The illustrations were vibrant and pleasing to look at so I think kids will enjoy the reading experience. The words were also just right and conveyed the information in a concise way. A good learning material for kids about gardening and the different elements that factors in the growth of a plant.

Ever a gardener at heart, I love that JaNay Brown-Wood has written a book to teach children how “treasures,” or fruits and vegetables, can grow from tiny seeds with the help of the sun, rain, the earth, and pollinators. This book gives kids a high-level overview of how gardening works. The illustrations were bright and colorful and made this book even more fun to read. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I've received an ARC from NetGalley and am writing this review voluntarily.

This book is intriguing. If you want to know the process involved in growing a plant successfully and the different difficulties one will face while nurturing the plants, this book is for you. I love a book with descriptions but in a way where we would think about better ways to do it. The kind of description that has explanations but very subtly motivates you to reflect beyond the box, nevertheless, any kind of box. This book has it. It has an explanation of the process that will make you understand the concept but it also has the space for you to cross-examine it and leave you with thinking of a better solution.

I like the book. This has a child-centered pedagogical approach to explain agriculture, planting, etc. If you want children to think, give this book a pick.

What an engaging, cute story! This book dives into what it takes to grow a successful garden, and also some things that can deter your progress along the way! As an avid gardener that is striving to teach my children all the ins and outs, this was a perfect spring savy book to read!

Here Are the Seeds is an incredibly sweet story about two children sowing seeds to grow a beautiful garden. Through encountering various challenges, they learn of all the elements and organisms that a garden needs to thrive, and they experience the joy that comes with growing plants!

I like how this book shows that the gardening process-and really any process- doesn’t usually go perfectly smooth. There will be bumps in the road and sometimes things need to change to get the desired result or product. This book encourages hard work, patience and learning.

This is a great gardening story for children! I like how this story talks about some of the things that can go wrong when trying to grow something, as many children's books about gardening and planting typically are about the basic steps. In reality, a lot can go wrong when you are growing plants, so this is a fun way to show students how to be problem solvers and learn about plants simultaneously. The illustrations in this book are beautiful and match the story well. This story will make a great addition to my 1st grade classroom library, especially during our unit on plant life cycles!

"Here are the seeds
that we will sow
to help our garden grow."

What an adorable and educational story this was! "Here Are the Seeds" follows two siblings taking care of their garden and the challenges they face along the way.

I like how the story builds upon itself, adding more lines about what helps a garden to grow and flourish - like soil, water, and sunlight - and what doesn't help - such as a lack of sunlight, too much water, or certain bugs - and how to solve those problems. The back matter goes into a deeper and more accessible explanation on gardening and its ecosystem and defines relevant, scientific keywords.

"Here Are the Seeds" was a fantastic read! I loved the cute and visually pleasant illustrations and vibrant colors. This would be a great story for science classes, classroom libraries, and nature lovers.

Thanks again Kids Can Press and NetGalley for the e-arc to read in exchange for an honest review!

Here Are the Seeds is a diverse, bright, and engaging picture book that introduces children to gardening. The story text follows a repetitive, cause and effect structure which is great for early literacy. The illustrations are bold and expressive, making it easy to navigate the story without too much background noise. I thought the small explanation at the end of the story about what plants need to grow was a nice addition to further conversation. It is a title I would use in a story time to talk about how plants grow and what they need to survive.

This bright and engaging book takes the reader through the ups and downs of gardening, with a focus on the cyclical and interconnected nature of growth. The rhythm and bright pictures make this sure to be a winner for spring read-a-louds, while the information in the back mean it can be a valuable addition for classrooms. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an Advance Readers Copy.

I read this book to my preschool class. I thought it was such a cute book and they really enjoyed the illustrations! This is a great way to introduce kids to seeds and the beautiful things they can grow. As a teacher I really appreciated the additional information at the end. I will be re-reading this in the spring when we start our class garden.

I loved this book and can't wait to introduce my students to it during our upcoming garden theme! The predictable and repetitive text is absolutely perfect for increasing engagement for younger readers, the illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and the interjecting problems that the children face will be incredible for problem-solving discussions. I'm thrilled to have children depicted in a springtime book with whom my students will be able to see themselves. This book is definitely going into my yearly rotation! The addition of the non-fiction explanation for how plants grow in the back to promote continued discussion (and hands-on experiences) was the cherry on top. Fantastic book for spring!

An adorable book showing my little ones how we grow our garden from seeds. I loved the illustrations, they are so bright and bold and grab your attention with two adorable children working on their garden. Add to that a very well written story about how seeds grow to become plants and what they need. The story has a very easy to follow rhythm to it that keeps our attention. This was a beautiful way to teach children about plants, gardens and what makes them grow without feeling like we are learning. We loved this book. I highly recommend this to all families and to all Early Childhood classrooms as well.

I read this book with my 5 year old.

This book kept her engaged. We plant a garden every year and she already had an understanding of planting seeds and that they need water and sun to grow.

This book contained additional information on why mushrooms grow, how soil is formed, and what role earthworms play in a way that she immediately grasped the info. It sparked her interest and conversation.

This will definitely be a book we re-read in the spring.

What a cute read. I love how this book went through the steps of making a garden grow, as well as handling any disasters or trouble that make come along. It's very informal for for children. It's not all about taking the seeds and planting them into the ground. There's so much more that goes along with happy a garden.
