Connect to Your Calling was a quick read.
It had some nuggets of decent information but lacked spiritual guidance with scripture in my honest opinion.
I honestly think that it could have been longer with better guidance.
First, I would like to thank NetGalley and Faithwords for the opportunity to experience this book.
This book, though a short read, packed a lot of punch. It gave very concise information about giving yourself direction. It encourages you to listen to your inner being to find that direction. Without rehashing the entire book, I will say that it sets you on the path to betterment.

You should read this book to really connect to your calling in your life. Sometimes, our ignorance to our calling will become a big hindrance to our humanness which God has called us. This short book will help you evaluate your gifts and talents and walk boldly into your calling and a life of purpose.
Meh. 🤷🏾♀️
I like the fact this book was a quick read. I honestly was surprised T. D. Jakes is the author. Based on the title and who he is, I expected this book to encourage/ instruct readers in how to Connect to your calling in life with God as your guide. I was wrong.
I won’t spoil the book for those who desire to read it. There were some good nuggets of motivation, but again not at all what I expected. This is my honest opinion.
Thank you NetGalley and Faithwords for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Connect to Your Calling by T. D. Jakes Book Review
In Connect to Your Calling, T.D. Jakes has written a brand new book about discovering your calling. He share the hidden truth that each of us hold the key to our own calling, purpose, and sense of fulfillment. Instinct is the key. He explained how he has met many people are unfulfilled and how they hate going into work every day. They don’t know their calling. He looked at instinct and how our creativity, resourcefulness, knowledge all work together to provide us fulfillment. He encouraged us to take inventory of what’s inside us first. He used a lot of animal references throughout the book to get his message across. He explained the role of cages and how they still choose to lock the cages at the zoo. It’s mainly because animals are drawn to the wild even though their needs and food is provided for them and they have it made inside the cage. He compared this to a role of an entrepreneur. He shared how he had to choose to move to Dallas and how God instructed him to move their and buy a church property and built a church. He admitted how he hasn’t ever regretted moving to Dallas. He discovered his calling.
One of my favorite stories was about what he witnessed when he toured Nike’s headquarters. One of the displays had a tennis show stuck in a waffle iron. Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman teamed up and created a new sole for better running and it was inspired by a waffle iron and they were able to follow their instincts. They were able to come up with a concept for a brand new shoe. This story was very inspiring.
I would recommend this awesome book about our calling to anyone who is questioning their path. This book will provide readers with the tools to search out what God has for them. This book is a small compact book to make it easier for readers to study the principles.
This was an inspirational and motivating read. I felt like it delivered a message that I was needing.
I appreciate how he outlined ways to identify your gifts and what you are truly called to do in life. I also loved that there was a realistic and practical lens on how to pursue these things in a responsible way rather than just advising people to jump in feet first with caution to the wind.
I would recommend this to anyone seeking direction and focus.
I enjoyed this book. I love reading book by T.D. Jakes, because they are always inspirational. I even used to watch him on TV and online. I need to watch him again. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
I requested this book because Pastor Jakes has always in the past shared nuggets in his work, but this one was a disappointment. There was nothing original in this title with regards to finding God’s calling in my life.
The one the pages felt like they were taken from the Bible but shared in a secular format, for example the Bible says the Holy Spirit will lead us and guide us. This book mentioned it’s our innate instincts that drive our action. Reading that section again I’m hoping he’s referencing the Holy Spirit within each of us.
I wanted more of a spiritual aspect from this title or more on the analogy of the giraffes in the chapter titled Taste the Treetops. ( eat at eye level). It’s ok I didn’t get either but I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this book.
In exchange for my honest review I received a copy of this galley.
