Six "friends" are headed on a luxury vacation when their car breaks down and they find themselves hopelessly lost in the woods with no cell reception & no clue where they are.... as the journey through the woods, one by one.. they get what they deserve....
This book was so chilling and easy to devour, that I ended up finishing it in ONLY THREE HOURS. Literally could not put it down. Freida does an amazing job of making the reader suspect all of the characters & even then, you are still left shocked with the outcome. The book is written in Dual POV between Claire, a mother of two kids who needed a week away, and this "anonymous" character, who is sharing their childhood backstory. From about the halfway point I had my suspicions on who "anonymous" was, but BOY was I wrong.
Freida quickly starts to peel back Claire's secrets, so I was hooked so fast. TWO CAN KEEP A SECRET IF ONE IS DEAD, AM I RITE?????
My only complaint was Claire's constant mention of getting home to her kids, like we get IT girl, but overall such a compelling story.
4.5/5 stars

This is the first Freida McFadden book I’ve had the pleasure to read, and it certainly won’t be my last. I devoured the story in one sitting, needing to know what was going to transpire. “One by One” follows Claire Matchett as she and her husband are about to embark on a week long vacation with two other couple friends. A vacation that by all intents and purposes is supposed to be relaxing and recharging. That is, until Claire’s minivan breaks down on a deserted dirt road with no way to call for help or find their way to the inn they are supposed to be staying at. Thus, begins their attempt at finding their way out of the woods before it reaches nighttime, however, one by one, each member of their party either goes missing or dies. What could possibly be happening in these woods?
This was a quick, easy, and entertaining read. I was definitely hooked from the beginning and continued to have different theories about who could be responsible. My suspect changed throughout the book and I have to admit, I didn’t exactly see that ending coming. I thoroughly enjoy a good plot twist! If you’re looking for a great suspense thriller, easy read, and fast paced, this is the book for you.

Freida McFadden has quickly cemented herself among my list of auto-read thriller authors. She once again delivers a great thriller that had me hooked from the first page and refused to let go until the very end, eagerly turning pages late into the night, I devoured “One by One” in less than 24 hours. The characters are vividly drawn, and the pacing is perfect. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review "One by One" before its publication date.

I have read ALMOST all of Freida’s books, and with this one still being on the list “to read” I immediately jumped at the request button when I saw it listed!
As I typically do with this authors books, I absolutely devoured this in one sitting. I mean.. it’s so hard not to?? My opinions on all the characters in this book changed constantly as each chapter passed. I had no idea who to trust throughout the entire story. The “anonymous” narrator was NOT who I predicted at all- and I love the subtle yet not so obvious clues Freida leaves throughout the story.
Another amazing thrilling & action packed story with an unpredictable ending - what more could you ask for?

I’ll admit, I am finding it very hard to find something of Freida’s that I do not enjoy. And, well, I’m still searching! One by One is every bit chilling as it is engaging. It’s a classic “who done it” book, leaving you wondering who is behind all of the mayhem that the characters are going through. A simple trip turns into a nightmare. It makes you wonder who, if anyone, can you trust in this world? A must read!

Underwhelmed. It was a thrilling book. And an unpredictable plot twist. But the story line just wasn’t as good as I was hoping and expecting from Freida

Classic Freida! Chilling scenes, fast-paced and scary moments. A must-read from her collection. Thanks to NetGalley for the copy. Four stars.

Another faced paced thriller with twists from Freida McFadden. A group of couples get stuck in the woods, and one by one are killed off….
Thank you to author, publisher, NetGalley for advanced copy. This is an honest voluntary review.

Well, it seems I have done it again. In my excitement to request a title by the incomparable Freida McFadden, I realized upon approval by the publisher that I have previously read it. I will say, again, that it is wonderful, and you will want to add it to your TBR immediately.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for approving my request for this title.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced e-copy of this book for an honest review.
This was my first Freida McFadden book and it did not disappoint.
Faced paced, a group of couples heading to a resort and the car brakes down. They all head off to try to find help. So the setting is is located in the woods, one by one (as the title says) someone dies. Love the twist and turns this story took.
This was my first book from this author and has sparked my love for this author! I will definitely pick up every book she has/will write!

A group of friends find themselves lost in the woods on their way to a weekend getaway.
Freida McFadden is known for her fast paced, suck you in from the beginning, filled with twists and turns books. While One by One is fast paced, I felt at though it did not hold up to her usual unputdownable plots. The characters were annoying, the story was simple and easy to figure out, and the ending wasn't satisfying.
As someone who reads almost solely thrillers/mysteries/suspense, I found this to not be the best I've read. However, I think it would be good for those looking to get back into reading, as a starting point.
3/5

As with all of Freida McFadden’s books, I was sucked right in! Great story, and one where everytime you think you know what’s happening, there’s a twist!!

A week away from work-life balance to save your midlife marriage- but who’s not coming home? An oldie but a goodie from the unimitatable Freida McFadden.

This was one of my favorite Freida books! I was completely blown away by the twist and I didn’t know what was coming next. Characters were completely unlikeable in the best way.

This one was fun. I love a good "lost in the woods" murder mystery.
4 stars.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Bingeable read with a great twist! The ending threw me for a loop and what absolutely not what I expected! Freida does it again!

One by One is a riveting ‘who dub it’, leaving you questioning every individual. A group of adult friends take off for an adventure away from home and end up lost in the forest. Who will get out alive?!?
Love this book, McFadden does it again!

This one hooks you from the very first chapter and takes you on a wild ride immediately.
Every chapter led me on a new adventure and a new questionable character.
I couldn't put this book down and once again, I was blown away by the final twists. Never saw the ending coming and this is officially one of my favorite Freida reads.
Always a 5 star read if it's written by Freida McFadden and I will forever be recommending her books.

This was good-very atmospheric! I kept thinking that I had the twists figured out, but I didn't. The beginning was a little slow for me, but it picked up at the end. Definitely not my favorite of Freida's, but still enjoyed.

One by one follows a group of friends who decide to vacation together. Things go off to a rocky start as we find out one of the couples are going through a rough patch in their marriage which makes for an uncomfortably tense atmosphere for the rest of the group.
Things only get worse from there when the car breaks down and they find themselves stranded in the middle of the woods without cell service and a useless map which can’t get them to their location.
They decide to walk through the woods to get help except not all of them will make it, and one by one individuals mysteriously go missing leaving only a trail of blood.
Freida McFadden books are always enjoyable reads for me. I love the short chapters, the fast pacing, the unpredictable twists and turns and the reading experience is always an over all breath of fresh air.
This book is perfect for new readers who are looking to get sucked in to the thriller genre, or people in a reading slump who are looking for an addictive book the cleanse their palette. Or if you just want a fun read!
