Y’all, why didn’t I start reading this series sooner??? It has made me cackle so, so much. I found the first two books to be especially bingeable.

Life should be easier than this.

Really.

Riley Thorn finds herself divorced, single, strapped for cash, working a soul-sucking job, and living on the third floor of a mansion that has both seen better days and is filled with residents decades older than herself. As if all of that wasn’t enough of a kick-in-the-pants, she keeps getting psychic flashes and visions about the people around her.

And, oh yeah, one of her housemates just ended up dead.

Nick Santiago rarely encounters a situation he can’t charm his way out of (or a lady he can’t charm the pants off of). Originally sent to serve papers to Riley Thorn’s now unalived housemate, he’s since been hired to track down the killer. And that attractive, eligible psychic (Riley) that lives across the hall from the victim may just be the woman he needs in his bed for the rest of his life—ummm…I mean the woman he needs to help him crack the case.

Few authors can make me laugh out loud the way Lucy Score can. I giggled, snickered, and cackled my way through this book. From the antics of the elderly housemates to the eccentricities of Riley’s family to the outrageousness of her ex and the banter between Riley and Nick, I was cracking up.

I also loved the chemistry between Riley and Nick, the found family aspects of the novel, and the oneupmanship/competitiveness between Nick and Riley’s spiritual advisor, Gabe.

What a fun start to the series!

I received a copy of the ebook from Bloom Books. All review opinions my own.

I just love Lucy Score although this series wasn't my favorite, not as much as some of her other book series. I do like that she got into the mystery genre but for me something seemed to be missing. I did enjoy the characters and will definitely read the rest of the series to see how the story progresses.

Thanks to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and Sourcebooks Bloom books for allowing me to review this ARC!

Lucy Score did it again! Her characters are always dynamic, easy to identify with, and HILARIOUS! This series is sure to be action packed and entertaining...much like her Knockemout series!

I'm a big fan of Lucy Score's books and couldn't wait to read her Riley Thorn series. The Dead Guy Next Door is plain ole fun from the beginning to the end! I love Riley and Nick and all the craziness they go through and the side characters are just as fun!

I also listened to the audio book and feel that the narrator, Natalie Duke, did a wonderful job on all the voices she did. Can't wait for book 2 to see what Riley and Nick are up to!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

If you like fun and quirky romcoms, this is it for you.
It was a fun a unique premise for a romcom, but had all the charm I love in a romcom.
A really fun read!

Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for the e-ARC of the book.

Riley Thorn is trying to ignore her clairvoyant visions until she sees a prediction of her terrible neighbor being murdered. At the same time Nick Santiago, a PI comes to Riley’s doorstep to investigate soon-to-be-murdered neighbor. As Riley becomes a main suspect as she tried to warn police about upcoming murder, Nick decides to help her find the real murderer.

I liked this book a lot and I’m ready to read book two. The silly situations, humor and vibrant characters what I enjoyed.

Ohhhhh my gosh, I had no idea what I was getting into with The Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score, but it was HILARIOUS. Riley Thorn is a clairvoyant living in denial until her "hallucinations" start coming true--specifically the murder of the grumpy old man down the hall. PI Nick Santiago is hired by the man's aunt to look into his murder because the cops don't seem all that capable of solving the case. He's smoking hot and capable AF, and he and Riley have some serious chemistry. This book is a slow burn with swoony steam, but it's also utterly and completely bonkers. Car chases, corrupt cops, zany neighbors, vigilantes, rescue dogs, a pompous spray-tanned ex--I could go on. Lucy Score has created the most hilarious cast of characters for what is shaping up to be one heck of a hilarious series. I can't wait to see what Riley and Nick get up to next.

Would absolutely 100% recommend. I have do idea Lucy Score was this hilarious and would have read this series long before if I'd known.
There are so many fun characters, twists, turns, and ANGST. Spice is yummy and the mystery parts were much more enjoyable than I thought they'd be.

I actually had a tough time getting in to this one. The plot was interesting but felt too familiar. The characters were written well and the banter was fun. It was exactly what I expected. I'd highly recommend if the summary catches your attention. If you think you'll love it, you probably will.

Quirky characters, a fun mystery, and a paranormal twist! This was easy to delve into and the story was a wild ride. I am excited to read more of the series!

If I had one negative, it would be that the side characters took up a lot of time resulting in the story feeling long. I know Lucy Score's book often are, but this made me less likely to binge read as I just needed a brain break.

NetGalley ARC received for review!

Oh my gosh, you have to read Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door! It's like Lucy Score took a quirky, hilarious rollercoaster and turned it into a book. Seriously, if you need a fun, light-hearted read to break up your heavier books, this is it. Riley, a psychic who just wants to be 'normal,' and Nick, a bad-boy private investigator, have this incredible chemistry from their first meeting. And their banter? Perfection!

Yes, it starts a little slow, but trust me, once it gets going, it's impossible to put down. There are so many wild, lovable characters—from Riley's 'relatives' at her crazy living situation to the motley crew of supporting characters. Each one adds something special to the story, and somehow, Lucy Score keeps all these plates spinning beautifully.

The romance between Riley and Nick is both steamy and sweet, and you’ll be rooting for them as they stumble through chaos, danger, and a lot of hilarious moments. The second half really picks up the pace, and by the end, you’ll be grinning like a fool. If this turns into a series, I'm 100% in for the ride. Grab this book—it's ridiculously entertaining, and I promise you'll love every second of it!

I absolutely adore Lucy Score already, but add in some psychics and suspense along with the romance and it is just the best. I will be going along for all the Riley Thorne adventures!

This book was gripping and hard to put down. It didn't feel like everything else you see out there, it felt very fresh. I really enjoyed this book!

Lucy Score has done it again! The Dead Guy Next Door pulled me in from the first chapter with its perfect mix of humor, romance, and suspense. The story follows a strong, independent heroine who finds herself smack in the middle of a murder investigation—right next door! What really kept me hooked was the instant chemistry between her and the mysterious new guy in town. Their banter was sharp, and their connection felt real, with just the right amount of slow-burn tension.

Lucy Score is a master at balancing laugh-out-loud moments with edge-of-your-seat suspense. The quirky cast of side characters added charm and warmth to the story, making the small-town setting feel vibrant and alive. The mystery was gripping without being overwhelming, and the romance unfolded in such an organic, satisfying way.

If you love romantic suspense with witty characters and a plot that keeps you guessing, The Dead Guy Next Door is an absolute must-read. Lucy Score never disappoints!
