Lucy Score cannot miss! The Dead Guy Next Door was fun and funny - just a pleasure to read! Riley Thorn lives with a group of elderly misfits - she’s divorced and feeling down on her luck. She also… hears the dead talk and can see the future at times! Nick Santiago is a private investigator… and he’s going through to help Riley figure out who killed one of her neighbors.

Super cute, sexy, and I LOVED Nick’s character!!

I can’t say this was my favorite Lucy Score book. It was cute. I don’t think I’m into the psychic thing which may be why this fell a little flat for me.

This is a mix of psychic ability, elderly roomies, comedic romance and mystery- not my favorite, but if you enjoy off beat reads you may like this one.

This was a fun read, although it did feel a little longer than it needed to be and a bit more drawn out as a result. This affected the pacing for me a bit. Not enough to undermine the overall enjoyment of the book - the characters and shenanigans are smile-worthy throughout - but it did feel like it took forever to finish, and for a book of this type that's not really what I expect. It's a lighthearted murder mystery and I found the psychic/clairvoyant angle to be entertaining in its presentation. The romance was predictable and not my favorite part of the story (I get it - they're all hot and want to have sex) - that title definitely went to the quirky residents of the mansion, who were a fun Greek chorus of zaniness. A close second was definitely Riley's family, who added another fun element of goofiness. It was enjoyable and I'd definitely pick up another book in the series to see where things go next.

Loved this book! The love story, action, and humor were perfectly placed in every chapter! I'm also a big fan of the psychic genre.

4.5 rounding up

What a fun debut to this series featuring a broke divorcee forced to pay her anchorman cheating ex while doing her very best to deny and or stamp down all the psychic messages she keeps receiving. After she has a vision that her skeezball neighbor in a mansion sorta rooming house/flophouse gets shot, it actually happens. And the wonderful and eccentic characters you will meet from the houseful of senior citizens to the soul sucking minute counting colleagues at her proofreading job. Not to mention her family. Of course there's the hot PI trying to process serve the aforementioned soon to be dead guy. All in all a rollicking read full of action. Can't wait to read the next one.

This book was all that and a bag of chips. It was campy and fun, with all the shenanigans a reader could ask for.

I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did, but I was laughing throughout it all. From the ridiculous octogenarians to the conspiracies surrounding town to an affable mob boss, this book never took itself too seriously. It was a joy and I need more Riley Thorn!

Love Lucy Score books and this was no different! It was a little bit outside of what I normally read from her but I still loved it! It was cheeky and witty and I highly recommend..

This book was full of action, adventure, twists and turns, and romance along the way to solving a mystery. The characters were relatable and well-written. While the story seemed a bit longer than it needed to be, it was enjoyable all the same. I would recommend this title to patrons and look forward to my library buying a copy for circulation. Overall, reading this book was an adventure worth the time commitment. Looking forward to book two!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This was such a fun and entertaining read!

Riley is divorced, down on her luck, and just wants some normalcy in her life. But now she is now having unwanted psychic visions of the future and can speak to the dead. When her neighbor is murdered, she finds herself tied to the case and somehow ends up in a fake relationship with the hot detective who is investigating the case.

This book is laugh out loud funny! It was cute and I absolutely loved it! It’s different than some other of Lucy’s books, but it’s still so good and was hard to put down! Lucy has a way of writing her characters and makes you just fall in love with them! I can’t wait to devour the next book in this series! Even if this book seems like it won’t be your thing, trust me, it will be!

This book is just not for me, as simple as that. I knew the plot would be silly, but even knowing that, it was hard to get through. Honestly, it just felt a bit ridiculous. I was hoping that the romance would save it, but that didn’t happen. Nick is one of the worst love interests I’ve read in a loooong time. Genuinely. He’s terrible. A shallow, stereotype of a male lead. Riley is okay, but she didn’t win me over, either. I ended up liking the secondary characters like Blossom and Gabe more. This also just felt way too long and drawn out. End rant.

Review:"A Nice, Normal Life? Is That Too Much to Ask?" poses the question, and Riley Thorn certainly seems to think so. In this delightful romp of a mystery, Riley, a divorced, broke woman living with a colorful group of elderly roommates, finds herself in the midst of a murder investigation and grappling with clairvoyant visions she'd rather ignore. Enter Nick Santiago, a charmingly rebellious private investigator who's as hot as he is determined to crack the case. Together, Riley and Nick embark on a rollercoaster ride of sleuthing, navigating quirky characters, including Riley's endearing roommates, and fending off a by-the-book detective with a grudge. The chemistry between Riley and Nick sizzles on the page, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already intriguing plot. As they untangle clues and dodge danger, their banter and camaraderie shine, making them a duo readers will root for. While the mystery of the dead guy next door provides plenty of twists and turns, it's the interactions between Riley and Nick that steal the show. The ensemble cast, from lovable roommates to less savory characters, adds depth and charm to the story, creating a rich tapestry of personalities. Though the pacing occasionally feels a tad drawn out, the overall experience is enjoyable and entertaining. The author's knack for creating likable characters and weaving an engaging mystery shines through, promising more excitement to come in future installments. In conclusion, "Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door" is a fun, well-written read that will keep readers guessing until the very end. With its blend of humor, intrigue, and romance, it's a promising start to what is sure to be an engaging series.

This book was so cute!! I was a little skeptical at the start with Riley being a psychic but I’m so glad I kept reading. This wasn’t as spicy as other Lucy Score books, but was still a great read.

What a fun read! This book pulled me in so fast because of Lucy Score’s incredible writing. She has a way of writing these characters that makes you feel like you know them and none of them feels like a throwaway character or that they don’t serve a purpose in the narrative. This book is a romance, comedy, and at times a suspense thriller, all wrapped in one. Just what I needed to get myself out of a book slump!

This book is a fast-paced paranormal mystery. It is hilarious. I loved every minute of this book. I couldn't stop laughing at all the ridiculously funny dialogue. The fiest page starts off wildly action packed setting the pace for the whole book. The neighbour is weird but adds to it.

I liked how this was out of Lucy Scores' typical genre but still somehow was the same. I can't wait to read the other books in the series.
