Talia and her twin sister, Tabitha, live next door to each other. Talia is married to Zach and Tabitha is married to wealthy Grant and they have a son, Cole, 6. The twins co-own a bakery called Little Beak Sweets.

They have a new neighbor moving in. She is Anne Graveley, a mystery author. Talia thinks the woman is hiding something and wants to learn what it is. She enlists her sister’s help.

This story shows the closeness plus the aggravations the twins experience with one another. There is tenseness, scary parts, and sad parts. But the ending is a real surprise. Wow. Some people are so evil. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but suffice to say that this story is compelling. Oh yes, and the cupcakes the girls make in their bakery sound yummy. Enjoy!

Chefs kiss! I'm getting more and more into audio books and this one was entertaining! i love when audio book keep me engaged i listed to this from start to finish! the whole time i was at work i did figure out most of the twist which i don't love but still a solid listen

I’d never heard of Sally when I was browsing NetGalley but the titles intrigued me enough to request it and I was very happy to be approved. The story had me hooked pretty quickly. It’s the kind of story I really enjoy. A lot about it appealed, the location, the description of the bakery, some characters were instantly likeable, others less so but I couldn’t put a finger on why not. There were twists and turns all the way through and they had me gripped. Brilliant story and will definitely read Sally’s other books now. Highly recommend.

Great book kept me hooked from the start some fantastic twists that I never saw coming I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good thriller

This book was fine. I found the writing style to be a bit abrupt. We got JUST the facts and nothing more. The pacing seemed a bit off as well. It was quite consistent despite this being a thriller novel. I would have expected increased pacing during those scenes where it was warranted to help with the suspense or thrill.

Lastly, I wasn't a big fan of the "paranormal" aspect that was thrown in at the end. It seemed a bit out of left field. Maybe had that been introduced and exhibited sooner, It would have made more sense. To put it at the end just felt like a bit of a cop-out.

I tried to finish this book but ultimately DNF at Chapter 15. The tagline for this book: "totally gripping psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist"- couldn't be the farthest from the truth. It was not gripping, not a thriller, and if there was a twist, I never got there because by the time I had completed 37% of the book, I was completely bored, and saw no mystery or thriller in sight.
A set of twins, one who is the good twin, one who is the evil twin (how original!), live in a posh suburb in a small town where a new woman moves in, and the evil twin immediately dislikes the new neighbor and thinks she is suspicious. That seems to be the bulk of the mystery at the beginning of this book. Why is she suspicious, because they (twins) don't know why she moved in, and they don't like the neighbor's explanation as to why she moved in??? This is not the plot of a thriller. This is small-town people being nosey, with nothing better to do.
The attempt to make this a mystery by calling anything the neighbor does "strange:" doesn't make a thriller.
It felt like the writer had a word count they were trying to reach. There was so much unnecessary detail given to insignificant points in the story and there was often a list of 3 to 4 adjectives to describe one object. Long descriptions for things that did not advance the plot of the story. How we used to write in grade school when the teacher told us we had to write a 100-word paper, and you threw in as many adjectives as you could in one sentence. This happens so often in the book., in addition to characters repeating something they had already "said". Although most of the book we are just hearing the character's inner dialogue.
At one point the twins refer to Nancy Drew, and a Drew mystery had a far better mystery plot than this book.
It adds in these "Real Housewives" storylines that do not make this a thriller or gripping.
They should remove the real housewives drama, re-do the cover and market this "thriller" to middle school students. That's the level of writing in the book.

Tabitha and Taliha are twin sisters. They live next door to each other and own a cupcake business. While Tabitha is over the top, Taliha is more relaxed and subtle.
The girls have a new neighbor, Ann. She is renting out the house next door to Taliha's for a year. She is a writer. Ann and Taliha seem to hit it off. Shopping together and hanging out. Tabitha, on the other hand, doesn't like Ann. She thinks Ann has underlying motives for renting the house next door. Taliha can't understand what her sister's problem is. Even Taliha's husband Zack has begun to act erratic and strange about her hanging with Ann.
Her sister and husband are hiding something. Taliha just doesn't know what it is. Is Ann hiding something, too? Taliha is determined to find out what it is that her neighbor, husband, and sister are up too

Two twin sisters and their husbands live next door to each other. Tabitha and Talia may look alike but are very different in other ways.

When an author moves in next door to Talia, I wondered if the secrets were hers or one of the sisters. The suspense grew throughout the story. There were a few twists along the way that kept me interested.

I felt the book was a little too wordy and descriptive about mundane things that didn't really add anything to the story. Other than that I liked the book a lot.

The characters were written well, although I wanted to know more about one of the husbands background and what was currently going on with him at his job.

Overall, a quick engaging read.

This book was really unpredictable and I loved the twist at the end. The author did an excellent job at creating the feel of unease about the situation and the inability to trust in characters. The story was a quick read and it was relatively fast paced. I loved the authors ability to make me dislike certain characters and I loved how the story came together and tied up nicely in the end.

The audiobook narrators were excellent - great pacing, clear and fit the roles well!

A great quick read for thriller lovers who want unpredictable twists and an addictive read!

I struggled to get into this book. The lengthy, wordy descriptions of things (particularly household objects that made no difference to the story) interrupted the flow of the story and I was constantly having to re-read passages to understand what the sentence was actually saying. The book would have benefitted from tighter editing.

It took me a while to distinguish between the twins, Talia and Tabitha, and their husbands. There were some twists, although I guessed the big one early on.

The Secrets Next Door is a domestic thriller about two sisters that live next to each other and one day a mysterious woman, an author, moves into the house next to one of them and brings a lot of mystery and secrets with her. We follow the unravel of the secrets of the stranger, but also of the sisters themselves.

We have a dual POV and there’s a lot of description throughout the story and the character development was done nicely. The pace was perfect, and the final twist was unexpected. It’s a story full of secrets and a tale of revenge full of tension that start building up since the start.

Overall, it was a roller-coaster of twists and turns with some shocking reveals and a bit of drama. With all the tension building I start wondering who was hiding what and what really happens behind closed doors. It was a game where everyone was trying to keep their secrets locked away. In the end everything was perfectly tied, and I really enjoy it.

You learn all about the similarities and differences in the twins and how they feel about each other. Throughout the story many secrets are reveled and it keeps you guessing.

I liked the mystery and the overall idea of this story. It was an interesting perspective of identical twins and how living with a twin would be.

Overall I did not love the execution of this book unfortunately. This was WAY too descriptive. I was very bored trying to get into it because 90 percent was just describing things. I also found myself getting very lost of switching POVs between the sisters because their names were so similar. I wanted to like this book but unfortunately the writing style and execution just was not for me.

This was a story of twin sisters, who live next door to each other. A mysterious lady moves next door to them, and they decide to investigate her. . I loved the story.

This book is about twin sisters, both married, who live on the same street, right next to each other. One day a mysterious woman, an author, moves into the house next door to one of the twins and she is full of mystery. The twin sisters think she is up to something, so much so that they sneak into her house to sneak around. One of the sisters, Talia, is friendlier to the stranger, but the other, Tabitha, takes an instanct dislike to her. The story follows the revelation of secrets not only of the stranger, but also of the sisters themselves and their husbands.

I liked the ending. It was good. I enjoyed seeing each character get what they deserved. I love stories about twins. Which is why I can't understand the deception that took place. It didn't seem realistic to me. But...I liked the ending.

This book had ALOT of description...to much. Interspersed with so much description was the slow uncovering of the mystery. The story is told through the perspective of the twins: Talia and Tabitha. Mostly Talia. Too much thinking. Not enough action. There were some red herrings, but that is to be expected. But I found myself skimming most of the pages until I got to the dialogue, and I didn't really miss anything.

I would consider this to be a domestic thriller. It is good. If you can get through the parts of the story that are not important to the development of the plot, then the ending will make you happy. If not...then skim through it like I did. Not much more to say.

OMG this was a trip! I knew her sister was a narcissistic bitch but I never guessed she'd go so far as to rule/ruin her twin's life! And of course, both husbands are bags of dicks! I love that each terrible person got his/hers in the end, that's my favorite!

This was my 1st book by Sally Royer-Derr but it will def not be my last!

I was hooked from the very first chapter. It immediately becomes apparent that something is amiss between the family’s dynamic but it’s hard to actually pinpoint what’s going on. It’s a great thriller, and I love how the story was realistic but not predictable. In my personal opinion, I hate thrillers that are outlandish because it takes away from the creepy lure. This book had me side-glancing at my husband lol solid 5 out of 5 for me! It was great!
