I thought this was a great thriller esc book! However, I found myself guessing parts of the story, making me wish it was a little more mysterious. The writing style was good.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I loved how intricate this book was and how incredibly fast paced it was. This book had multiple points of view that kept things interesting and exciting. There were some very disturbing events in the book, but they were not overly graphic and made the story even more twisted. This book was so gripping.
The best part about this book was the characters, which saying a lot because they are so one-dimensional. One of the main conflicts is that the main character is a lesbian and her daughter is homophobic. And that gets so quickly resolved; it's hard to even call it a conflict.
The story is bland, and every single twist was predictable from the beginning.
The writing style awkward. It feels like the book has been translated through a dozen different languages, then back to English.
A missing five-year-old girl is the key to unlocking a detective’s terrifying past…
When Detective Billie Ann Wilde receives a desperate call that five-year-old Emma Wilson is missing, she rushes to the family home. But inside the picture-perfect house surrounded by Florida marshlands, she finds no children’s clothes or toys, no photos of the innocent child Emma’s mother Marissa describes. Billie suspects Marissa Wilson is hiding from someone.
It’s a race against the clock to find Emma. But Marissa refuses to tell Billie anything about her past, and before long, she also disappears…
And then Billie realizes who Marissa is.
She’s the ten-year old girl Billie failed to find in her first ever case fourteen years ago. The leads went cold because Billie made a fatal mistake.
For those of you who are familiar with Willow Rose, she has a couple of series. This is book 1 in a new series with Detective Billie Ann Wilde. I loved this story and was captivated from beginning to end. Willow has a way of bringing you into the characters lives so smoothly and then you are suddenly so invested and so caught up and then anxiously awaiting the next installment. This series appears to be no different. I was engaged from beginning to end and I will be looking for the next book!
Thank you NetGalley and Willow Rose for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Overall okay, it could maybe be a higher rating if I read the actual book. Audiobooks are not for me. I just really don’t like the narrators voice being 3 different characters.
I’m entranced with this new crime series from multi-million-copy bestseller #
Willow Rose! Book 1 introduces Billie Anne to her audience in an intense, unputdownable story with heartbreaks abound. She’s a flawed main character working hard to find the missing ones in her case, as she grapples with her own battles. I was taken in with this suspense thriller that left me surprised at the twist.
Lisa Rost-Welling is the perfect narrator for this one!
Thank you, Willow Rose, Bookouture, #bookoutureaudio & @netgalley for my audiobook! All opinions are my own
Chilling and intense. Lots of great suspense - loved Wilde, strong and passionate.
A five year old is taken from her yard - her mother desperate for her to be found. Hidden truths, dark secrets and a detective with her own.
Great start to a new series!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this great novel. This was an interesting listen, and I found myself struggling through the parts where Kitty was being abused. It hurt my heart. I did see most of the twists coming, but that didn’t stop me from gasping out loud more than once. This was a decent 3.5 star read and I would pick up another novel from this author.
Oh wow! Where to start! Detective Billie Ann Wilde is called on a missing child matter and immediately begins her investigation, visiting the home of the missing child. But things get weird. The home shows no signs that a child has ever lived in the home, and there is something off about the mother, Marissa. When others say that Marissa is crazy and does not have a child, Wilde believes there is more to this story. Wilde must go with her instincts to save this child while putting herself in immense danger. What happens in the end with blow you away making you think "I did not see that coming!" I am a new fan of Willow Rose and can't wait to read all her books!
What I liked about this book:
While the story is similar to real life stories, it is its own.
The emotions of this book keep you on the edge of your seat.
I felt sucked in by the story, by the emotions and read this book late into the night to get to the ending which left me happy (you'll see) but sad that the book was over.
Grateful I have found another author to love.
What I didn't like:
Honestly there wasn't much.
Thank you to Netgalley, Willow Rose and Bookouture for the opportunity to listen to this gem early!
This was a great story. I really enjoyed reading it. I don't think it was extra-ordinary. But it was a good read, really easy and likable characters.
I didnt really enjoy this book. It covered some very dark themes of child sexual abuse and rape. On top of this the story was crammed with many different characters with complex issues and side plots and it all just became a bit bogged down. I didn't really enjoy the chosen reader of this audiobook either and felt it really detracted from the experience. I think there were good elements, for example, I think Kitty's story was well written, but there was just too much going on.
Thank you to NetGalley and th publisher for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
A thoroughly absorbing and intricate tale of humanity going the wrong way. A child goes missing and no one believes she exists. The fortitude of the lead investigator makes some scary discoveries and the pursuit commences. Thrilling
I recently listened to the audiobook "Don't Let Her Go" by Willow Rose, narrated by Lisa Rost-Welling. While the story itself was intriguing and kept me engaged, I must admit that I struggled with the narrator's voice. Lisa Rost-Welling's narration didn't quite resonate with me, and I found connecting with the characters and the plot's intensity challenging.
The story follows Detective Billie Ann Wilde as she investigates the disappearance of five-year-old Emma Wilson and uncovers a connection to a past case involving a missing ten-year-old girl. The fast-paced narrative and complex web of mysteries had the potential to be captivating, but I found myself distracted by the narration throughout.
Despite my struggles with the narrator's voice, I could appreciate the intricate plot twists and how Willow Rose weaves multiple timelines and character perspectives together. Detective Billie Ann Wilde is a compelling protagonist, and her dedication to solving the cases of missing children adds depth to the story.
While the multiple subplots and continuous introduction of new elements added suspense and complexity to the narrative, it also made immersing myself in the main storyline challenging. However, the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter did keep me engaged and eager to uncover the next twist in the story.
Overall, "Don't Let Her Go" is a gripping crime thriller with a solid lead character and a multi-layered plot. While the narration may not have been to my liking, the story's intensity and the skilful setup of the mysteries make this audiobook worth a listen for fans of the genre.
An enjoyable listen - well narrated, well paced, good recording quality. This was a twisty story, a little police procedural, a little psych thriller. I'm betting this character continues, as there were some parts of her storyline that were just not necessary for this story.
Detective Billie-Anne is called into on a missing child case. But things don’t add up when there are no records of the mum or daughter and no evidence of child paraphernalia around the house. However, as the body count around the town starts to build up, the urgency to find the missing child, Emma, builds up. Billie-Anne makes the link to a case 14 years ago that she was involved in, another missing girl and now knows the race is against the clock to find this perpetrator.
A really enjoyable start, to what I hope is a new series. Billie-Anne’s character was refreshing and suitably buoyant in determination to find the truth. A thought out plot that plays out well. Looking forward to reading more with Billie-Anne.
This one kind of started out a bit slow but once it picked up, it started getting interesting and I was captivated
Don't Let Her Go by Willow Rose is such a strong police procedural thriller. I loved it. It is very well-written, with a strong female lead and an interesting cast of supporting characters. I really liked the story and how far back it went into creating the backstory. I am really looking forward to more books about Detective Billie Ann Wilde.
The audio narration by Lisa Rost-Welling was great! If you enjoy books about Detectives or DI's, then this new series is for you!
Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this audiobook.
An excellent start to a new series. Detective Billie Ann Wilde investigates a missing girl that nobody believes exists with plenty of twists along the way and a sting in the tail. Glimpse of the past converge well to a shocking end. Looking forward to the next in the series.. Lisa Rost-Wellings does an excellent job of narrating this novel. Thanks to Bookoutre Audio and Netgalley for a review copy
Don't Let Her Go is the first book in Willow Rose's brand new Detective Billie Anne Wilde series. It's the kind of fast paced suspense, with plenty of heart, that I've come to expect and love from this author.
I read the audio version of Don’t Let Her Go. Lisa Rost-Welling does a wonderful job in narrating this book. She pulled me right in and brought each of the characters to life.
Detective Billie Ann Wilde has caught the case of a young girl who's missing. But when she gets to her home there's no sign that a little girl ever lived there. Billie wants to know what her mother is hiding. The clock is ticking. Will she be able to put all the pieces together before it's too late?
Audio version of this book 📕- An ok listen though the story jumped about to much for me. The narrator was really easy to listen too and made the characters come to life
