy gave me everything I wanted for a third book in this addictive series!

Lorian and Prisca have formed a united front to attack the darkness they’re fighting. The power in their love is undeniable.

I loved the multiple povs and depth to my favorite characters.

This book gave several punches to the gut but I adore the found family that has Priscas back in these dark time.

Can’t wait for book 4!

I receive the complimentary audiobook via NetGalley in return for a honest review. Thank you to Dreamscape Media, Stacia Stark & NetGalley for giving me access to this audiobook. As always, the opinions expressed are my own.

Stacia, you of done it again and you have left me with a cliffhanger. I am a huge fan of this series from the start. This book starts exactly were the last book ended. The story really begins to highlight the relationships of varies characters rather than just Prisca and Lorian. Oh and how this books makes me love Madinia as we start to even more of her in this book.

-The narrators were fabulous! 5 ⭐️ for Tim Paige and Meg Sylvan
-Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

If you need a sign this is your sign, get this book and start at the first book in the series!!

Stacia Stark's third installment is a solid continuation of the Kingdom of Lies series. The book does an good job of driving the reader toward that final and dramatic end in the next book. And the cliffhanger at the end will leave you on the edge of your seat.

The characters:
The third book has a much more internal journey for many of the characters. Prisca continues on a story of growth, especially as deals with loss and sacrifice. I did enjoy the introduction of new characters' POVS, though at times I needed to make sure I knew which character I was following as plotlines shifted. I like Madinia's journey and I hope we get to see more of her.

The plot:
The plot moves a bit slower in this book as it builds toward a dramatic end. Stark starts to close out some of the plot lines that we have been hoping for throughout the first two books while introducing new side plots.

The audio:
Meg Sylvan does a great job as always of conveying emotion. Together with Tim Paige, the characters come to life in an engaging way. Their narrator helped to keep moving POVs straight as you listen to a complex, interwoven story about different characters.

I don't have words. My heart hurts and I am still trying to wrap my mind around what just happened.. And that cliffhanger.. I need the next book now - this truly can't be for real, right?

“Me and you, in this life and every life.” 😭

THE ENDING!!!!!!!! I will be waiting on the edge of my seat, waiting to find out what happens next.

I love Prisca and her determination to protect her friends, family and people. Her character arc throughout this whole series has been so enjoyable to see.

Lorian becomes a little more feral for Prisca with each book and it has me melting all over again.

We got more POVs. And there are other relationships blooming and I am so excited for those. Hoping we see more in book 4.

I enjoy seeing more of the world and revisiting some of the characters we met previously.

Meg and Tim get another fantastic job narrating this book! Their range of voices for each chapter and for the POVs have been so fun to hear. You can hear all the emotion in their voices.

Firstly, I wanted to say thank you to netgallery, dreamscape and Stacia for the chance to listen to the audio arc in return for my honest review.

A crown this cold and heavy is the third book in the kingdom of lies series and it continues off right after the end of book 2, so you’ll definitely need to read the first 2 books before reading this one.

What to expect:
Multiple POV
Fantasy romance
Action and worldbuilding
Touch her and ☠️
Magic & fighting
Plot heavy
Cliffhanger ending
Good pacing
Easy to follow

I loved the continuation of multiple POV in this book. The character development made me love Madinia so much more. Prisca became more of a bada$$ in this book and I loved seeing her confidence and growth when using her powers.

The plot was well developed and the pacing was easy to follow. This book gave me all the feels. There’s passion, sorrow, action and love and I loved every single moment of it.

Tim & Meg did an amazing job once again with the narration. Meg nailed Prisca’s voice, it’s exactly how I imagined her.

This is a series that really has everything going for it and my latest obsession. From adventure to romance to heartbreak, I’ve been riveted from the get go. I am completely enamored with the characters, fascinated by the world, and transfixed by the plot. Stacia Stark has exhibited excellent world building and character development thus far. All of the moving pieces and the complexity of the world really set these books apart and continue to make this an unputdownable series for me! The spice is excellent, but one of my favorite things is that the plot is more than strong enough to stand on its own. There was not a dull moment in this one and I was completely transfixed for the entirety of the time I was reading. The ending broke me and has left me utterly feral for the next installment. I need to know what happens like I need air in my lungs. I’ve found a new auto-buy author and I could not be happier about it!

This is a great 3rd book in a series (not sure how many books there will be, this is not the last book). The book begins immediately after the events of the second book. I did not remember exactly what happened at the end of book 2 so I ended up going back and re-reading the last chapter. I wished there was a bit more summary before we dove into the excitement. This book involves a lot of set up for future events but it was not boring or slow.

The relationships are great and I appreciate that we get to see more than just the FMC and MMC interact. There are other potential romances, friendships, and sibling relationships. And the world building is very well done, I appreciate how far the world has come since book 1. Another big cliffhanger at the end, looking forward to book 4!

This is multi-POV with two narrators. I thought the narrators did a good job but it is confusing that the woman narrates multiple characters and the man does just one. There are maybe too many POVs now to keep track of what is happening where and with whom (esp. without a map).

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing an eARC of this book.

Thank you so much to @netgalley for the chance to review A Crown This Cold and Heavy by Stacia Stark. I think my heart may have broken, and I loved every minute of it!!! I absolutely cannot wait for book four!

Prisca is one of my favorite female MC ever, and the story picks up right after she’d been taken by one of Regnar’s “Spiders”. She will do whatever it takes to fight her way back to Lorien.

What I loved about this book, as the others, was that despite having multiple POVs, the transitions were seamless. The narration was excellent.

“A Court This Cold and Heavy,” by Stacia Stark

Prisca has time magic, after saving the magic user in the palace and the revolution has been started, she struggles to keep her friends and family safe. Lorian and Prisca will fight to save each other and everyone they care about. The king is getting more and more dangerous and needs to be stopped.

I loved this book so much. It’s the third in the series and I liked it more than the second. These books never let me down. The banter between FMC/MMC is perfect. The story and world building are so descriptive and reminds me of Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. My favorite thing about Stacia Stark’s writing is her characters, I love how she writes all the characters and I fall in love with all the side characters as well as main characters but also see why the bad guys are all doing what they are doing. The ending of this book was amazing, and I cannot believe I have to wait for the next book, it’s going to break my soul to wait. 5 out of 5 stars, one of the best books I’ve read and will be one of the best books of the year.

-Multi POV
-Enemies To Lovers
-Fae/Magic/Pirates
-Touch Her And You Die
-Morally Grey MMC
-Fated Mates
-Found Family
-Strong FMC

This series should have been a duology, things have been dragged out and I have lost interest completely, not enough character growth or movement to keep me connected

This is a super fun fanro series with a great cast of characters. If you enjoy a FMC who grows to be a badass, a MMC who gives off “touch her and be I alive” vibes, mixed with found family and some interesting magic then I highly suggest checking this serious out. Also flyer audiobooks for this series are top notch which a cast of different actors for the different characters! #ACrownThisColdandHeavy #NetGalley

We jump directly back into the thick of things in A Crown This Cold and Heavy. There is a lot of action in a lot of places, from a lot of POVs, I might have felt a little whiplash trying to keep track of everything happening across characters and locations in the audiobook. The lore of their world continues to build, while connections and romance grows, and be prepared for a massive cliffhanger at the end. Definitely another book hangover worthy read from Stacia Stark!
