This was my first Freida McFadden, but certainly not my last! A pulse-pounding tale of a vacation gone horribly wrong, this for fans of horror and thriller alike. This reminded my of a modern take on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, which still remains one of my favorite books. I simply couldn't put this down. As a wife and mother, I also deeply related to Claire. If you haven't given Freida a try, do it!

Freida McFadden does it again! The woman seriously never misses. If you like books with troubled relationships, secrets and murder then this is the book for you!!

I have read several books by Freida over recent months and while I enjoy to plot twist and the vast number of unlikeable characters she creates, these books are all starting to follow a very similar pattern. I am starting to get bored.

I know not everyone is a fan, but I always find Freida's books entertaining. They represent the best of the popcorn thrillers. The books are suspenseful, twisty and quite often most if not all the characters are unlikable and unreliable. But it's the kind of like to hate unlikable. And this one fits totally into that mold.
First there were six in the van when it breaks down. Then there were less. With so few suspects, was I sure I knew the outcome. Of course. Did I? Heck no. LOL But more importantly did I love being proven and wrong and the journey to get there.
If you like twisty suspenseful books and you haven't yet read one of her books, you really need to pick one up.

If I ever say I knew how a Freida McFadden book was going to end just know that it was only because I suspected every single character at one point or another.
I 100% thought I knew how this was going to end at least 5 times throughout this book. I was wrong. So wrong.
This book was like reading a great horror film. Six friends go out to a remote Inn for a week of relaxation. No kids, no responsibilities, just a good time and lots of secrets. One by one they all start dying or disappearing.
This is a super quick and easy read that you could honestly do in one sitting. The pacing was great. I loved the "anonymous" chapters. This might be my favorite Freida McFadden book yet.

I have read several Freida McFadden books at this point and usually I am a little put off by the writing style but the plot and twist make up for it but I was disappointed with this one. Unlikeable characters and predictable and almost boring plot, I had to force myself to finish hoping it would get better,.

A quick beach read (actually lake) that keeps the reader guessing. McFadden uses an old trope but it works well here. Will recommend to customers looking for a light thriller.

3.5⭐️ okay so it was VERY unrealistic however it was a typical fast-paced, read-in-a-day freida thriller so I can’t complain

3.25
Like all the other Freida McFadden books this was very fast paced, engaging, kept me hooked but the ending really let me down I didn't like it.
Throughout most of the book it felt like it was a 4 star or 4.25 but that ending lowered it down to a 3.25.

This was my second book by Freida McFadden and like the first one I read, I was not disappointed! I binged this book in a matter of days because I could not put it down. I read some other reviews and it seems as though lots of people have the opposite opinion that I do - they talk about characters who are not likeable - but I argue that is what is what makes a good writer, someone who can move you (either to like or dislike) the characters. While I agree that Claire was a little repetitive with her musings about her marriage and her love for her children, ultimately I think that is what drives the character to make it back home. Also, the fact that she doesn't really trust her husband adds to the suspense in the story. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this story.

This book was very underwhelming and the typical through the woods, killing off thriller. I was unimpressed.

I loved this book. I love ALL of her books. I would recommend any of them to anyone looking for a great book. Thanks for the opportunity to read this one.

Claire, her husband Noah, and four close friends embark on a week-long vacation at a secluded lodge. With Claire and Noah's marriage teetering on the edge, Claire intends to end things post-vacation. This trip was supposed to be a final celebration with friends before she shakes up their world. However, their journey hits a snag when their minivan breaks down, forcing them to proceed on foot. Mysteriously, they start to be picked off one by one. Who or what is behind it?
While some of their decisions in the woods were problematic for me, the story was engaging and I wanted to keep reading. Freida McFadden excels at weaving in unexpected twists, and this book is no exception. Although it may not surpass 'The Housemaid,' it's still an enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book to me in exchange for an honest review.
Typical Frieda book—fast read, not complex, twisty, and entertaining.
The details were far fetched. During some of the storyline I was like, seriously, NO ONE would make this decision, and this would never happen in real life. But you don't read a book by this author and expect the plot to be 100% believable or to read about real life. You read this author to be entertained, to escape "real life" in form of a book, to expect to be surprised by the twists and turns. And this title acomplished just that for me.
Thank you Freida for writing another one that made me feel acomplished by reading it so quickly (I am a slow reader) and also for keeping me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page. It kept me coming back during the day for just a "few more pages" and before I knew it, the book was finished.

I am a huge fan of Freida McFadden and was so excited to read another twisty thriller. I was left feeling conflicted with this one. The beginning didn’t grip me and I had to try a few times to get into it. The pacing felt a little bit slow to start. Once it got going it flowed well and was a quick read. I enjoyed the characters and their layers, but found myself frustrated at their responses to things (asking myself “why would you do that?!”). In true Freida fashion, the plot twist left me shocked. However, at times it felt like the “why” was a bit difficult to believe. Overall, One by One was decent but failed to grip me in any memorable way.
Thank you so much to Freida McFadden and NetGalley for an ARC of this book! I enjoyed reading and having the opportunity to give my honest review.

this was my first Freida McFadden book and I can agree with everyone else with saying that her books are really fast paced and engaging.
However I felt like the characters were so unlikable and especially the protagonist, Claire was so easy to hate.
What I can say is that I love the ending, it may have been a bit predictable but still I loved it.
thank you Netgalley for the digital copy of One by one in exchange of an honest review!

This was my second Freida McFadden, and so far my favorite. The reprint of this 2020 book came out on April 2nd, and it’s an exciting, very quick read! It’s full of action and twists, and I was convinced I had it all figured out, but I didn’t! There are several huge twists at the end of the book that had me questioning everything 😅 if you figured this out I’d love to know how 😂 such an entertaining little thriller!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the digital copy of ONE BY ONE! ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

"One By One" by Frieda McFadden is a gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Set in a secluded mountain retreat, the novel follows a group of colleagues whose corporate retreat turns deadly when they become trapped by a snowstorm. As tensions rise and suspicions mount, McFadden expertly weaves together a web of secrets and betrayals, keeping readers guessing until the final twist. With sharp dialogue, a claustrophobic atmosphere, and well-drawn characters, "One By One" delivers an intense and satisfying read for fans of suspenseful mysteries.

What a twisty fast paced thriller! I really enjoy Freida McFadden books, and I think this has been my favorite so far. Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this book. Claire is heading out on a weekend trip to a remote resort with her husband and two of her best friend couples. Before they arrive their car breaks down and one by one tragedy starts to strike. I was so surprised by the twists that last up until the final page of this book. It was such a quick read and I devoured it! 5 stars from me.

Freida's writing always keeps you on the edge of your seat and this one was no different. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a rollercoaster of a ride. As the book progressed there were so many twists I couldn't keep my head straight. The final twist at the end was *chef's kiss.* I was really convinced that the person was guilty until the final few lines. I definitely did not see the culprits being revealed as the people they were. I thought this was evenly paced and moved very quickly. This was a very quick read and I really enjoyed it. Thank you to netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
