4.5 ⭐️ First book to finish in one sitting. Definite “unputdownable” psychological thriller. And Then There Was None (Agatha Christie) + Cruel Summer (Season 2) Vibes. I got it right but didn’t.

I had high expectations of this book given how famous the author is. Ruth Ware published a thriller a couple of years ago with the same name so I assumed the plot was similar. It's a closed-circle mystery of who's done it. I liked the set-up and the first third of the book however, after that, I couldn't believe the story and how it was evolving. It felt far-fetched to me. Overall, I enjoyed the experience however, it didn't make it to the top of the year for me.

While I love the format of Freida’s books, I would love to see a breakaway novel with a drastic step away from her formula.

The story was good. Classic Freida.

What a fun time! I would give this story as a whole 3 stars but I had so much fun reading it that it bumped it to 4! Freida McFadden knows how to write a twisted story that keeps you entertained, engaged and guessing until the very end. She is the queen of twists and makes you question human nature and behavior.

I will always read a Freida McFadden book because she is the queen of a popcorn thriller. I liked the premise and had several guesses as to who anonymous was and was wrong every time. Reading this was fun. 3.5 rating overall.

While I love Freida McFadden, this book just fell short for me. I kinda felt like I was watching a B grade scary movie with a plot that seemed totally unrealistic and characters that I didn't like at all. Not one of them. The only saving grace was a bit of a surpise ending.

This book was such a page turner! Every time I thought I figured out the end, I was wrong. And when the end of the book came, I was really wrong!

Freida McFadden has become one of my favorite thriller authors. Her books are fast paced, twisty and I've enjoyed her writing style. While I wouldn't say this is my favorite Frieda book, it is still a great book and I will recommend it to fellow readers.

One By One follows three couples as they go on a week long trip to an inn in the woods, but the car breaks down in the middle of those woods. Claire, whose point of view we get most of the time, her husband, her best friend, the best friend’s new boyfriend, her husband’s best friend, and his wife all go on this trip. We get one other point of view every so often. That point of view is a mystery until the end.

All in all this book had me hooked. I kind of hate Claire, but she was written well. She was so detached from reality, and being in her head was annoying at times. I’d rather have been in her husband’s point of view.

This is yet another thrilling masterpiece by Freida McFadden. The details put me in the story, and the characters were sometimes lovable and sometimes the opposite. The plot had me guessing time and time again.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

“There were six of us when we started. And one by one, each of us has disappeared.” One By One is a quick read perfect for a rainy day. The reader will question whodunit the whole time and still be surprised by the big twist ending. Fans of suspense will love this fast paced thriller.

One by One is exactly what you would come to expect from Frieda McFadden. The entire time you are devouring this book you think you know what the plot is until you don’t anymore. This is a great read for any mystery lover. It’s a quick read and allows your mind to wander all around - kind of like our cast of characters do in the wood. Enjoy!!!

I really enjoyed this twisty mystery! Claire, her husband Noah (who she really isn’t in love with anymore), their married friends Michelle and Jack (also not in love with each other anymore) Lindsay, Claire’s best friend, and Lindsay’s new boyfriend Warner decide to take a getaway to a remote luxury hotel.

When Claire’s van breaks down, their bad luck is just beginning. This book had me questioning everyone and trusting no one! It was definitely creepy but I wouldn’t say a horrifying thriller, if that’s your thing. Thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for my copy!

A middle of the road thriller novel, but it has a tropeset I like: toxic relationships, wilderness, and, well, the characters all get picked off one by one.

Wow! Just loved reading this one! I have read a couple of books by Freida and they are all varies yet extremely engrossing. This book is another page turner that kept my glued. An amazing premise, set of characters, red herrings and use of location to advantage. The style of narration is again brilliant like her other work.

I honestly didn't guess the ending and it went against my guesses. The book kept me guessing and is impossible to put down until the end. It also made me invest into the characters and why this was happening and the motivation. Especially loved the ending! Freida is my auto buy author and this book again proves why!

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

Freida has done it again! Every book I read of hers I always think “oh I think I’ve got this one figured out” but, as per usual, I don’t. This book was a quick and easy read that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It had many twists and turns and an ending that surprised the heck out of me. Highly recommend this book

4ish stars

This book was tense, twisty, and dramatic. I didn’t expect the ending; in fact, it largely went a very different direction than what I was anticipating, which is always a win for me. I’ve really enjoyed a lot of books from this writer and appreciate that I can usually count on her for a quick, dramatic, satisfying thriller.

Wow! Absolutely devoured this read. I really loved the quick and snappy pace of the book along with the originality of the storyline. Also, a great plot twist at the end! Yet to find a Freida McFadden read I haven’t loved!
