This book was impossible to put down and I already want to read more. I need to know where this goes!
Riley keeps trying to deny and squash these psychic promotions and urges that she has had since she was 5 years old but when she has a vision of her neighbor's murder, she needs to call in all the wild characters of her home share, her family and Nick Santiago's PI crew to unravel all the secrets behind the murder, who did it, and why all before she is the next on on the hit list.
This book was unexpected and brilliant and so much fun. Riley is my new favorite resilient character. Can't keep that girl down!

This book hit all the marks for me - slow burn, paranormal, hilarious cast of secondary characters, mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading "The Dead Guy Next Door" by Lucy Score. Riley and her elderly "aunts" and "uncles" are delightful, and Nick is swoon-worthy. The mystery and the romance work well together, and overall this is just a super fun romp. It is the kickoff to a series and I will definitely be back for more of Riley, Nick, Blossom, Wander, and all the others.
4.5 stars, rounded to 5. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. These opinions are my own.
Lucy Score wins again! This was an absolutely delightful romp, with strong Stephanie Plum vibes. Action, hilarity, and sexy romance, plus a houseful of one of a kind senior citizens and a huge dog. I will definitely be coming back for more Riley Thorn!
Great story and love the build up in it, I liked that this one was different and envolved clarvoint characters. This had so many fun people in it and lots of funny lines and just OMG moments with just a touch of spice.
What a winner! Quirky and genuinely engaging cast of characters, solid plot with action, corruption, intrigue - and - snark, humor, LOL moments with many chuckles - and - a fun, slow burn romance with two unwitting participants that is truly fun - and - a bit of the mystic - and - a huge lion-dog. Looks like there may be more, I can't wait!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc of this book. I love Lucy Score books and was excited to read one that had a psychic female main character. This is the first book of her new Riley Thorn series. I will admit it took me a bit to get through the first half of this book but once I got to the second half I could not put this book down. I hope as this series goes on we get to know Riley and Nick's families more. I found Josie to be intriguing and want to get to know her more. This book is a must read for fans of Lucy Score. I cannot wait for the second book in this series.
What if you saw your neighbor's death, Would you try and save them? Would you go to the police? What if the police think you’re the killer? That’s what Lucy Score’s book The Dead Guy Next Door has and more.
I found this book hard to get into at first. There is just so much going on that I felt like it was a mismatched plot twist in the first 30% of the book. However I love Riley’s elderly neighbors. They bring so much comedy into the story that makes you want to keep reading just to have more scenes with them. I think the side characters have more depth then the main characters sometimes but I really enjoyed all the banter and jokes that were thrown around.
Nick and Riley’s relationship had a slow burn feel to it but it made you crave for more. Personally I liked Nick’s character more than Riley. Riley was a little annoying but when she was around Nick I found her interesting. Otherwise she was kind of pouty.
Overall I would give this book 3 stars. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. I would still recommend people to read since it was interesting and the characters were great.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC!
I really enjoyed reading this book! It's full of humor, mystery, magic, crime-fighting, and romance. Although the book throws a lot of details and was kind of slow moving in the beginning, when it picked up speed, it was a wild ride! There were a LOT of side characters, but they were all charming with distinct personalities. Her family (chosen and actual) was the star of the book and provided great support for Riley. Nick and Riley had a lot of good chemistry together and had excellent banter throughout.
This book is an easy read that will make you laugh out loud!
Thank you NetGalley, Lucy Score for an advance copy of The Dead Guy Next Door in exchange for an honest review … Omg! This book literally had me laughing out loud! I can’t wait for our next Riley adventure ! Lucy Score is an auto but author! Be sure to add this gem to your summer TBR you won’t be sorry! Promise
DNF - might be because I am 60, but the language and story just wasn't my style. Had trouble staying focused and interested in the characters. Sorry.
This was a fun mystery but I found it lengthy!! The beginning was great but the last half lost me.
I loved our main character and the romance aspect! But I just found myself not being engaged the last half of the book
I absolutely love Lucy Score! This romance includes mystery/suspense aspects to it and it works so perfectly. It was such a fun read.
Thank you to Netgalley & Sourcebooks
ARC Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Dead Guy Next Door was originally published in 2020, but this new cover edition will be released next Tuesday the 12th. What a great reading experience this was! It was quirky, chaotic, mysterious, and filled with adventure. The cast of characters was wild- geriatric roommates, hippie parents and a diverse range of strong women. Vigilante justice, a private investigator, and dirty cops kept me on my toes while laughing all the way through. I loved the banter between Riley and Nick - they were likable and relatable. If you enjoy light-hearted, comedic romance, then this a book for you.
Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and @netgalley for this ARC.

I thought this was a new Lucy score book when I requested it and realized after being accepted that it’s been republished in a traditional manner. I found the storyline to be enjoyable but the book was way too long, and I didn’t like the characters as much as those in her other books.
This was such a cute, funny mystery / romance! Riley is a psychic and Nick a private investigator. When Riley’s neighbor is murdered, a neighbor who Nick is investigating, they end up pairing up in a weird way to solve the case. This book had me lol’ing, swooning and I honestly didn’t predict the ending. I just hope more of Riley’s insane friends, roomies and family are in the next!
I feel cheated. I thought I requested a new book, but then I realized I’ve read this before. I didn’t realize NetGalley did this. I will be careful requesting books now that I know they may not be new books.
I just love Lucy Score, and this book was no exception!
The Dead Guy Next Door is a murder mystery with romance. It follows Riley Thorn, a psychic who is ignoring her visions and trying to live a normal life. She runs across Nick, a private investigator, and initially gets thrown into his potential suspects list!
This story unfolds with so many funny moments sprinkled in between this huge mystery. The start of the book was slow, but pushing through was SO worth it! Riley goes from ignoring her visions to using them for the good and working alongside Nick.
If you like slow burn, fake dating, banter, and a murder mystery, then this book is for you!!
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun read! I have enjoyed all of these books in this series. I think refreshing them for another group of people will really enjoy these books. Definitely made me laugh, but also a good mystery
I literally eat up everything Lucy writes....
I don't know how I missed the Riley Thorne series, but I do know I've been missing out. Like with all of Lucy's books, there is the perfect mixture of plot, steaminess and laughs. I love a book that gets me giggling, and Score's never disappoint.
Riley Thorne is a reluctant psychic dealing with crap ex-husband and a crap job living with hilarious geriatric roommates. She sees a future where one of said roommates gets un-alived. In comes Nick Santiago. Nick and Riley end up working together to solve the case and end up solving Riley's "play it safe" issues and Nick's "never settle down" mentality.
If you need a cute, funny and easy read, you can never go wrong with Lucy (and now Riley)!!!
Thank you Lucy, NetGalley and Bloom Books for the re-release eARC.
Riley Thorn is recently divorced, living with a group of eccentric seniors, working at the world’s most boring job, and desperately trying to ignore her psychic abilities which lately have been out of control- from seeing the future to strangers thoughts invading her brain to straight up dead people talking to her. When one of her visions shows her the gross old guy living across the hall from her being murdered, she decides it might be time to put her gift to good use. What follows is a strange set of events from becoming a person of interest in a murder case, to gaining a fake boyfriend that’s a sexy private investigator, to going undercover at a gentleman’s club…and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Riley needs to get her visions under control and her life together but can she do so before another murder occurs- possibly hers?

This book was the exact breath of fresh air I needed. Funny, smart, sexy, and mysterious, the Riley Thorn series has rocketed to the top of my favorites list. With enough quirkiness to keep it unique but not weird, the perfect touch of witty banter and laugh out loud humor, and just enough flirtation and sexiness to keep a romance reader fully invested, this book delighted me all the way through. Lucy Score is hands down an auto-buy author for me and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
Thank you to Bloom Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.
