3 stars - I liked this book overall, although it did drag on for me. It easily could have been 100+ pages shorter. The characters were likable, though predictable. I might read the next book in the series.

Lucy Score is a must read author for me, and I love romantic thrillers, so this request was high on my list of needs!! I was obsessed with the characters, especially the supporting ones! I'm so excited that this is a series and can't wait to read the rest!!

The supporting cast of characters totally steal the show in this book! Riley is a non-practicing clairvoyant. All the women in her family have some sort of psychic abilities. Some have greater powers than others. All accept it as their right. Riley though, just wants to be normal, unfortunately for her, she has a vision of a murder and the victim... her housemate/neighbor. She does what she can to prevent it, but in the end, nothing works, and now she is the number one suspect. Enter Nick. A PI hired to find the murderer. A hot PI. The attraction is a two way street. Too bad he is a bachelor who has no desire at all to settle down with one woman, and she is still trying to get over a divorce. Much fun is to be had as the two, along with the rest of the residents, frolic around gathering intel. Did I mention the housemates are all in their later years of life. Don't let them fool you though, they are as wirey as a young whippersnapper. ;) There is that sexual tension between the two. There is also a bit of jealousy when a second man enters Riley's life unexpectedly. There is a lot of action in regards to the mystery. There are some thrill-like scenes that keep Riley and Nick busy. Poor Riley really takes a beaten, but she's a tough cookie and won't let a little shooting slow her down. As I mentioned, the side characters really are a hoot. You will laugh out loud a lot while reading. :) There is the romance running in the background but the sexual content is limited. (Though there is some strongish language.) It alternates POVs. It is hinted (in the author notes) that this may turn into a series, and I seriously hope so! These characters are so much fun! :D

The Dead Guy Next Door is the first in a new series about a reluctant psychic, a private investigator and a house full of quirky senior citizens. I really like the characters, they were absolutely hilarious especially the seniors/roommates and her interesting family. The story had twists and turns and plenty of chemistry. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. It reminds me of the Stephanie Plum books a little bit but even more quirky.

I have heard a lot about Lucy Score before diving into this book. And honestly, this book is not what I expected. I was expecting a little more romance and spice, and a lot less crime fighting and detective work. Overall, I did not dislike the book and I felt that it was a fairly average read.

A nice, normal life is too much for Riley Thorn and now she is broke, divorced, and living with a pack of elderly roommate. Things can’t seem to get worse but then a PI shows up to investigate the guy next door who ended up murdered. Nick Santiago doesn’t play well with others and prefers of buffet of women. When the pretty, possibly psychic Riley lands at the top of the suspect list, Nick volunteers to find out who really did it. They join forces to find out who pulled the trigger before the killer decides to turn his sights on Riley.

If Lucy Score writes it, I am buying it. Typically, I don’t enjoy books with ghost but this one was really fun. I loved all of Riley’s roommates especially Ms. Penny. Her going crazy on the police was absolutely hilarious and had me laughing so freaking hard. There was a good bit of Disney references in it and my inner Disney Adult was here for it. Nick was so protective of Riley and she really said I don’t need you while chasing down a murderer. I don’t know if Riley has ovaries of steel or just no fear whatsoever but I was totally here for it. This book has a lot going on but it is just so much stinking fun and I am so glad I picked it up.

I just love how Lucy Score always knows how to balance romance with plot and adventure! This was a fun and entertaining read that had me wanting to keep reading. I loved the psychic plot line, which I thought made this story unique!

Funny characters with witty banter. I feel like it’s the perfect pallet cleanser book between all the dark romances I tend to gravitate to.

I have been a big fan of Lucy Score's for some time now and this book certainly didn't disappoint. I loved the psychic aspect and the fact that Riley fought it even though her mother and sister kept encouraging her. Even though it has murder and mystery the author keeps it light and easy to read.

4/5 ⭐️ Lucy Score just does not miss! I loved everything about this book from front to back. The best way I can describe it is a Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Original with a lot more hilarity and chaos with a splash of spice. Riley and Nick are such a unique pairing but make perfect sense - a reluctant psychic who just wants to be normal and a PI who enjoys the bachelor lifestyle. But truthfully, they need each other to bring out the best traits in one another.

My only criticism of this book is that there are A LOT of characters introduced. So it can be a bit confusing keeping them all straight. With that said, I cannot wait to read Book 2 in this series!

What an interesting premise! I am shocked this book is not more popular considering its Lucy Score - and I certainly found it more interesting than her other novels. However, it was just SO LONG for a lighthearted mystery/romance novel. I am a HUGE fan of a slow burn, but this could have easily been 100 pages shorter.

Riley and Nick! Oh, the laughs this book has caused! I love the roommates and all the mischief. Love, laughs and crime! What more could you ask for? Lucy is one of my most favorite authors!! I highly recommend this book and all the rest of this series. I will read this one again!

I got to like 33% f this book but I still don't care enough about the characters. It's a DNF I might be willing to revisit in the future, but for now it's very messy and I don't want to spend more time dwelling on it.

I devoured this book! This was my first by Lucy Score, and I had such a great time reading it that I feel like immediately snatching up the next in the series to keep going with it. Now, this was not by any means a serious piece of literature. To be clear, that’s exactly what I loved about it. My brain needed a deep scrub of all seriousness- it’s been a rough few weeks trying to read anything with any substance- and Riley Thorn delivers. She is a classic early 2000s style romantic comedy heroine, and I read the book like watching a fluffy comedic adventure, which was apparently just what I needed.
The actual romantic relationship was full of big red flags that I’d absolutely hate in a real couple (he’s possessive, pushy, etc) but you know we love in fictional scenarios (“get your hands off my woman” vibes).
Perhaps the best parts are all provided by a motley cast is supporting characters. They kept me giggling and entertained throughout, which is good since this book is pretty long for what it is. I couldn’t put it down!

The Dead Guy Next Door" by Lucy Score is a book that surprised me with its humor. Riley's roommates were a diverse group of people, and their interactions with other characters made the story even more fun. I also enjoyed reading about her family, who were very loving and what her dad called "woo-woo." The way Lucy Score writes makes the characters feel authentic, and it was like watching a TV drama. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.

This book had me laughing and giggling out loud. Loved the sexual tension between Riley and Nick. It is filled with quirky and entertaining characters that you will love. Though it starts a bit slow, it redeems itself after a couple of chapters.

The Dead Guy Next Door is a light and entertaining read and will give you the perfect escape to lift your spirits. This was a 4.25 Star read for me!

It took me a little longer than usual to really get into the book, but I truly enjoyed it! Once I got over the threshold, I could not put it down! It kept me on my toes and had me giggling. Absolutely adored Riley and Nick, They were entertaining, and I loved their dynamic. The romance was there with the plot *chefs kiss*.

Anything Lucy Score writes I will continue to read!

If you enjoy romcoms, you will most likely enjoy this read. I didn’t expect this to be as much of a silly, cute mystery story as it was. Unfortunately this just isn’t the type of book I typically enjoy. It felt like it dragged on forever and I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

I'm so glad I got to go back and read book one in this series. You don't HAVE to read these in order but they are definitely more fun when you have all the details. Riley and Nick are so fun and their whole cast of characters are hilarious and unbelievable and sometimes straight up insane. I liked the plot of this one and how it sets up the rest of the books in the series. It's a unique take on the psychic solving murders and I found it equal parts cute and wholesome and spicy and scary!

Nick Santiago doesn't play well with others. Unless the "others" are of the female persuasion. Wink. He's a rebel, a black sheep, a man who prefers a buffet of options to being stuck with the same entrée every night, if you catch his drift.
When the pretty, possibly psychic Riley lands at the top of the list of suspects, Nick volunteers to find out whodunit. Only because he likes solving mysteries not because he wants to flex his heroic muscles for the damsel in distress.
All they have to do is figure out who pulled the trigger, keep a by-the-book detective with a grudge at bay, and deal with a stranger claiming he was sent to help Riley hone her psychic gifts. All before the killer discovers she's a loose end that requires snipping.
