What a read! Frieda McFadden does it again. This book was easy to connect to the main characters, many twists and turns with the final plot twist leaving you with a whaaaaat! Moment.
Claire and her husband, Noah set off with 2 other couples on a week long vacation. Where everything goes wrong, so so wrong. Secrets are revealed, people are dead and no one knows if they will make it back home.
This book was a well paced, easy read, that is captivating. This led me to reading it in a day! I am amazed that Frieda 's books are all so different yet just as captivating. This keeps me coming back to Frieda. You will never go wrong picking up a Frieda McFadden book!
Thank you to Frieda McFadden, Posioned Pen publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

I loved every second of this book. I never knew who to trust or who was betraying everyone. It kept me second guessing everything up until the end. The plot twist was amazing and I would have NEVER guessed it! I highly recommend reading this book if you haven’t already!

One by One by Freida McFadden. Fast-paced, suspenseful thriller filled with murder, mystery, infidelity, and unexpected twists. Suspicions were constant and tensions high throughout the story. The insightful backstory as told by Anyomous (whose identity was a jaw dropping surprise) lead to perfectly shocking ending. Entertaining and gripping read.
Thank you to NetGalley, Poisoned Press and Freida McFadden for opportunity to preview the book.

"One by One" by Freida McFadden is set in a remote wooded area, where friends find themselves stranded, disappearing one by one under mysterious circumstances.
The story is told from two perspectives. Claire, a loving mother of two in a failing marriage, and an “anonymous” person’s flashbacks of a childhood with an abusive mother. I figured out early on who the anonymous person was, so that wasn’t a surprise.
The book description says, “As Claire’s dream vacation descends into a nightmare, something becomes clear: only one of them will return home alive.” That is confusing because it certainly isn’t what happens.
The book lacks depth and complexity, but it is entertaining for a quick (one-day) read!
My thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for this ARC.

Claire and Noah plan a get away with their friends. Their marriage is a mess and Claire believes this trip will be their last. Lindsey, Claire’s best friend, brings her new boyfriend Warner. Jack, Noah’s best friend, has his wife Michelle. On the way to the secluded inn their car breaks down. They decide to walk the 2 miles left to the inn, but end up getting lost in the woods. One by one the members of their group begin to disappear.
What i liked: I did not guess the twist at the end. Frieda does a great job at wrapping everything up at the end. She always has my jaw on the floor. I had such a great time trying to guess who was “Anonymous” throughout the book. I was suspicious of everyone.
What I disliked: The chapters were not the short fast paced flow that I’ve come to expect from Frieda McFadden books. Claires inner dialogue was a little immature and lacked depth that would’ve made her character more likable. I didn’t really care about the characters that died or went missing.

One by One by Freida McFadden is thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The story follows Claire Matchett and her friends as they go on a hiking trip in the woods, hoping for a relaxing break from their hectic lives. However, when their van breaks down and they are forced to continue on foot, they soon realize they are not alone in the forest. As members of their group start to disappear one by one, Claire and the others are left wondering who is after them. The author builds tension and suspense, keeping readers guessing until the very end. The characters are well developed, and their struggles and fears feel real.

I didn't have high expectations for this one. Retelling of And Then There Were None. Hooking start, kept reading from the first line to the last line. The twists weren't as good as the usual Freida's. Still difficult to predict which one of the dead people would be it. The betrayal story and the flashback with Anonymous were still worth reading. Would recommend to a mystery and thriller audience. Overall entertaining read. Not one of my favorites by Freida but still does the job.

I love Freida’s books. But this one wasn’t one of my favourites. I enjoyed the story line of the anonymous person. The 6 friends who go off on a trip together starts out really good. But it slowly gets weird. I’m glad I read it tho. It’s got a great twist that Freida usually gives you. It’s worth the read if you’re a fan of hers. But definitely not one to start off with.
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy

Hello. This read is amazing. The ending is executed perfectly. The character dynamic is perfect; especially between Claire and Noah. I like how the character dynamics shift throughout the book. The story shifts between Claire's point of view and anonymous. Towards the end of the story, anonymous is revealed and it was not who I was expecting. All I can tell you, I was insistent it was Jack.
Even though it is not a mystery novel, I enjoyed how anonymous adds a little mystery to the unseasy feelings you get throughout the book. Claire hears animal sounds and everyone brushes it off. Is it real or imagined? Frieda McFadden has a way with words. I feel transported into the story and can feel every feeling the characters feel. One complaint I have is the use of cuss words. Personally, I find it distracting in a book but the book is so unputdownable.
This is a must read.

Loved this fast paced book!I I read it in one day! Another great book of Freida McFadden's! Kept me guessing til the end! I am looking forward to my next McFadden book! I recommend!

I love any and everything that Frieda McFadden comes out with. Every single book is so fast paced in my opinion and the twists and turns leave you hanging every time!

3 ⭐️ One by One is probably my least favorite Freida McFadden book I’ve read so far, but of course I still binged the entire book in one day and still found myself surprised by some of the twists in the story, so naturally it was still an enjoyable thriller and a great quick read.

This was a decent story, easy to follow and interesting enough to keep me reading and guessing until the very end. I didn’t have high expectations going into it so I wasn’t as disappointed as some readers were. Now that I have read several books of this author I can definitely tell there is a pattern in her thrillers but I still find them interesting and entertaining.
I really liked the anonymous POV that was slowly developing throughout the book, it added an extra mystery to this story. Very clever!
Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Press and the author for a free copy of ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Very enjoyable read and twists that you don’t see coming.
Suspenseful thriller, tense and one that you will keep looking over your shoulder for a while.
It was entertaining and a fun read, and I recommend.

Claire thought she was going on a week long getaway with her husband and friends. She was wrong. First the car breaks down and then the group gets lost... and then things get even worse. Freida McFadden does it again with this twisty, thought provoking story, where things may not be what what they seem.

I have read, at this time, all of Frieda McFadden’s books that are available. While this was not my favorite in her growing catalog, it was warmly reminiscent of one of my favorite Agatha Christie books/play, And Then There Were None.
I would say going into this book, you shouldn’t take it too seriously. This is a fun, but serious fast-paced thriller that is not meant to be the next great American novel. I say that affectionately, because while writing should make you think sometimes, others you just want something fun.
Much like ice cream I wouldn’t say it’s good for you but man it’s delicious in the moment.
If you enjoy books where characters get plucked off, one by one, a quirky who dunnit’, or a couple hours of hyper-engaging drama with a classic McFadden twist you’ll never see coming, of course check it out.

She did it again with so many twists and turns you thought you guessed it then you didn't. But this time I did not guess this one at all. I got a little bit of Five Survive by Holly Jackson vibes a little. Something that got my attention was there was the same saying in this one as there was in The Coworker. “Two people can’t keep a secret,” she says. “Not unless one of them is dead. I love it when the books connect like that. The killer was certainly a surprise to me but that little extra on the end was so good I was shocked and wanted more.

If you're new to the world of Freida McFadden, I suggest you pick up this book and dive in! This was a great thriller for someone who is just getting into psychological thrillers or Freida herself as an author. I enjoyed the different twists and turns but questioned some of the things that happened in the beginning. Some of the things the characters were doing or saying didn't really track or make sense to me. However, I can't say exactly how I would react if I was stranded in the woods looking for my vacation inn. The twist was great and I stand by my statement of Freida being the queen of all epilogues.
If you're looking for a fast paced psychological thriller, pick this one up. So good!!!
I am on track to read every one of Freida's books and I am so excited! Each of them have their own twists and turns and she's one of my favorite authors. Thank you so much to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for this ARC!

It was a really fun read! I didn’t guess the ending and I was a bit surprised, but it was nothing that blew my mind. It came to an end super quickly, and I wish there were a bit more twists and turns. I also wasn’t really rooting for any of the characters because they all sucked. But super fun easy read for less than 300 pages!

If Freida writes it, I’m going to read it. To me, this is one of Freida’s spookiest ones yet! Of course, I didn’t see the ending coming and I was shocked. I was hooked as soon as I started reading it!
