I could hardly put this book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat as the surprises just kept coming. This book is very well written and has a good plot. Lynes does a great job with describing all of the details throughout the book.
Will and Jessica are a married couple that split up after some surprising photos are sent to Jessica. At the time, it seems like this could just be a simple case of infidelity. But, it’s really far more.
This book makes you question a bit, who are your true people? Are they who they say they are?
This book takes a little while to get going but when it does...my oh my!
Get ready for an jam packed thriller, true edge of your seat reading
Brilliant, which I've come to expect from this amazing author
‘The Split’ is another exciting read by author S.E Lynes. This is a page turner and I really enjoyed it as I have come to expect from this author.
Last night Jessica and Will celebrated their anniversary. Over candlelight, they talked about the children, work, and everything felt wonderful.
But the following morning, when Jessica checked her phone, there was a message from a friend. Attached to the message was a set of photographs of her husband Will and another woman walking along the street holding hands.
Jessica confronts Will demanding to know what is going on but he swears it is not what it appears and Jessica is left betrayed and upset. Jessica is distraught and wants to know more and the identity of the mystery friend who sent the photos. As time goes on Jessica senses that there is someone watching the house and following her. Will is acting like a stranger and she feels she can no longer trust him but is he telling the truth and is something else is going on she doesn’t understand.
The novel is well written with believable characters and lots of suspense making it another winner for me.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
It took a bit to get into this book. I feel it's a def 3.5. things really pick up after half way mark. The beginning part seemed to go on and on and on but I see why it was needed. Sometimes you have to let things fall.into place.
I did enjoy this book though and glad I finished it
A well thought out twisty thriller with believable characters that makes it hard to stop reading!
Jess and Will split after some compromising photographs are sent to Jess of Will and another woman. Both broken hearted feeling that the other is to blame for the split.
Broken trust, betrayal, manipulation and misunderstandings all feature.
The story really makes you think how easy it can be to be taken in by lies, how easy it can be to misinterpret things.
The plot flowed well, told by the perspectives of both Jess and Will.
I loved that behind their split you could see their love for each other despite both being reluctant to give in and simply talk to each other - a marriage where they had taken each other for granted.
A must read for thriller lovers!
The first half of the book starts off pretty slow. The second half pulls you in to with crazy twists and turns. It is filled with lies, betrayal, secrets, murder and more!! Jessica and her husband Will’s marriage will be tested. I couldn’t wait to see all the truths revealed and see what would happen to Jessica and Will.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an eArc of this book!
Wow, what a thrilling ride this is!
The Split is the third book I have read by S E Lynes, and it’s my favourite yet. From the moment we meet protagonists Will and Jessica to the jaw-dropping end, it was a roller coaster of twists, turns and what-the-hell-just-happened? moments!
Jessica’s life is bumbling along just fine – until someone sends her a string of photos of Will with another woman.
Still scarred by a childhood betrayal, Jessica knows the photos have the power to detonate the perfect life she has fought so hard to build.
As the consequences of Will’s actions spread ever wider, both he and Jessica find themselves caught up in a whole heap of trouble darker than anything they could ever have imagined.
Just when I thought it was over, Lynes pulled the rug from under my feet one last time.
At its heart, this book is a portrait of a marriage and is a stark reminder how quickly even the most seemingly perfect relationships can go stratospherically pear-shaped after just a couple of bad decisions.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and S E Lynes for an advance copy of The Split.
Firstly, thank you NetGalley and Bookoture for providing me with an opportunity to receive a eARC of The Split prior to its official publication date of March 8th in exchange for my honest review.
The Split begins with a quick blurb on Jessica’s past as a child and how she encountered her own father cheating on her mother. The next portions moves on to the present scene. The main characters William Draper and Jessica Jackson are then ‘happily’ celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary until Jessica receives an anonymous text including photographs of her husband with an unknown woman.
In effort to not share any spoilers, the biggest lesson I take away from this book is that communication is EVERYTHING, especially in a marriage. If the main characters would have communicated, a lot of the problems could’ve been solved fairly quickly. I found many parts to be repetitive and many of the twists and turns were predictable but still an overall good read.
I've read one other book by this author and enjoyed it.
The twists and turns in this book didn't disappoint and it definitely kept my interest!
The plot moves as the perfect pace and the writing is good.
I am a huge fan of this type of book and S E. Lyons is definitely becoming one of my "auto-buy/read" authors!
I had mixed feelings about this read, finding the first part slow and the second half picking up abit,it was a long drawn out story for me and I disliked everyone so found it hard to connect with the characters.
I do like this authors work but this was not her best for me. Looking forward to reading her next book and hopefully being more engaged.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC
I’ve read a few of this authors books and enjoyed them but sadly struggled with this one a bit. It felt quite repetitive with not very much happening and the story could have been shorter. I also didn’t particularly like any of the main characters and struggled to connect with them. In my opinion this was not one of her better books but I will still be reading more by her in the future
When Jess is sent photos of her husband, Will, in various places and romantic poses with another woman, her world falls apart. Throwing him out of their family home, having to leave their two children behind, he sits crying into his pint until he is rescued by the well dress and affluent Ian Robbins. Ian listens to him, gives him a rent-free flat, and even dresses him to put him back on his feet. When Ian asks Will to do a small favour in return, he feels he cannot say no.
This is a BRILLIANT book. I thought I was ahead of the game at so many points, but had my mouth dropping open in shock at many points. There are twists and turns, as you would expect from a Susie Lynes book, but she excels herself here. This is my favourite SE Lynes book yet.
Excellent domestic thriller that kept me guessing. Riveting and full of suspense. So many shocking twists that left me breathless.

Awesome. 5 ⭐
The day following their wedding anniversary, Jessica discovers images on her phone from an anonymous number about her husband with another woman, engaging in meetings at hotels, and so on.When Will remains tight-lipped about the situation, Jessica decides to kick him out. As they adopt a silent stance, matters start to take a turn for the worse..
But this is only the beginning of this terrific novel. When you expect a twist, you'll get a turn...and when you expect a turn you'll get a twist. That's the beauty of this book.
Overall it's worth reading.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
Really enjoyed this book. Some parts I did find quite slow but the amount of twists and turns made up for it! Thank you Net Galley
While I loved the story, the plot and I was really shocked at the twists thrown in, I found part of the book quite repetitive and slow moving. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Jessica and will have just celebrated their wedding anniversary. Then Jess receives photos of her husband with another woman. The marriage she thought was okay suddenly crumbles. But is everything as it seems.
A twisty tale of different perspectives.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see a DRC
The Split kept me on my toes, turning the pages at warp speed wanting to know what was going to happen next in this riveting page turner! The secrets in this book are practically jumping off the pages.
The day after celebrating their anniversary, Jessica receives a message with pictures that break her heart and shatter her happy life. There are many pictures of her husband, Will in increasing alarming pictures with another woman. In tears, her heart broken, she confronts her husband who offers no explanation beyond that it is not what it looks like. Angry, hurt, confused, and heartbroken, Jessica throws him out of their home.
That is only the beginning of this shocking, brimming with secrets, and twist filled book. There is a lot going on in this book. S.E. Lynes threw in quite a few well-placed twists to not only keep readers invested but to keep the pace moving at a nice speed. I could feel the characters hurt, their pain, their anger, their shock, and their confusion. I enjoyed how S.E. Lynes showed how people grappling with hurt and heartbreak do not always make the best decisions or at least well thought out ones. That they are operating on pure emotion which sometimes gets in the way of making better judgement calls. I found myself chanting "communicate, Communicate, COMMUNICATE" throughout the book.
Gripping, shocking, tense and well written.
I look forward to reading what S.E. Lynes writes next!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jessica and Will share a lovely night together to celebrate their wedding anniversary, for it to all end in tears as Jessica is sent incriminating pictures of Will and another woman the very next day.
After throwing Will out, Jessica tries to keep things normal for their children whilst Will seemingly meets someone who has been through similar. Has Will got himself into something he can't get out of?
A bit slow paced at times during the first half of the book, but full of suspense and twists you dont see coming - ok ok, some I did but you might not. It kept me gripped until the very end.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
