This story started off slow but it had potential and I really wanted to find out what was going to happen! However, it took until about 75% through to finally pick up and only one of the twists was unexpected, everything else was pretty simple to figure out.

I was so bored and didn’t like how quickly the story jumped around. It’s like each paragraph jumped from a different location or time of day without warning. Also, parts that didn’t need any explanation or long winded descriptions went on for pages on end, but the parts that really mattered were over in a matter of a few sentences, like someone cheating. I really did not enjoy the small parts being so long winded and the important parts just getting blown over.

At least in the end it had a complete ending, no cliffhangers and it finished well. I just wish it focused more on important parts and it could have been shorter and get to the point faster. It was a good idea I just don’t think it was executed well, unfortunately.

My thanks to #StormPublishing #NetGalley and #SallyRoyer-Derr for the ARC of #SecretsNextdoor. How well do you know your neighbors? Hooked from the very first page, this quick read, summer beach book is an absolute page-turner. Twins Talia and Tabitha live next door to each other and own a cupcake shop together. One day a hugely popular mystery writer, Anne Gravely, rents the house next to Talia to have a quiet place to write her new books in peace. But questions soon arise – why is Anne creeping around at night? Tabitha concludes the woman is up to no good. The twins turn into amateur sleuths and uncover more than they were expecting. The twists in this book were pretty good. It’s a nice, tight read.

Very enjoyable read. Lots of gossip, sibling rivalry, secrets and drama between the pages of this book. The suburbs are calling...

Twin sisters, Talia and Tabitha, are neighbours. They also own and run a bakery together. Also, they are suburb royalty and when a new neighbour, Anne moves in, the drama begins.
Talia has the perfect husband and loves her colour co-ordinated sweater sets, while Tabitha is the queen bee and calls the shots, also in her sister's life. You quickly realise, their relationship is a bit too close for comfort with quite a few skeletons in the closet. And is Anne really who she says she is?

A twisty psychological thriller that will make you keep awake reading until late into the night. Domestic noir at its finest.

There is no words for how bad this book was.

It felt like it took forever to get somewhere and then when it did it was just a horrible mess.

I found it really farfetched and pulling plot points out of thin air when they weren't mentioned before.

I've actually gave far too much time to this book already so I'll leave it here.

*Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Sally Royer-Derr for the copy of this book. All views are my own.*

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in return for my review!

This was a pretty quick paced read for me. Talia and Tabitha are twin sisters that live next to each other and own a bakery together. A mysterious neighbor (Anne) moves in and the girls spend a lot of time trying to figure out what she is up to. Friend or Foe?

It gets a little dark and creepy but sets the tone. Would recommend.

I’m in two minds about this book. It was an enjoyable read, definitely, but rather far-fetched in places. The twist at the end had me rolling my eyes a bit - definitely didn’t see it coming but you just wouldn’t even think that was going to happen (I’m trying not to spoil it).
Talia and Tabitha are twins living next door to each other in an upmarket suburb. Tabitha is married to Grant, and while it’s clear she loves him, it was a marriage for money. She helped her sister and her husband Zach to buy the house next door and Zach his high flying bank manager’s job.
When crime writer, Anne, moves in next door to Talia, both women are suspicious of her and know that something is off.
I wasn’t keen on either of the twins - they were both lacking something for me and I guess that’s a bit off-putting for me 3⭐️

Talia and Tabitha live next door to each other, in small town Little Beak, New York. Even though they are identical twins, they do have their differences. Talia is the more sensitive twin, warm and open to meeting new people and very content with what she has in life. Tabitha on the other hand is the more fierce one, protective and always overcompensating. Their relationship is complicated, and gets even more rocky when a new neighbor, Anne, moves in next door to them. There is something strange about her, and when the twins try to find out what it is, it starts to tests their twin bond and things start to unravel.

I really enjoyed the different points of view, from each of the twins. The story was very thrilling and at times I was getting goosebumps with how creepy the description was. The author did a very good job of keeping the story super suspenseful, without giving too much away. I had no idea in what direction the ending was going, and I did not see that conclusion coming. Very enjoyable book.

This was a fascinating story with a real twist at the end. Well constructed storyline which seemed very real and with some good characters.

3.5/4
I read this in a couple of hours which because of my short attention span, means a lot!

I don't usually like first person narrative and a lot of the story is told through internal monologue, but I appreciate that I do think it worked in this instance and it was an easy read with a couple of interesting twists.

Thank you Net Galley for this ARC

Anne moves into a suburban neighborhood where she is met with typical neighborly gestures from Talia and Tabitha. However, Anne is guarded, concealing her own secrets while observing her seemingly perfect neighbors who reign over the community. As tensions rise and suspicions mount, a delicate dance of secrets begins. While the plot promises suspense and intrigue, the execution may lack depth in character development and originality. Despite this, the novel offers a decent portrayal of neighborhood dynamics and hidden motives, making it a three-star read for its engaging premise and exploration of secrets and deception in a seemingly idyllic setting.

Alright then!! This one was a little creepy crazy. In all the best ways!
Twins that live next door to one another - own a bakery together - BFFs - Sounds "perfect" right? And it was. Until it wasn't. Add a mystery author into the mix and everyone decides to lose their darned minds!!
I seriously did NOT see this ending coming - which is fabulous!
Special thanks to Netgalley and Sally Royer-Derr for advanced Copy of The Secrets Next Door - I sincerely loved this book!

The Secrets Next Door is an interesting and standard mystery by Sally Royer- Derr.

The story follows Talia and Tabitha, identical twins with contrasting personalities and intertwined lives. Author Anne Gravely becomes their neighbor, sparking suspicion and paranoia. The book starts slow, it picks up pace, ending well despite some obvious red herrings and implausible elements. The characters felt underdeveloped, and it was hard to power through at some points.

Overall, it was worth reading for those who enjoy twisty mystery/thrillers.

Thank you to Storm Publishing, Sally Roger-Derr and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Neighbourhood Secrets..
A seemingly perfect neighbourhood hides secrets in this dark domestic noir. When a new neighbour arrives, local suspicions are aroused - but sometimes secrets cannot be revealed without a revelation of your own. A tale of suspense with a mystery at its heart, a pacy narrative, an intriguing premise and plot populated with a deftly drawn cast and leading to a, perhaps, unexpected denouement.

This book is so good! It brings a lot of questions to you, do you really know the people that live next door? I liked the characters and I really didn’t expected that ending. This is a book that I couldn’t put down so I’m excited to read more books by this author. I highly recommend it to everyone

I found this book to lack significant detail that propelled the story forward. The writing seemed simplistic yet chaotic and include many details that seemed irrelevant to the plot. The premise initially seemed interesting; however, the twist of Anne ultimately fell flat. I wish the story had a touch more realism given there were too many things happening that likely would y happen in real life. If they did, definitely all of the dynamics were over the top.
