Very cute and fitting for storytime! A crocodile with the best of intentions rushes to work, as he is a ferryman (the other animals ride on top of him). But he has no time for breakfast! Croc tries to grab breakfast at the donut shop, but they are all out. Croc advocates for himself to have an early break, but he finds himself extremely hungry and looking for his next meal in his passengers. The illustrations are lovely and brightly colored, with white highlights and easy to read dialogue.

Croc is running late for work and doesn't have time for breakfast. His job as the river ferry means carrying lots of different animals but as Croc gets hungrier, he has to work hard to distract himself from thinking of his passengers as potentially tasty lunch.

This is a fun story, with bright, colourful and engaging illustrations.

Review will be posted on Amazon 6/4

This was a very cute children’s book. I loved the illustrations throughout. I also enjoyed the message behind the book which focused on the importance of eating breakfast. I could definitely see this book being a great resource when introducing healthy living habits to young children. I think children will be able to understand the ideas in the book. I think they’ll also enjoy the colorful pictures throughout the book as well.

What an adorable children’s book! My four year old really enjoyed this book, iIt also helps that he loves animals and donuts! The book is written in a way that kept my on-the-go sons attention. He loved the graphics and thought it was so silly! Thank you to NetGalley and Kids Can Press for the ARC.

This book is absolutely adorable!! The illustrations were beautiful and kid friendly. My sons loved reading this book with me and has quickly grown to be a part of our nightly routine.

I love the fonts used for the conversations and speech, but found the font of the tex of the book to be a little small - It could simply be a result of the ebook formatting, The text sometimes felt lost among the beautiful illustrations.

The story is funny and related to most every parent, and the giggles that ensued toward the ends were priceless!

Overall, this book is super cute and just the right amount of silly. The illustrations are super gorgeous and colorful. Plus, it's very easy to read.

This book is less about the actual importance of not skipping breakfast (which is highly debatable as different bodies have different needs) and more about self-regulating. Croc skips breakfast and this results in them getting progressively more desperate and potentially harmful to the other critters around them. This highlights the need of understanding that there are times were you MUST slow down even if it means being a bit late to work. It's important to take care your needs for your own well-being and that of others. It also points at the necessity of community, as it is Hippo who actually brings food to Croc!

This is an extremely fun children’s book with eye catching illustrations and a conveys a great message about the importance of starting your day with breakfast. Croc with the help of a wide array of animal characters and his growing hunger make this a very entertaining book!

I read this to the children I nanny, and they were pulled into it instantly. The three-year-old was noticing all the fun illustrations while the five- and eight-year-olds were worried about what the crocodile might do without his breakfast. All three of them asked for the story again later in the day because they enjoyed it so much. We easily discussed how important it is for them to eat a healthy breakfast.

I am extremely grateful to Kids Can Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy of this wonderful picture book! I will definitely buy this book to add to my nannying bookshelf when it becomes available.

Review to come late May/closer to the release day to my blog/other places.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I saw this one on Netgalley and how could I resist with that title and that cover? Indeed, I couldn't! I was very curious to see what would happen if a crocodile would skip breakfast (I could think of a few things but which would it be or would there be twist?).

In this wonderful book we meet Crocodile! He is running late for his job as a river ferry (yes, not at but as, he is the ferry), and that means that he just doesn't have time for his Snappy Snacks breakfast cereal. But it is fine, he can just get some donuts (readers, it was not fine). It is fine, he can eat something at his work (also readers it is still not fine). And so we see a very hungry Crocodile try not to think of his passengers as food. Yes, food. The poor thing was just getting hallucinations and things didn't get better when he thought of other things. I was just laughing and hoping that Crocodile would be fine! Would he eat his passengers? Would something else happen? I am not going to tell you, but I liked what happened next and then even more so a bit later! I know that everyone will also love it.

I hope that his boss learns to ask his Crocodile ferry if he has eaten something and if not give him something, haha. You don't want a croc without breakfast in his tummy!

And then there is the ending! Oh my, is this a hint to a new book? Because I would LOVE that! Bring it!

Extra bonus points to the fun illustrations which were just an absolute delight, the narrator, Hippo Hut with a donut as O, that poster at Hippo Hut (how often DOES he go there?), the snake at Croc's work (it made me laugh).

I just had oodles and oodles of fun reading this one and I hope that Croc has learned to just EAT something. And no, not his passengers. Oh dear. Just make time for breakfast is what I meant. I would highly recommend this book to all.

A cute story about the importance of having breakfast... Especially if you're a crocodile!
This book would be a lot fun to read to a class and could be used to start a health lesson about nutrition and healthy eating habits.

This is a book that I wanted to really like. The humorous title and illustrations really grabbed my attention but I ultimately found the actual story to be lacking. I see how it can be a cautionary tale for children to not skip lunch but I felt that the delivery of that message fell flat for me.

Crocodile is late for work, so no breakfast for him! Follow Croc through his day as he tries to cope. The bright illustrations help to make this story pop. I think kids will enjoy this cute story that is easy to follow! Thanks Netgalley and Kid Can Press for the chance to read and review this book.

A Crocodile Should Never Skip Breakfast (Hardcover)
by Colleen Larmour

A funny book to remind children about routines and dietary health. A good book for social emotional learning helping the students understand how to take care of themselves even with time anxiety. It also shows the nature of friendship and helping others take care of themselves.

A Crocodile Should Never Skip Breakfast was a quit witty read that made myself and my 6 and 10 year old bust out in laughter. It was short and easy enough for my 6 year old to read on her own, but interesting enough to keep my 10 year old involved in the story. I mean hello? Crocodile and donuts where can you go wrong?! My 10 year old commented on how he really enjoyed this illustrators style and use of colors. The "hypnotized" eyes page inspired some "ooohhs."

The illustrations and color chosen for this book are beautiful and engaging and the premise of the book is intriguing, a crocodile who works as a ferry misses breakfast and starts to think about eating those he is ferrying.
While theses two elements are there, some just misses the mark with this book. I believe word and vocabulary wise it would be a good fit for a storytime, however the content and perspective of the book definitely skews older, and does not really engage the reader.

In A Crocodile Should Never Skip Breakfast we meet a crocodile who are late to work: they work as the jungle’s ferry. In the process, he doesn’t get the chance to eat breakfast—the most important meal of the day. What happens next?
This was a fun read and I absolutely loved the illustrations and how it got the message across: eating breakfast is important. Hopefully young readers will also find this funny and love the illustrations as much as I did!
Happy reading!♥️

I seize every opportunity to emphasize the importance of breakfast to my daughter. She skips this meal whenever she can, so I was glad to see that this is a book about Breakfasts! Well... I'm not sure that donut is the healthiest choice but beggars can't be choosers.

This is a funny story about the crocodile who has an important job to do but one cannot achieve much on an empty stomach, right? The animal illustrations are cute and the colours are vivid and lively. We liked reading this.
